I enjoyed this book from start to finish, even with just a bit of the story feeling
over done. Readers of this Author are well able to carry thoughts from one
scene to the next without repetition.
I love the ‘Blood Moon,’ backdrop because it’s not your typical serial
killer backdrop. I’m hesitant to dive too deeply into the specifics,
but with a Detective and a TV Producer working through all kinds
of bizarre thoughts and theories, the story develops into a quick
pace and from all over the Country hints and tips and cooperation
rolls into rescue young girls, nail a long overdue rotten cop, and
save victims and cement love.

This one opens with a bang! A reporter for a TV crime series and a police detective hide-out in a Louisiana fishing shack while they try to solve a murder that happened on the night of a blood moon. I would have liked a little more romance but it’s a good mystery that kept me in suspense until the end.
Beth Miller is in Auclair, Louisiana to meet with John Bowie, a police detective that worked on a missing girl’s case three years earlier. She is a fact checker for a TV show in NYC that is getting ready to air a story about the case. But she feels there is more to the story: She thinks there have been more abductions during blood moons and whoever took the girls will strike again in four days when it’s the next blood moon! (The blood moons happen when the sky turns red during lunar eclipses.)
The case has been eating away at John because the abducted girl was never found and he believes the neighbor boy who was charged with the murder and later died in his cell was falsely accused. John is aware of corruption in his police force and he has been warned to stay away from the case so he is wary to talk to Beth. But he wants to know more about her idea that the blood moon is connected to the abduction plus he felt an instant attraction between them. They go to his home to talk about the case but when his dog alerts him someone is outside watching them, they sneak away to his family’s fishing shack where no one can find them. They go over their notes and discuss the case to try and find the murderer before he can strike again.
I thought John was special with his cool dog and how he makes Beth homemade gumbo, while keeping her safe at his shack as they investigate. But when he is frustrated with the case, he becomes sarcastic and snarky, which isn't fun. The case has eaten away at him for three years and he worries about what happened to the girl (they never found her body). As the story went on and his old partner Mitch came to help them, we saw a more caring side of him and I grew to like him better.
Beth is a delight - self-assured, calm and successful and she's not afraid to stand up to John when needed. She found an important clue, which was exciting and impressive. She is thirty-three and John is nine years older so there’s a bit of an age gap but they are intensely attracted to each other and there are a few short spicy scenes.
The story is fast paced with lots of action. There’s the mystery of the disappearing girls, police corruption, drama with John’s teenage daughter and his ex. In addition, there are a few chapters that take us into the villain’s mind that give us insight into his motivation which added to the suspense.
I didn’t always like John in the beginning when he was sarcastic and I also would have liked to see a little more romance between him and Beth but there are lots of twists and turns that surprised me and I didn’t guess who the villain was until the end.
I think Sandra Brown fans will enjoy Blood Moon along with romance suspense fans who like their mysteries lighter on the romance. I used to enjoy Brown’s romance books many years ago and am glad I got this chance to try one of her newer books. The suspense was good and kept me on the edge of my seat until the satisfying ending.

Once again Sandra Brown writes another amazing book. Mystery, thriller, romance and spice what could be better. This was an amazing story and I loved the characters so much. The whole time it kept my attention and interest. I did not see the ending of the cases coming but wow was it a good twist. Highly recommend this story.

I can't even begin to count the number of Sandra Brown books I read. Some left a mark, in fact, her early books put her on my list of auto buy books. This one felt like a 50/50 book to me. There were parts I enjoyed but other parts that fell a little flat. Beth was a pretty tough character, willing to risk so much for her beliefs which is admirable. John was a tougher sell, he was a bit bullish in his approach which I honestly didn't care for. For example, when Beth met Mitch, John was ordering her about with comments like go back to New York and just forget about this. At the beginning of the book, I think his one saving grace was his dog which proved he did care about something before the Chrissy Mellin case derailed it all for him.
There was chemistry between them for sure but I had to wonder because he came off as a drunk who was dialing it in at work and she was a career driven dynamo. However, once he decided to get clear, he became more of the man he was meant to be.
The best part of the entire book was the ending which took everything you thought you know and flipped it over completely. That reveal felt reminiscent of the Sandra Brown books I read in the past, it was a twist that made things interesting.
Taken alone, this book might get 3.5 stars which would round up to 4. When compared to her other work, it fell flat. I had a hard time connecting but that may have been because I had higher expectations based on the author which might not be fair to this book. I am giving it 4 stars but it is honestly 3.5 stars because it is bit try and the beginning does not have the same excitement as the end.

Another winner from this author! I couldn’t put this one down. Trying to find a killer for a cold case and having it turn into a much bigger case was so satisfying. I also love the setting, in the Louisiana bayou. The ending was shocking, and I loved it. Can’t wait for the next one from Sandra Brown!

I’ve been a fan of Sandra Brown for a long time, so I was very excited to see a new book. Per usual, she did a great job weaving an interesting and exciting story. The blood moon idea seemed a bit far-fetched, but the dark web aspects of it were compelling and intriguing. There was twists toward the end that I genuinely did not see coming.
She’s a master Stephen storyteller and will always be on my “must read” lists!

No one does it better than Sandra Brown. All her stories are engaging well thought out and captivating. I always try to snap up her latest whenever it’s available. I recommend you read everything she’s ever written and this one is no exception. Thanks for a great book.
The story itself deals with a TV reporter, following up on a special that was getting ready to come out. The policeman involve the cop is at odds with his chief who would like to see him gone, and the feeling is mutual.
As the thing progresses, there are changes in the story. The tv personality is trying to track down items to follow up on a story with an upcoming blood moon. She is at odds at times with the people back home and it turns to where she is finding stuff she wants them to put off the story and they don’t wanna do it. She is fired. Meanwhile, she Matt teams up with The policeman and starts going after what a true story is. It appears that the police chief has falsified some information to try to put the blame on somebody and close the case they track it down and through a very interesting instead of circumstances, take care of the issueall in all it’s a great book and of course, the lady from the TV station and the “rogue cop “ and her have some personal things to deal with which turn out much to both of theirs pleasure.

Sandra Brown is one of those thriller/mystery writers that can keep you up late because you just have to finish the book! I absolutely loved John Bowie in this story, he was the dark and mysterious male main character that I love to see in a thriller. Couple that with Beth Collins, a career driven and powerhouse of a female main character, and you have explosive and angsty chemistry. Uncovering the mystery was paced just right, and in true Sandra Brown fashion she packed an extra OMG WHAT at the end.

Sandra Brown's latest novel is another easy read. I've read a lot of her books and this one is as enjoyable as the rest. Her books are, in a lot of ways, very prescriptive... a beautiful woman, a rugged man, getting into danger to find a killer. This book followed that formula closely.
I enjoyed this book because it was fast-paced, suspenseful, and kept my attention. I liked that the action started from the very first chapter. I grew up not far from where the story was taking place, so it was interesting to read about the landscape and the way of life - it was very accurate! I liked how the themes of moon phases and numerology ran through the book, and how much detail was given about the lunar eclipses. I learned something new! There's a big twist at the end that was a surprise, and the ending ties everything together just as it should.
Overall, a solid 3 stars. It was an enjoyable read!

Blood Moon is the newest romantic suspense by Sandra Brown. I have really enjoyed several of her books, but this one missed the mark for me.
Beth Collins, a producer for Crisis Point, travels down to Louisiana to connect with Detective John Bowie for an episode of the show that focuses on a case he worked on. Beth has linked the case to the Blood Moon and believes that, not only was the correct perpetrator never caught, he's also going to do it again very soon.
Bowie's life was upended after the Chrissy Mellin case because he didn't believe they had caught the correct person and his supervisor shut down his efforts for further investigation. He's hesitant to get involved agian, but a series of events make him reconsider.
This book started really slow for me, and, though it picked up a bit toward the end, I realy couldn't get into it. The beginning was also full of references to Bowie being distracted by Beth's physical appearance, which was annoying and kind of gross.

The QUEEN OF ROMANTIC SUSPENSE is back!!
I'm a huge fan of Sandra Brown so was excited to read this!
I loved the characters(over here hoping for a book about Mitch!).
Between the mystery, the corruption, and the bad a** characters, it was fantastic.
The added science talk just made the book go above and beyond.
While I did guess the twist and the whodunit, I really enjoyed it and it had a ton of action to keep me into it.
I would 100% recommend.

Sandra Brown has the Midas touch for creating storylines with characters that pull you in and keep you wanting more. Blood Moon has got it all: Mystery, Suspense, Police Corruption, Reality TV, Action and Romance!
John Bowie is a detective plagued by a three year old unsolved murder and Beth is a reality tv exec producing a feature on that murder in Louisiana. The result of their meeting is fast paced with twists and turns that you don’t see coming.
This was an engaging fast read and I highly recommend it for your enjoyment.

I loved the theme of the Blood Moon and how a string of murders were happening during that night. Detective Bowie and Beth on a show team together to find these girls and save another from the new blood moon. What is the connection? Some love, mystery and intrigue.. Thanks to author Sandra Dallas for a good suspenseful read!

What a thrill.
This was really good. I love Sandra Brown. The true crime show was such a great aspect to start investing from. Everything is done so well that it keeps you on edge. Tons of action. Tons of twists. The mystery was entertaining and enthralling, absolutely absorbing all your attention. With a hint of romance. The crimson moon feature gave an eerie atmosphere.

Another outstanding book by this excellent author. Her writing combines all the elements that work so well, mystery, romance and suspense.
I thoroughly enjoyed this and look forward to recommending it to all readers.

I have been an avid reader of Sandra Brown books for many years,
This is another great one to add to her collection. Plenty of action to keep me interested

Sandra Brown’s brand of romantic suspense just works for me. I can always count on her to weave a story that keeps me guessing, has me trusting no one, and nonstop turning the pages to solve the mystery.
‘Blood Moon’ is another great addition to her impressive list of novels. This time around, a true crime television producer makes her way to Louisiana in hopes of getting some more info on a missing persons cold case her show is covering. Enter the jaded officer who publicly questioned his department’s investigation at the time of the disappearance. It’s a race against time to outrun those who don’t want their corruption exposed and someone who may be planning their crimes in time with rare lunar cycle events.
I really enjoyed Beth’s character. She was headstrong and intelligent, and she had integrity and a drive to find the truth before presenting falsehoods as facts. I also liked the push and pull between Beth and John. John was a gruff, hardened man haunted by the case he felt his department botched. Buried under all that was a man who cared deeply and wasn’t afraid to go into battle when everything came to a head. The two of them following Beth’s seemingly far fetched theory around the case was intriguing and easy to get wrapped up in as they worked through various clues and threads to unravel.
There were some plot points and characters that felt like they could have been developed with a bit more depth and had me wondering if they needed to be included at all. However, John’s daughter, Molly, and his best friend, Mitch, added a lot to the story for me.

This book really hooked me and did not let go until I finished a day later. *Please note, that there is a dog mentioned in this story and he is perfectly fine throughout.*
Our story starts out with Detective John Bowie (frequently referred to as Bowie in the story) having a mystery meeting in a lonesome bar. When he arrives, Beth Collins is there to meet him. When Bowie realizes Beth is a part of the TV show, "Crisis Point", and is working on a show for the Crissy Mellin case, he immediately shuts off. When Beth brings up her theory about the upcoming Blood Moon being significant, he bids her goodbye and hopes to never see her again. But then things start adding up...
This story was fairly fast-paced and had a lot of action throughout. We are introduced to several characters, but I never found the story to be confusing or convoluted. These other characters are pieces of the puzzle but the main story centers on Beth and Bowie trying to chase down who really harmed Crissy Mellin years ago.
The only part of this story I can say I didn't love was aspects of the romance between Beth and Bowie. There are a few sex scenes, but nothing that I would really consider overly graphic. Almost from their first meeting, Bowie is eyeing Beth sexually. This didn't bother me but I think both characters needed more build-up and depth. Otherwise, it was hard for me to take them seriously; like they are trying to look into this botched murder investigation but also trying to immediately get laid? It didn't seem likely that either character would do that under normal circumstances. Had I gotten to know more about them, I think their attraction would have been more believable.
That said, I still enjoyed this book a lot. I could not put it down and kept coming back for a little more. It's fast-paced, the mystery is multi-faceted, and there's just enough spice to add some additional interest.

Another fantastic Sandra Brown book. I will read anything she writes! This one had me reading right until the end and I couldn't put it down. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy. I am looking forward to recommending this to our customers.

Wow what an awesome read! John Bowie ( like the knife) has always been haunted by the case of a local missing girl they couldn’t solve. Due to a cold case crime show that is producing an episode about the missing girl has the case back in Bowie’s thoughts. Throw one of the producers from the show and his old partner in to the mix they will play cat and mouse to solve the crime before the person strikes again.
