**spoiler alert** I LOVE Sandra Brown, and I was so excited to get this ARC courtesy of NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing. While this was not one of my favorite SB books and it took me longer than normal to get into, I did end up enjoying this one. I liked the dual villains and the different motive/big bad. Some of the writing felt a bit dated in description and word choice, but continues to be in Brown’s style. I definitely have preferred some other previous books more than this, but I was so excited to be able to read a new one from her before its release. Unfortunately, that means I’ll have to wait even longer for the next one???

The first thing you will notice is that there are several characters that would like the disappearance of a young girl to remain a closed issue. Even though a young man was found guilty. Even though there has never been a body. Or a motive for that matter. Two characters in particular would like this not to be reinvestigated. And that’s does not include the real murderer.
That’s just Sandra Brown setting the stage for a whirlwind crime story. Lots of finger pointing and yet there is a sense that there’s a crucial element that’s missing. Add to all that is the regrets of a local police officer. Interest of a television documentary producer that has an award worthy product waiting to air.
So John a local police officer hasn’t been able to move past his inability to solve a missing girl’s case that had ultimately led a young man to suicide. The powers that be in the department were anxious to close the case. And to John that created a tragic outcome for not only a young woman, but her mother and a good friend.
Beth is determined to get an interview with the officer that handled the case. John has never given an interview about what the department considered a cold case. That sets them at odds with their first meeting.
Sandra Brown carefully plots out what information is released. It is important to follow along with John and Beth as they at times reluctantly uncover an important fact. This prolific writer knows her way around a crime scene. And BLOOD MOON smoothly highlights what patient investigators meticulously uncover. There are several disreputable characters that round up the cast in BLOOD MOON. You can’t over the creep factor in this story. Sandra Brown makes sure to identify all the characters that have a role in this unresolved crime. As in all crime novels penned by this amazing author the guilty party or parties is uncovered. There are never any insignificant characters mentioned as an aside by Sandra Brown and that has never been more obvious than in BLOOD MOON. A warning, BLOOD MOON is fast paced and addicting.

The book's premise is super intriguing and one that caught my interest. The characters are well developed and I enjoyed the interaction between the mains and several of the the supporting cast. Everyone needs a friend like Mitch! The theme and plot are well done in this book however some parts moved a bit slowly. There are a lot of surprising twists and turns that make this a fun book to read. Many thanks to the Author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC - all opinions are mine.

When Beth Collins, a senior producer in New York on a true crime show, has a theory about the murder of a teenager that occurred more than three years ago in Auclair, Louisiana, during a blood moon, Detective John Bowie shrugs off her idea in Blood Moon by Sandra Brown coming out March 4. Most important, if Beth is right, the two must work together to prevent another young woman from disappearing during the next blood moon…in four days.

Bowie is still smarting over the investigation of Crissy Mellin’s disappearance that was derailed by his corrupt boss, who is being interviewed for Beth’s show, “Crisis Point”. Bowie has been commanded to keep to himself his criticisms about how poorly the investigation was handled. The more Bowie follows Beth’s lead about the timing of blue moons and murders, the more determined he is to go rogue and partner with three other police agencies who have had murders during a blue moon.

The cop and the producer race to pool the clues they have gathered to find the murderer before he acts again. At the same time, they are on the run from the dirty cops who want to silence the pair before they spoil everything for Bowie’s nemesis.

Publishing since 1981, Sandra Brown has written more than 70 novels. She is primarily a writer of romantic suspense with detailed sex scenes, with Blood Moon no exception. Brown has also written historical fiction about the Great Depression, titled Rainwater. Four of this native Texan’s books have been adapted to film.

My review will be posted on Goodreads starting November 3, 2024.

I would like to thank Grand Central Publishing, a division of Hatchette Book Group, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in return for an objective review.

John Bowie was a detective who had an unsolved but also "solved" case he couldn't stop thinking about. In reality, the world thought they had closed the case of Crissy Mellin, a girl who disappeared into the night. But something bothered John, including his supervisor at the department as well as his theories on what actually happened. Crisis Point, a true crime network, is hosting a documentary on the crime and has gotten almost everyone to comment on the case except for John, who again refuses because he doesn't like the answers so far. Beth is a producer with Crisis Point who essentially tricks John into meeting her, which kicks off their relationship and she brings the Blood Moon hypothesis into his life. Can they solve this together? Is John right or wrong?

Sandra Brown was one of my OG authors, back from when I was a teenager, so I was extremely excited when I got approved to read this book. My only hesitation with some of her books is the hardcore romance, which doesn't work for me, I just can't get into it. Saying all of that, I really enjoyed this book. I felt the OG Sandra Brown was back in my life. My only hesitation in not passing on five stars was I felt at times it was a bit slow to read and / or too descriptive. But, the plot and story line flowed well and it was something different you don't always read. Even the ending and resolution tricked me a bit!

I first discovered Sandra Brown about two years ago and quickly devoured her novels, captivated by the thrilling plots and rough-around-the-edges heroes clashing with strong, city-savvy heroines. Eventually, the storylines started to feel a bit repetitive—but Blood Moon manages to stand out.

In Blood Moon, Beth Collins is an executive producer for the television show Crisis Point, which is investigating the unsolved disappearance of a young woman in Louisiana three years earlier. During her research, Beth uncovers a possible link between the case and the timing of the blood moon. This leads her to Louisiana to meet John Bowie, one of the lead detectives on the original case, who is initially resistant to her investigation. But, as with many of Sandra Brown’s stories, we know that resistance won’t last. John has been haunted by the case, believing that the wrong man may have been blamed, even though the young man confessed and later took his own life while awaiting trial.

What sets Blood Moon apart from previous Sandra Brown novels is the depth of John’s character. Readers may find themselves caring for him even more than for Beth. As they dig deeper, Beth and John uncover links to other disappearances, clashing with corrupt officials in the police department and racing to prevent another disappearance with the next blood moon just days away. The story is fast-paced, and without giving away any spoilers, it reaches a satisfying conclusion.

Beth Collins is senior producer on a show CRISIS POINT. They are getting ready to air an episode about Crissy Mellin, a girl who disappeared three years ago in Louisiana. Beth goes down there because she believes it’s a serial killer and the blood moon ties into it. John Bowie is a detective with Auclair police department but has been told not to talk to Beth. John has said all along that the case was closed too early and they got the wrong guy. After the Mellin case, John drank too much and his wife left him. That case has haunted him and he wants nothing to do with Beth and her show. When John sees the news and hears that another blood moon is approaching, he tracks Beth down and agrees to help her. After contacting other police departments, they find out other women have disappeared on each blood moon. Together they investigate but John’s superior wants them silenced and nothing will stop him. Can they find the killer before another woman goes missing?
Great story. Lots of twists and turns. Pulse pounding suspense. It was an edge of your seat story. A little sex. A cop and tv show producer team up to set a wrong to right.

Another five star book by Sandra Brown!! She is a masterful storyteller of another sexy thriller. I've reread mostly all her books and can't wait for the new ones. This book her characters were very thoroughly thought through and told to readers eloquently. Beth Collins was a senior producer of the show Crisis Point which told the story of the missing Crissy Mellin from small Parish Louisiana. Beth was fact checking the story and realized that there were other girls in other states around Louisiana that also went missing and she realized they all went missing on a night of Blood Moons. Meanwhile in the Auclair police department John Bowie was trying his darnest not to get fired. John and his superior did not see eye to eye. He's also recently divorced and drinking on the heavy side.He disagrees vehemently with his superior on how the Crissy Mellin case was handled but was told by his superior to keep his mouth shut and his opinions to himself a clear case of corruption in the department. So when he gets a call for a meeting in a dive bar he doesn't think anything of it. Beth is at her wits end and decids to go to Louisiana and try to talk to Bowie who was very outspoken at the time of the case. From their first meeting there was an irresistible spark between them!! They join forces and risk their careers to investigate farther and then the surpriss just keep coming typical Sandra Brown!! A must read you will love it!!! I want to thank NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing Company for my advance copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Blood Moon tells the story of missing girls throughout several years and several states. There is a lot going on in this novel —- kidnapping, murder, numerology and other scientific theories, police conflicts and indiscretions, wrongful imprisonment and, of course, gratuitous sex always found in Sandra Brown’s novels. The book is easy reading and enjoyable —- her fans will not be disappointed. I thank NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this novel prior to publication.

I was super excited to have the opportunity to read an ARC of romantic suspense mainstay Sandra Brown's latest novel, Blood Moon. Her books are reliably entertaining, and Blood Moon is no exception.

One of the things I like best about Brown's novels is that they strike the perfect balance between suspense and romance, and for the most part, we have that here. Interestingly, neither John nor Beth are exceptionally relatable at first. I didn't dislike them, don't get me wrong. They just were both clearly flawed, and that's actually good. It enabled us to grow to like and trust them as they were growing to do the same for each other.

As far as suspense goes, there isn't a lot of edge-of-your-seat action, but the mystery builds at a decent pace, and I was compelled to keep turning pages. There's also some parallel drama to add to the intrigue, though honestly, in both cases, I would have preferred more red herrings; it wasn't hard to figure out who was bad. They were kind of textbook.

I want to avoid spoilers, but I will say that while I'm glad for the ending, I would have arrived there a little differently.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!

Sandra Brown does it again with this incredible thriller! Scorching hot with a breakneck plot, this is exactly what we’ve come to expect from this prolific and talented author.

A quick and easy read, Sandra Brown's 'Blood Moon' was exactly the escape a reader needs on an afternoon. There is a huge twist at the end that honestly made this novel a step above similar thrillers.

Thank you Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this arc in return for an honest review.

While it has the makings of a great suspense book, many parts moved at a snail’s pace. I found myself skipping ahead just to find some movement in the story.

Sandra Brown was able to write a strong thriller novel that I was looking for and enjoyed from other books by Sandra Brown. The characters were everything that I was looking for and was engaged with the overall story going on. I loved the idea of someone going missing on the blood moon.

Beth Collins, a producer and interviewer of the successful TV news magazine show, Crisis Point, comes to Auclair in Louisiana, to try to interview Det. John Bowie, on the disappearance of a young girl a few years back. While her abductors was supposedly caught and died after hanging himself in jail, there are too many loose ends to consider it solved. John was the investigating detective and she wants to interview him for her story, following a new angle: murder during the Blood Moon.
Sparks fly both professionally and personally, as they try to evade pursuers who want to remove them from their search.
Strong characters as is usual Brown's forte, and an interesting, if a little too out there for me, story line.

Beth Collins, a true crime story producer, convinces Detective John Bowie to work with her on the case of the disappearance of several young women one of whom Bowie had worked the case but was unsatisfied as to its conclusion. Beth has a theory that the disappearances are connected to the blood moon. With Beth’s production company’s lack of support and skepticism and the same for Bowie’s supervisor, they are left on their own to unravel the mystery. Their sexual chemistry draws them even closer together. There are interesting side stories along the way. I love a good mystery with unexpected surprises and I was definitely not disappointed. Even better when I don’t see them coming! A must read for all Sandra Brown fans or just fans of enjoying a great book.
