This was just a terrific read. No angst, no unwarranted breakups. Just 2 beautiful, lonely people who have been hurt in the past, opening up and loving each other. The extended family, friends, and townspeople were a great supportive cast.

I had a hard time getting into this one. I got a little bored. I'm thinking maybe the writing style just wasn't for me. I would still recommend it to someone that's looking for a romance book with no spice.

Thank you, NetGalley for early access to this audiobook! This is such an adorable next-door neighbor, grumpy/sunshine rom-com! Juliette is so sweet, awkward, and funny, I loved her in this book. Then Adrian seems so grumpy at first and a hermit with trust issues. Over time though, in this cozy, little town where everybody knows everybody and everything about each other Adrian starts softening, especially towards his neighbor, Juliette. They are such a cute couple! The way they care for one another is swoon-worthy. I loved watching their relationship grow! This sweet and cute little town reminded me of Gilmore Girls. Between the town meetings, bingo nights, and the Cafe always in routine and with so much banter with the townsfolk, it reminded me so much of watching Lorelai and Rory in Stars Hollow. I adored all the townsfolk and different personalities they brought to this story, they all had such fun banter to add. This book captures an adorable small town so perfectly. Then Adrian's siblings, especially his twin brother, were so funny. The author did a great job of capturing the sibling relationships. I am excited to read the other books in this series that follow the rest of Adrian's siblings. I definitely would recommend this book and series! Thanks again to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me have access to this audiobook.

It’s a cozy read for when you want to relax with a cup of tea. Even though I usually prefer coffee, this book made me want to revisit my old tea favorites. Juliette and Adrian were adorable, and his family was amazingly supportive. I don’t often use ‘vibes,’ but this had all the cozy vibes you could want, and the narration was well done. I enjoyed it.

It’s the first book in a series, and I am looking forward to the next book

This book was nice. Nothing groundbreaking, but nice.

I love a series that follows a family, especially when it's a bunch of boys, so I was excited to jump into this one. We get a good introduction to three of the Carter brothers and then get to follow the fourth, Adrian, as he falls for Juliet. Adrian is the classic grumpy to Juliet's sunshine. He doesn't really talk to people. Doesn't have friends. Doesn't have any interest in making friends. So naturally, his complete opposite kicks down his walls and makes him make friends and open up.

The romance was sweet. It was a good balance of tension (just kiss already!) and lovely, cute moments. The ending felt a little abrupt. I wouldn't have minded just a chapter or two more sitting in their romance with their story, but what we did get was nice.

A big complaint of mine is that we didn't really dive into each character's back story. It was mentioned that Adrian previously worked for the FBI, but he never tells Juliet and we don't hear much about it as the reader. We get a little bit more about Juliet and her difficult childhood with her parents, but again, I feel like we didn't really dive in. I wanted a little more exploration here, so I could feel the conflict and the challenges they were working to overcome.

Overall, I enjoyed this one and I think I'll check out book 2. It was nice and cute. I think it could have benefited from more details, but I still liked it.

Such an absolutely sweet book! I loved watching the dynamic of these two. I’m a sucker for a good grumpy sunshine book and this one was absolutely perfect. Such a cute story, characters that seemed so real, it pulled me in from the first moment. I don’t usually read closed door, I’ve had troubles with finding an author who does it well, but Annah Conwell is one of the few unicorns who has mastered it! I highly highly recommend this if you want a sweet fluffy read!

But, He’s My Grumpy Neighbor is the first book in the But, He’s A Carter Brother Rom come series by Anna Conwell. With the exception of the great narration by Leeanne Woodward and Evan Sibley the book leaves a lot to be desired. When the book starts Juliet is watching her new neighbor hot Adrian move in next door and at first she is confused because once she sees him he is smiling and the next he is scowling but then she realizes their twins. I thought that alone was setting me up for a great romcom read but I was wrong although cute moments like that were in the book there were few and far between and I didn’t like how angry and mean Adrian was to Juliet in the beginning and despite he’s opened up after saving her from her bad date I still don’t see how she fell for a man who is moody from the jump. I never get these grumpy sunshine books because don’t these women know that if they’re grumpy in the beginning once the newness wears off she will be left with a moody unhappy partner. That’s not to say I will not be reading the rest of these romcoms because I do like the brothers and even though I found even the dog Murphy lacked a personality I am looking forward to the other books I still recommend this however because mini reviewers opinions I respect love this book, so do read it it may just be “a me issue.” After all while rolling my eyes I didn’t press paws not one time. Not to mention they did have a few funny moments in the book in the end it’s worth getting to. #NetGalley, #DreamscapeMedia, #AnnaConWell, #ButHeIsMyGrumpyNeighbor, #ButHe’sACarterBrother, #LeanneWoodward, #EvanSibley,

I love that it says in the beginning that it's a closed door romcom where the steamiest thing talks about is kissing. I love listening to books while chasing after my kids and never know if a surprise steamy scene will pop up.

In this love story, the couple goes from neighbors to friends to maybe something more. He is former CIA and she is a dog mom who loves tea! I really want a good cup of tea right now!

Thank you to NetGallery and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

⭐☆☆☆☆

“But He’s My Grumpy Neighbor” by Annah Conwell left me feeling completely underwhelmed. While the premise of a grumpy/sunshine romance sounded promising, the execution fell flat. The characters were bland and unoriginal, making it hard to care about either of them. Adrian’s lack of trust, attributed vaguely to the CIA, was a plot point that felt forced and needed more development to be believable or engaging.

The story suffered from a lot of telling rather than showing, which resulted in a world that lacked depth and failed to draw me in. I felt the chemistry between the characters was nonexistent, and I couldn’t feel any genuine connection or tension between them. In general, this book wasn’t memorable enough for me to consider recommending it. It’s a pass from me, unfortunately, as it didn’t deliver the cozy, engaging romance I was hoping for. I hope this book finds the audience that will love it.

Juliet has a new neighbor. And boy is he attractive. But when her attempts to get to know Adrian do not go as she planned due to his grumpiness, Juliet decides to take a different approach at getting to know him. And (unsurprisingly) Adrian finds himself unable to ignore his cute blonde next-door-neighbor.

Thank you Annah Conwell and Dreamscape Media for the audiobook ARC of this delightfully refreshing book. All thoughts and opinions are mine and mine alone.

This book was one satisfying cup of tea paired with a delightful scone. All the references to classic books was the cherry on top. Although this book had a lack of a plot, it did not matter. I greatly enjoyed cheering for Adrian and Juliet and their inevitable relationship. All the encounters between the two were like scenes from a Hallmark movie that made me kick my feet up and squeal a little.

I had no issue with listening to an audiobook version of this book. It did not add or take away from the experience. The narrators were fine even if pacing was a tad slow. You cannot go wrong with listening to the audiobook or reading the hard copy of this adorable love story!

Annah Conwell has done it again with the first book in this series. I loved her Sweet Peach series so I have waited (not so patiently) for her Carter Brother series to come out. MJ was my favorite last series and her brothers DO NOT DISAPPOINT in this book. Adrian and Juliette bring banter, tough conversations, sweet sweet care, and unconditional love as they journey from grumpy/shy neighbors to something more in this novel.

"All you have to do is go over there, give him the plant, and introduce yourself. Then you can run back to your hobbit hole and overthink the entire interaction." As an overthinker married to an overthinker this quote hits oh so close to home.

But really in the end it's the truth in this quote that rings through: "Love isn't earned, it's given freely." If you find yourself in a place devoid of love or where others are making you feel like you need to earn love, know you are not alone. My prayer for you is that like Jules you can find a place where you are freely given the love that you deserve. Thanks for handling tough topics with grace, Annah!

The audio of this book is clear and easy to understand. It is well worth the listen!

3.5⭐️
I am thankful to have gotten the audioARC for free from Netgalley and Dreamscape so I can leave my voluntary review.

This was a fluffy Hallmark type movie in book form. I listened to the audio book and to be honest (well I always am but…) I stopped and started it several times. There wasn’t some specifically wrong with the narration, I just think I wasn’t jiving with the voices. It’s dual narrated by Leanne Woodward and Evan Sibley. I spend up the narration to make it easy to listen to as the original was just too slow paced for me. It made it hard for me personally to engage with the characters.

That being said, it’s a fun fluffy story where lovers of romcoms with predictable ending will eat this book up. It’s definitely a nice palette cleanser if you’re in the middle of some heavier works. The plot itself is thin but you can still enjoy the ride along the way.

The book comes out August 26th!

My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars and I rarely round up.

⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Will circle back and read again

But He’s My Grumpy Neighbor
Annah Conwell
Juliette’s parents were abusive. She learned early in life to watch people’s reactions to avoid being the brunt of their anger. Her parents were verbally abusive, physically abusive and emotionally abusive. Their abuse left her with a bad feeling about herself. She hasn’t returned home or seen her parents in several years. The abuse has left her with anxiety and panic attacks.
Adrain Carter had recently moved into the neighborhood. He chose the area for the older residents because he expected them to be quiet and mind their own business. He couldn’t help but see his next-door neighbor. He is from a close-knit family; they have family get togethers, barbecues and birthday parties. His mother passed away a few years ago. Each year they hold a family get together on the anniversary of her passing. Adrain avoids the dinners for the most part. He might put in an appearance but always leaves early.
The background of Juliette makes it difficult for her to have a relationship. She feels unworthy and she is constantly apologizing. Adrain has been deceived in past relationships mostly through his work; it has made him standoffish and grumpy.
It was fun watching these two people realize they need and love each other. I especially saw a big change in Adrain. I love the relationship between Adrain and his brothers.
I loved this tale. It was clean, fun and dynamic. There is a nice message in the plot…more than one actually”
Love is given freely and never earned.
Don’t over think.
Each day is a new beginning.
What more can I say.
Thank you NetGalley for the review copy.

But He’s My Grumpy Neighbor is the first book in Annah Conwell’s But He’s a Carter Brother series. Former FBI agent Adrian Carter has gone into business with his three brothers, Grayson, Levi, and Maverick, all former government elites, to form a protective services company in the Atlanta area. Aaron has chosen to settle down in the small community of Peach Hollow outside of the city. As his outgoing twin Grayson helps him move in to his lakeside cottage they make the acquaintance of his next door neighbor, Juliet Murphy, and her friendly dog Murphy.

Unfortunately, Juliet’s neighbor Adrian is a bit of a grump and almost a hermit when he is home. His years at the FBI had taught him not to trust easily and to keep to himself. But Juliet makes this almost impossible. It seems that wherever he goes locally, there she is, especially the village coffee shop. As the meetings keep occurring, Adrian begins looking for Juliet. But Juliet does seem to be somewhat closed off about herself prior to her time in Peach Hollow and that has his trust radar blinking.

This is a lovely first novel in a new series. In this novel all of the Carter brothers, and sister MJ, are introduced. I very much enjoyed this novel and look forward to this new series. I do recommend this book!

Adrian and Juliette chef kiss . They are so good for each other, I love how this relation grow. How they learn each other ticks and learn how to make the relationship work too. Definitely liked it a lot.

So swoony!! I have read the third book in this series and was excited to go back to the beginning and this romcom did not disappoint! Not only was the romance super swoony (that first kiss!!), but I loved the dual pov combined with the grumpy/sunshine trope. The audio narration was done so well and narrators did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life! Can't wait to finish the series!!

I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.

This was absolutely adorable! It was good, clean fun. A perfect palette cleanser in between darker or more serious reads. The characters were so likable and perfect for each other!

Sweet, cute, clean romance, small town romance. The only thing that was somewhat bothersome to me was how incredibly immature most everyone was. They’re adults and yet act like high schoolers. So while it it in fact sweet, I kept feeling as if all of the main characters (and the brothers) were all emotionally stunted.

“He’s looking at me like he’s never seen a star before and I’m a whole galaxy.”

* Okay already love them both
* His brothers are hilarious 😆
* Not the nickname Sunshine
* I’ve just gotta say it again, his brothers are too good
* Ugh I love the tragic hero who just burns with desire for the FMC
* Oh my gosh I’m tearing up over here
* That was just so sweet oh my goodness

This was SUCH a fun read! It’s my first by Annah Conwell but definitely won’t be my last. I loved the teasing and flirting and sweetness.

Juliette is so fun! I love her quirkiness and her love of their cute small town. She had a hard past, but I loved getting to see her start to work through it and heal.

Adrian is a grumpy sweetheart and I loved him! His dynamic with his brothers was HILARIOUS. And it was so sweet to see him open up and let himself love Juliette.

I love how they’re both so observant but so oblivious to how the other one feels. 😂 And their mutual love of tea was adorable! And let’s just give it up one more time for Adrian’s entire family because they were too good. 👏

“Running is like dying but without the relief of death.”

“Comparing a singles event to court is oddly accurate, though it does not soothe my anxiety in the slightest.”

“He said ‘drive safe’ but my heart heard ‘you matter’.”

Thank you to NetGalley for the ALC. I enjoyed the narrators and all opinions are my own.

Book: But He's My Grumpy Neighbor
Author: Annah Conwell
Rating: 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Another amazing book by Annah!

Now when I tell you this MMC is grumpy... well let's just say the FMC'S nickname for him is "sunshine". 🤣

I laughed so much throughout this book and also had so many deep and touched moments.

I related so much to the FMC and it was nice to read about such a realistic outcome to a troubled childhood.

I actually found myself rooting for the FMC more than the MMC in this one, but I feel it was because of that connection I felt towards her.

You get:
• Dual POV
• Grumpy X Sunshine
• Veteran MMC
• Past Family Trauma
• Found Family
• Sweet Romance
• Forced Proximity

I am so excited to pick up more by this author and I suggest you check her out too! Available on KU, ebook, paperback, and audiobook.
