This sounded so adorable, but I just couldn't get into it at all. It was boring to me and very slow. Nothing really happened and I just felt like it was too much insta love for me. I had to DNF.

You’ll love this book if you love:

This is a re-read for me but in audiobook form this time. I love the Carter brothers series! I actually read this book and then read Annah’s Sweet Peach series and read about MJ, the Carter sister.

I love everything Annah puts out but this one is probably my favorite, maybe because it was my first book by Annah. I just love the grumpy/sunshine trope with Adrian and Juliette and I love the little community they live in. I can imagine each of their houses near the lake and Adrian’s apothecary table with all the tea (Although did anyone think of Rachel from Friends when the read about the apothecary table? No? Just me? Okay...😂)

I will say the engagement scene at the end of the book is probably my all-time favorite engagement scene ever in a book.😍❤️😍 Talk about grand gesture moment. Good heavens it reminds me of The Adventure Challenge commercial called Ready for an Adventure? (It’s like 4 minutes long on YouTube but you should watch it. It’s adorable and if anybody needs a meet cute idea, this commercial is unique!)

Listening to the audiobook this time was fantastic! The narrators, Leanne Woodward and Evan Sibley sounded exactly how I thought Juliette and Adrian were to sound and when they voiced other people they’re inflections and tones were wonderful. Leanne had just the right soulfulness yet sweetness in her voice to sound like Juliette. In one chapter, Evan had to voice all 4 Carter brothers and I was impressed that I could tell the difference between all 4 of them. 5 stars for the audiobook!

4.5⭐️ but rounding up because this was absolutely adorable and so sweet. I honestly wish it were longer because it was just so cozy and perfect 😭

The fmc’s struggles with her family were toooo relatable and I just love how protective and understanding the mmc was. He is just…everything. Grumpiness and all 😂

“I commit it all to memory, because I don’t want to miss a thing.” 🩷

Thank you Dreamscape Media & NetGalley for the ARC of the audiobook!

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for an advanced audio - copy of But He's My Grumpy Neighbor, in exchange for an honest review.

'But He's My Grumpy Neighbor' by Annah Conwell is a heartwarming romantic comedy that will leave you longing for more. The story follows Juliette, a shy and introverted woman, and Adrian, a brooding and enigmatic neighbor.

Juliette's life is filled with tea, Jane Austen, and her beloved dog, Murphy. She yearns for more friends but struggles with her social skills. When she meets Adrian, who goes by the nickname 'Sunshine,' she hopes that he will become her new confidante. However, Adrian is a former CIA agent who has learned to trust no one. He is standoffish and abrupt, creating an immediate obstacle for Juliette.

Despite Adrian's initial resistance, Juliette's persistent kindness and unwavering determination begin to soften his hard exterior. As they spend more time together, Adrian realizes that Juliette's awkwardness is endearing, and her genuine nature draws him in. The author does an exceptional job of capturing the nuances of their relationship, showcasing the gradual evolution from animosity to friendship and eventually to love.

One of the standout aspects of the book is the portrayal of sibling relationships. Adrian has a close-knit family, and the author deftly captures the dynamics between the siblings. Their interactions are both hilarious and heartwarming, adding depth and dimension to the story. The author also explores themes of trust, vulnerability, and the importance of family and friendship.

The writing is engaging and flows effortlessly, keeping readers hooked from the first page to the last. The characters are relatable and well-developed, and the romance between Juliette and Adrian is both swoon-worthy and heartwarming. The author's ability to balance humor, romance, and emotional depth is truly commendable.

Overall, 'But He's My Grumpy Neighbor' is a delightful and highly recommended read for fans of romantic comedies. It is a story that will make you laugh, cry, and root for the characters every step of the way.

Narrator 5/5

But He’s My Grumpy Neighbor is my first book by this author and I thought it was so sweet and adorable. Books with small town Gilmore Girl vibes are one of my favorite things and this one had that! Bingo nights, the cute cafe, grumpy and silly towns people is what made the book so delightful. Juliette as FMC was fantastic, she was so wholesome and down to earth you couldn’t help but love her. Adrian as the MMC was also great and grumpy. Their banter was light and fluffy and gives all the feels. Jules had a shady past and I like how the author didn’t really focus on making her some kind of victim, she was portrayed as an overcomer and I liked that aspect a lot. This was a super quick read/listen. I thought the narration was done well and I am looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Thank you NetGalley for early access to the audio book for this one. I absolutely loved it and cannot say enough good things about it. The narrators were both great and did an amazing job bringing this lovely story to life.

First of all, the setting could not be any more perfect! I 💗 the adorable lake town of Peach Hollow, GA with their ridiculous town meetings (should we banish the ducks from the pond?) and bingo with the neighbors. It was just so lovely, and I could picture it in my head perfectly. I’m ready to pack my bags & move right in!

Also, I might just be the only self-proclaimed professional book lover anywhere that does not like coffee. I’m a tea drinker; like 4-5 cups a day lover of tea. It was so fun to read a book where both main characters were also tea drinkers and learning how Adrien came to love tea was just so great.

I love the grumpy/sunshine Pride & Prejudice type vibes of this book. Our FMC Juliet doesn’t get any pleasure receiving a smile from someone who just gives them out left and right. Instead, she enjoys earning them from Adrien where she has to work hard to get them. I also loved the P&P references in the book since it is one of my most favorite books ever!

This was a delightful closed door, feel good, small town romance and I just cannot wait to read the next one!

But He’s My Grumpy Neighbor is such a cute listen! The last couple books I have listened to were definitely meh. I needed some Adrian and Juliette in my life today.

Juliette lives in a little cottage in a small town in Georgia. Adrian, a hunky man, moves in next door. Adrian is gruff. He doesn’t want to interact with Juliette. He appears to have a lot on his mind. But, dang, he looks good on his morning runs.

Juliette has never dated. She escaped from her past and has led a pretty solo life. But there is something about Adrian that she is definitely drawn to.

Adrian needs social skills. Juliette needs to find a man.
Juliette feels a connection with Adrian, however Adrian is not looking for a relationship.

Both characters are awkward. Both character have big feelings.

I enjoyed this one. It was sweet and innocent. No spice and clean language. Really enjoyed it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advance listen in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Cozy book about two neighbors crushing on each other, becoming friends and then more. It was cute and wholesome. I enjoyed the scenes with the main characters with their friends the most.

This was so cute. Adrian and Juliet are neighbors who grow closer and slowly learn to open themselves up to the idea of love. This is a closed door romance with a fun cast of characters. Happy to keep reading this series. Thank you to NetGalley for audiobook access

But He’s My Grumpy Neighbor
Annah Conwell
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I feel like I’ve said this so many times but let me say it again. I love Annah Conwell’s writing! This book was just perfect. When I seen the audio on NetGalley I knew I had to grab it right away.

I devoured this book. I loved how Juliette was able to break down the walls Adrian had built around himself. In turn, Adrian gives Juliette a place to feel safe, which she never had growing up. These two balanced each other out so well and the emotional connection these two built was so perfect.

Juliette is such a relatable character. She’s an over thinker who struggles with anxiety. This mostly due to her past family trauma. The way her character is written it is so easy to connect with her. Maybe it’s just me.. but I can over think a thought like it’s my job. 😂 to hear her inner thoughts was like a look into my own.

Narration was done by Leanne Woodward and Evan Sibley. I adored this audio. These two did an amazing job bringing this book to life!

This was just a terrific read. No angst, no unwarranted breakups. Just 2 beautiful, lonely people who have been hurt in the past, opening up and loving each other. The extended family, friends, and townspeople were a great supportive cast.

I had a hard time getting into this one. I got a little bored. I'm thinking maybe the writing style just wasn't for me. I would still recommend it to someone that's looking for a romance book with no spice.

Thank you, NetGalley for early access to this audiobook! This is such an adorable next-door neighbor, grumpy/sunshine rom-com! Juliette is so sweet, awkward, and funny, I loved her in this book. Then Adrian seems so grumpy at first and a hermit with trust issues. Over time though, in this cozy, little town where everybody knows everybody and everything about each other Adrian starts softening, especially towards his neighbor, Juliette. They are such a cute couple! The way they care for one another is swoon-worthy. I loved watching their relationship grow! This sweet and cute little town reminded me of Gilmore Girls. Between the town meetings, bingo nights, and the Cafe always in routine and with so much banter with the townsfolk, it reminded me so much of watching Lorelai and Rory in Stars Hollow. I adored all the townsfolk and different personalities they brought to this story, they all had such fun banter to add. This book captures an adorable small town so perfectly. Then Adrian's siblings, especially his twin brother, were so funny. The author did a great job of capturing the sibling relationships. I am excited to read the other books in this series that follow the rest of Adrian's siblings. I definitely would recommend this book and series! Thanks again to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me have access to this audiobook.

It’s a cozy read for when you want to relax with a cup of tea. Even though I usually prefer coffee, this book made me want to revisit my old tea favorites. Juliette and Adrian were adorable, and his family was amazingly supportive. I don’t often use ‘vibes,’ but this had all the cozy vibes you could want, and the narration was well done. I enjoyed it.

It’s the first book in a series, and I am looking forward to the next book

This book was nice. Nothing groundbreaking, but nice.

I love a series that follows a family, especially when it's a bunch of boys, so I was excited to jump into this one. We get a good introduction to three of the Carter brothers and then get to follow the fourth, Adrian, as he falls for Juliet. Adrian is the classic grumpy to Juliet's sunshine. He doesn't really talk to people. Doesn't have friends. Doesn't have any interest in making friends. So naturally, his complete opposite kicks down his walls and makes him make friends and open up.

The romance was sweet. It was a good balance of tension (just kiss already!) and lovely, cute moments. The ending felt a little abrupt. I wouldn't have minded just a chapter or two more sitting in their romance with their story, but what we did get was nice.

A big complaint of mine is that we didn't really dive into each character's back story. It was mentioned that Adrian previously worked for the FBI, but he never tells Juliet and we don't hear much about it as the reader. We get a little bit more about Juliet and her difficult childhood with her parents, but again, I feel like we didn't really dive in. I wanted a little more exploration here, so I could feel the conflict and the challenges they were working to overcome.

Overall, I enjoyed this one and I think I'll check out book 2. It was nice and cute. I think it could have benefited from more details, but I still liked it.

Such an absolutely sweet book! I loved watching the dynamic of these two. I’m a sucker for a good grumpy sunshine book and this one was absolutely perfect. Such a cute story, characters that seemed so real, it pulled me in from the first moment. I don’t usually read closed door, I’ve had troubles with finding an author who does it well, but Annah Conwell is one of the few unicorns who has mastered it! I highly highly recommend this if you want a sweet fluffy read!

But, He’s My Grumpy Neighbor is the first book in the But, He’s A Carter Brother Rom come series by Anna Conwell. With the exception of the great narration by Leeanne Woodward and Evan Sibley the book leaves a lot to be desired. When the book starts Juliet is watching her new neighbor hot Adrian move in next door and at first she is confused because once she sees him he is smiling and the next he is scowling but then she realizes their twins. I thought that alone was setting me up for a great romcom read but I was wrong although cute moments like that were in the book there were few and far between and I didn’t like how angry and mean Adrian was to Juliet in the beginning and despite he’s opened up after saving her from her bad date I still don’t see how she fell for a man who is moody from the jump. I never get these grumpy sunshine books because don’t these women know that if they’re grumpy in the beginning once the newness wears off she will be left with a moody unhappy partner. That’s not to say I will not be reading the rest of these romcoms because I do like the brothers and even though I found even the dog Murphy lacked a personality I am looking forward to the other books I still recommend this however because mini reviewers opinions I respect love this book, so do read it it may just be “a me issue.” After all while rolling my eyes I didn’t press paws not one time. Not to mention they did have a few funny moments in the book in the end it’s worth getting to. #NetGalley, #DreamscapeMedia, #AnnaConWell, #ButHeIsMyGrumpyNeighbor, #ButHe’sACarterBrother, #LeanneWoodward, #EvanSibley,

I love that it says in the beginning that it's a closed door romcom where the steamiest thing talks about is kissing. I love listening to books while chasing after my kids and never know if a surprise steamy scene will pop up.

In this love story, the couple goes from neighbors to friends to maybe something more. He is former CIA and she is a dog mom who loves tea! I really want a good cup of tea right now!

⭐☆☆☆☆

“But He’s My Grumpy Neighbor” by Annah Conwell left me feeling completely underwhelmed. While the premise of a grumpy/sunshine romance sounded promising, the execution fell flat. The characters were bland and unoriginal, making it hard to care about either of them. Adrian’s lack of trust, attributed vaguely to the CIA, was a plot point that felt forced and needed more development to be believable or engaging.

The story suffered from a lot of telling rather than showing, which resulted in a world that lacked depth and failed to draw me in. I felt the chemistry between the characters was nonexistent, and I couldn’t feel any genuine connection or tension between them. In general, this book wasn’t memorable enough for me to consider recommending it. It’s a pass from me, unfortunately, as it didn’t deliver the cozy, engaging romance I was hoping for. I hope this book finds the audience that will love it.
