LOVEEEEEEE. oh my gosh this was such a fun book and i couldnt put it down! I absolutely loved these two together and couldnt get enough of them. Adrian and Juliette were the perfect grumpy sunshine duo and i absolutely loved these two together. This man was the sweetest with her and melted my heart completely! The small town vibes were there for sure and i just love his family and cannot wait for the rest of the siblings stories!!

I have been wanting to read this series for a long time and was excited to have the opportunity to listen to the audiobook version of this book. I am definitely hooked on the Carter family and already eager to read the next book in this series.
This story itself was a softer romance for me. It wasn't necessarily slow, but it felt like there was a more slow burn pace in ways as the main characters both had reasons for keeping others at arm's length and needed to establish a friendship base before switching to the romance. It truly felt like watching two people you know naturally fall in love. There wasn’t necessarily a big conflict to overcome other than the MCs getting out of their own way. They both had some really difficult pasts and heavy things to overcome, which we do see some growth in at least opening up to each other about those memories.
I liked both characters and their opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine vibe. The secondary characters of the Carter siblings really made things fun and I cannot wait to read more of their stories even more now. The ending (the love letters) was super cute and made me smile a lot. The kisses were also well done.
I received an advance listening copy of this book from Dreamscape Media and Netgalley. I found the narrators easy to understand at whichever speed I chose to listen to. I liked the dual POV and dual narration. All thoughts and opinions are my own. 4.5 stars

Actual rating 4.25. Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape for the advance copy! I thought this book was really enjoyable. This was a sweet story about two people who had been through a lot and had found ways to cope, both keeping others at a distance. I wasn't sure how I was going to like this after the "closed door romance" disclaimer, but I loved it even without the spice. I loved the characters and the setting. Their story was soft and lovely and I was rooting for them the whole time. I am so ready to read the rest of the series.

I’m a tad shy of giddy over this ‘new-to-me author’ discovery. I’ve been hearing ‘Annah Conwell this, and Annah Conwell that’ all over book tube and Bookstagram lately and I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about. And, oh my, now I understand!!!!

5 bazillion stars into infinity AND, be still my heart(!) because this is the first book in the Carter Brothers series and having met Adrian’s brothers I absolutely need more!!!!!!

And I do so love a good grumpy/sunshine trope and this one is fantastically wonderful! Adrian is all ‘nothing to see here, move along now I have no intention of being neighbourly…ever’ and Juliette is an over the top best neighbour ever (if you’re in the mood to have the bubbly, cheerful, klutzy kind living next door.) Adrian isn’t…at least that’s what he thinks. Priceless!!!!!! And so much FUN!!!

The small town setting with the majority of it’s population at 60+ adds to the humour (and explains why Juliette is so over the moon excited to have a new neighbour moving in next door who is most decidedly under 60!)

Clear off your fainting couch and practise your swoon dives because this deliciously slow-burn romance captures all the feels. Toe curling kisses included. Humour and angst blend perfectly to create a fulfilling read. And while this is a rom/com, the author brings added depth to the story by touching on a few more serious topics – issues our hero and heroine need to work through before they can reach their happily ever after. It never gets too heavy, Conwell approaches sensitive material with grace and hope…and yes, even humour. Just makes the story that much more emotionally satisfying.

And did I mention the Carter brothers? Some of the best scenes in the book include brotherly banter and camaraderie. I’m left with a real sense of who these guys are, each one with their own hint of mystery that makes me desperate to read their stories sooner than later.

An emotional romance that sizzles and sparks — without the spice. Sweet perfection!

I listened to the audio edition narrated by Leanne Woodward and Evan Sibley. They did a fantastic job bringing Adrian and Juliette (and all the characters) to life. A great narrator/author match which I really appreciate. Love when the narration enhances an already amazing story to new levels and that was definitely the case here.

My thanks to the author, Dreamscape Media and Net Galley for providing me with an audio copy of this book.

Thank you to Annah Conwell, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for allowing me to listen to a free eaudio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute story, and overall I enjoyed it. But I gotta get a little rant out of my system.

What I did not enjoy is how much Adrian's family and friends harangued him about being taciturn and internalized. Yeah, it's good to open up if something's bothering you, otherwise leave the poor man alone! It's OKAY to not be extroverted, outgoing, and heart-on-sleeve. All you're doing is giving him a complex, making him feel guilty for just being himself, which will only lead to a lifetime of inadequacy, anxiety, resentment, and more. Let him know you're a safe zone, then leave it up to him. You don't have to tease him or comment on his "flaw" every time you open your mouth. Gah!

Adrian and Juliet were great characters, down to earth and relatable. I don't feel Juliet's conflict came full circle, though; she needed an opportunity to confront her parents and reconcile with her past trauma. It's obvious Conwell was having more fun writing about the Carters. ;)

Grayson was fun, but the worst culprit of guilting Adrian. Learning he has panic attacks didn't feel right for his character; I needed to learn more about him for that to make sense, but he wasn't the focus here so we're left wondering. The rest of the gang was also great to be around, though this has to be a spin off of another series---it was alluded to again ad again. (*investigates* Yes, Adrian's sister MJ starred in One Last Play.)

I appreciated Conwell highlighting anxiety disorders, but it was a tad heavy-handed. And am I the only one getting sick of romances paying homage to Jane Austen? If the characters are fans, fine, but I'm sick of all the references and comparisons. I get it, she's one of the beloved pioneers of romantic fiction, I've enjoyed her work, too, but stop beating me over the head with it.

Overall, this is a sweet, heart-warming romance, and I'm looking forward to the other Carter brothers books.

Super easy, cute, and cozy listen.

The narrators were good! I did feel like the male narrator was doing too much, but the female was great :)

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced audio copy.

Juliette has a solitary job and she has no local friends around her age. She grew up in a family that only criticized her and never expressed any love. She's acknowledged that she's lonely and has decided to try internet dating. She loves tea and rereading her favorite books.

Adrian has a security company and he's been in secretive jobs in the past. He's really never dated. He's intrigued by the woman next door, but he's been burned by someone he trusted in the past. Although he's close to his brothers, he may be ready for a relationship with a woman, but he's hesitant.

Grumpy and Sunshine, they clash at first, but begin to find things that make them compatible. There are a few false starts and funny events. The book is well written and fun to read. It is completely clean.

I listened to the audio version. I thought both narrators were great.

I’ve been dying to read this series for a while now and haven’t had the time to physically read it. So when I saw the advanced listening copy on NetGalley I jumped at the opportunity to listen.

But He’s My Grumpy Neighbor was such a fun and sweet read! I loved the dual POV and dual narration. For me, having both is preferred. It is so interesting to get in the head of each main character. And the narrators for this one were perfect!

If you love dual PoV, grumpy/sunshine, strangers to more, found family, a sweet slow burn but also like some depth this book is for you!

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape for the ALC, all opinions are my own.

I’m going to start out by saying that the lower rating is me, not the book. The content warning at the beginning outlined that the book is PG- no sex, no swearing, etc. I didn’t realize that when I requested it from NetGalley as I otherwise would have passed. That said, it was very good for what it was- cute, cozy and quirky. Juliet and Adrian navigate their anti-social and/or anxiety issues to become friends and eventually more. I enjoyed the narration. It was a cute and easy listen!

I read this earlier this year and loved it so much!! I love this series and all of Annah Conwell’s books I’ve read so I was so excited to reread this on audio! I loved the narrators — they felt like they fit the characters so well.

I kept wanting to listen to it and finished it very fast! I would highly recommend this read physically and the audio! Sweet wholesome romcom and no spice!

Book 1 in a new series

Juliette is lonely. She ran from her past and chose her cozy cottage on a lake outside of Atlanta for the solitude. Her neighbors are all senior citizens and she craves someone her age to talk to. When a hot guy around her age moves in, she perks up. But Adrian is perpetually grumpy. Still, when they keep running into each other she thinks she is wearing him down. Until he outright rejects her and she is emotionally thrown into her past where no one, not even her parents, wanted her.

This was an okay read for me. On paper, it should have been great. It is more than fluff- both characters have things from their past to get over. They are in an adorable community full of crazy senior citizens. But something was missing. While Juliette and Adrian's relationship was adorable, it lacked chemistry. But it also felt like something else was missing, too, but I can't figure it out.

Leanne Woodward and Evan Sibley narrate the audiobook. It is mostly ok, but parts of Adrian's POV were obviously redone and dubbed in. It was very noticeable when that happened.

I received an advance audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

Book 1 of 4 standalones that follow each of the Carter brothers.

I loved this cozy contemporary romance. Although there was fade-to-black instead of some spice, I did enjoy this for all of the tension, angest, pining, and swooning.

Two people who decide they prefer being alone move into a very quiet retirement neighbourhood..... next door to each other.

*que cheesy romance novel*

Bahahaha but no, it wasn't cheesy, and quite refreshing.

Such a cute closed door romance! Handled though topics with so much care and in a way that didn't feel heavy in this light romcom

Thank you to netgalley for the alc in exchange for an honest review.

This was super cute! Juliette lives in what I would deem a retirement community. I loved the people of the town, gave me Stars Hallow vibes with their community meetings. Adrian moves in next door to Juliette and he just wants to be left alone. Juliette, though, thinks he needs friends and has volunteered herself to be his first.
Watching Adrian go from a huge grump to a super protective friend was everything. The way these two make each other better by just being around 🤌 lt was closed door with just a few kisses, but I definitely still felt their chemistry.

Thank you Annah Conwell, Dreamscape Media, and Netgalley for my #gifted ALC.

An adorable Grumpy/Sunshine set in a small town retirement community.

What you’ll find:
Grumpy/Sunshine
Dual POV
A mutual love of tea
A hand written note
Concussion
“Good girl!”
A found family

Quotes from the classics

I loved watching Juliette work through issues from her childhood with Adrian as a support. I loved watching Adrian find someone he cared enough for to want to work through the issues he had from the last in learning to trust someone again.

These broody Mr Darcy types always end up holding the most depth to their affection!

The audio readers were both great!
