I absolutely LOVED Pictures of You. It's real, raw, emotional, romantic and envelopes you as you read. It will make you believe in a second chance at love and forgiveness. I thought The Last Love Note was a great book, but I think Pictures of You is Emma Grey's best yet!
OMG I loooooooved this book so much! I love a second chance story about the "one who got away" and I couldn't get enough of this one. Loved the dual POV as well as the past/present timelines - this was woven together perfectly. Loved this one so much.
This one is going to be big! A love story about second chances, lost memories, abuse, true friendship. Be ready to feel all of the emotions!
I am keeping my review short and to the point to prevent any potential spoilers because this, my friends, is one you want to go into completely blind. I knew I loved Emma Grey’s writing style as soon as I read her previous book, The Last Love Note.
As soon as I saw she had a new book releasing, I jumped at the chance to read it. And my goodness, it did not disappoint. With characters who feel so incredibly real, a dynamic plot line, twists and turns throughout, and the inclusion of real world issues, make this a winner through and through. Trust me, you need to read this one.
TW: There are a few. Please make sure to check triggers beforehand if you are sensitive to them.
Thank you Zibby for the advanced copy.
Short synopsis: Evie wakes up in the hospital after an accident that killed her husband, but she doesn’t remember anything after her teenage years.
My thoughts: I’ve been trying to figure out how to write up my review for this to avoid spoilers, and briefly just thought of doing crying and angry emojis. But this book made me feel all the feelings. Pain, anger, tears of sadness and happiness, shock, grief, nostalgia, you name it.
I absolutely adored Drew. He was such an amazing character and friend to Evie, especially when she didn’t deserve it. I loved finding out her memories along with her as the timeline from her teen years slowly unfolds to the present timeline.
I did not expect so many shocking moments and unexpected twists. I knew going in this would make me cry. The Last Love Note was one of my favorite books of 2024 and this is immediately one of my favorites of 2025. I will read anything Emma writes.
Read if you love:
- Dual POV
- Alternating Timelines
- Books with big emotions
- Amnesia
- Second chances
Thanks to Zibby Books for the ARC!
THE LAST LOVE NOTE destroyed me last year, so PICTURES OF YOU was one of my most highly anticipated reads of 2024. WHEW DID IT DELIVER. If you need an emotional rollercoaster of a romance, this is the book for you.
About the book: Evie Hudson wakes up after a car crash that killed her husband and landed her in the hospital... but instead of grieving, she can't remember anything since she was 16 years old. With the help of her high school best friend, Drew Kennedy, she starts to piece togther what happened and who she is now.
My review: *insert all the emotional emojis* What a story. Not only is the amnesia piece top-notch, but the reveals were SPOT ON. There were so many good twists that just added to the gut-wrenching emotional story, and the romance storyline was so sweet and perfect. I love Drew. What an ode to second chances even though hard, hard circumstances.
An all consuming emotional roller coaster!
Emma Grey! You gave us #PicturesOfYou and now here I am - #AHugeFanOfYou for life.
Thanks NetGalley and Libby books for the ARC.

Oh my goodness! If anything could’ve lived up to Emma’s previous book #TheLastLoveNote, it had to be this. Her writing has matured leaps and bounds - every single sentence has a lyrical quality and poignancy to it. It was utter bliss to experience the prose in the book.
As the crash becomes a life defining moment in Evie’s life, the division between her present and past was not easy to unpack. But @emmagreyauthor rises to the challenge - portraying Evie’s existential crisis and previous timelines with great care, nuance and delicacy.
The crux of the storyline relies on how the mystery element behind Evie’s current state of affairs is handled, as well as the suspense behind the impossibility of past circumstances that might have catapulted her into this chaos - both emotionally and intellectually.
As the pieces of her past unravel slowly, several difficult themes are imbued into the story, while also exploring extraordinary friendships, the ambitions and dreams of someone full of life and light like Evie, the heartache of love, the joy of photography and the bioluminescent magic of life if we care to see.
It all comes together so naturally in the end and by this time your heart has shattered 💔, cried in agony, seethed in anger, sang in merriment and awe 💓- stunned with every revelation of truth.
Read it, feel it, experience it.
Highly recommend! If you read one book this year, make it this.
At the very start of this book, Evie wakes up in the hospital and is told she and her husband were in a terrible car crash; she survived but he did not. But she has amnesia and doesn’t remember anything past being 16 years old. The book alternates between Evie trying to figure out what she missed down and track down the parents and best friend who are apparently no longer in her life, interspersed with flashbacks to Evie’s life from age 16 to the present.
I loved this one, even if at times I wanted to give young Evie a good shake! There were a lot of serious and heavy subjects, but it’s written with a light touch. It felt like a combination of Liane Moriarty, Jojo Moyes, and Sophie Cousens. I also loved Emma Grey’s first book The Last Love Note - this one was different but also really good!
Another of my very favorites of the year. A car crash followed by amnesia drives a young woman to search for her friends and family and put the pieces of her life back together. I loved this story.
(4.5) I simply devoured this. After loving The Last Love Note, I have been counting down the days until this book released so I could hold it in my greedy little hands. Immediately, I was so sucked in and before I knew it I read nearly 100 pages without even blinking. Okay, not really but it flew by. I don't know if there was speed reading magic laced in these pages, but I seriously could not put it down. The back and forth timelines, the dual, and all the missing pieces just made this an absolutely gripping story. I might have ignored a few responsibilities so I could binge this, but shhh. I adore Grey's writing style. It's easily digestible while being beautifully scripted. I love that both this book and her previous had love at their center, but focused on so many different emotions. The way this story is crafted made these characters feel incredibly real. I was a bit shocked by the route it went there for a bit but such a great story!
Thank you NetGalley and Zibby books for the e-arc.
If you knew then, what you know now, would you make the same choices?
When Evie wakes in the hospital after a devastating car accident, she learns her husband Oliver died in the crash.
But that’s not the only loss. Evie doesn’t remember Oliver. Or most of her adult life.
She panics at the funeral, not knowing anyone - Where are her parents? Her best friend? - and runs right into the arms of a complete stranger who helps her leave the strange situation.
But is Drew really a stranger?
I loved The Last Love Note by Emma Grey and yet again, she has written a story that hits you in the gut right out the gate and has you in an emotional chokehold the entire story. The writing is compelling and engaging and the plot propels you along at a breakneck speed with masterful, surprising twists.
I enjoyed every minute of this unforgettable story and I think it’s the perfect read for fans of Emily Giffin, Colleen Hoover, and Liane Moriarty. Or, like me - big fans of Emma Grey. 😊
What a binge worthy read! It gave me “Mayluna” vibes. I loved the hint of mystery, the multiple timelines and the two POV. I read it in one sitting and appreciated the depth and layers of the story. This one is really good! Thank you for the ARC!
I loved The Last Love Note by Emma Grey earlier this year and was thrilled to see she had a new one coming out today. I went into this pretty blind, only knowing a young woman wakes up in a hospital and remembers nothing of the last 13 years of her life.
The story is told through two POVs, alternating between Evie, the young woman, and Drew, a photojournalist who rescues her. Their stories are told through alternating timelines of their teen years and as adults. There are several interesting twists and although I could clearly see what was happening between young Evie and boyfriend Oliver I couldn’t stop reading. My heart broke for Evie and what she went through.
Pictures of You does tackle some heavy topics but with compassion and grace. It offered a layered view of how toxic relationships can evolve almost before anyone knows it’s happening. This was definitely an emotional read that was compelling and unique. The ending seemed a bit abrupt - but it didn’t spoil my enjoyment of this novel. 4.5⭐️
Emma Grey is quickly becoming an autobuy author for me. I loved The Last Love Note and I adored Pictures of You. The very beginning sucked me right in to this story and the twists just kept coming. I loved Evie and Drew’s relationship and felt all the emotions of this book. The audio with dual narrators was perfection as well!
The story opens with Emma waking up in hospital finding out her husband has passed away but she has no memory of her recent years. In her mind she is still 16.
From there the story unfolds told in multiple timelines of past and present to put the pieces together of Emma’s life. There is a bit of mystery and events that have happened. Go in blind and just let the book take you on a journey. The story telling is just amazing. You won’t regret it- such a captivating read.
If you haven’t read a book by Emma Grey yet, you need too!! Her debut, The Last Love Note was absolutely incredible read. Her second book comes out next week and it is such a beautifully written story too! I have seen several friends say Pictures of You is one of their top reads of this year and I have to agree
I became a huge Emma Grey fan after reading her novel THE LAST LOVE NOTE last year and now I will read anything she writes!
This novel was very different than LOVE NOTE. Similar in the fact that they both have a romance and love story being told and a hard subject being worked out (grief and/or emotional abuse), but different everywhere else😆
I think this book is best read going in blind, but I’ll quickly intro it saying this book is about Evie Hudson and the aftermath of her waking up with amnesia after a car accident. She only remembers life until high school, so why does she suddenly have a husband, in-laws, and non of her old friends.
This book is incredibly entertaining! It will keep you turning the pages and will go places you weren’t ready for. And I love that! BUT, there was a certain point when this book started to feel like a soap opera. I don’t know if it was the amnesia premise or some of the specific storylines, but it was too many wild coincidences for me. And I’m incredibly sorry to say this (Emma I hope you never see this, I love you!😫), but it became eye-rolling for me by the end.
I’m still going to absolutely recommend this book because I think many readers will absolutely lap this up! And I will continue to read everything this author writes because she’s so gifted and an absolute gem in this community!
WHAT DID I JUST READ?! And I mean that in the best way possible!! This book came to an abrupt end and all I could think was I need more!! Because that’s how good this book was and how addictive Emma Grey’s writing is. If you pick this book up, make sure you have the time to read it because I could not put it down.
“For so long, she was the story I wanted to capture, until the images corrupted and all the editing in the world wouldn’t rally the happy ending I’d hoped for.”
So Evie wakes up in the hospital and can’t remember the last thirteen years of her life. She finds out her husband, who she doesn’t remember, is dead and her life is not at all what she thought it would be. A chance meeting connects her with Drew, who knows a lot more about Evie than she realizes, and this leads her on the road to discovering the truth of the last thirteen years.
“This is a New Year’s Eve kiss with a stranger and it’s a kiss with someone you’ve known several lifetimes.”
It’s so hard to review this book without giving spoilers. Grey expertly reveals things at just the right time, going back and forth between the past and the present. To see the way things unfold will have you screaming at your book. The twist and turns..ohhhh the places this book went…I WAS NEVER EXPECTING. The amnesia trope is so perfectly done and unique! At the core of it, though, is a beautiful romance that absolutely made me ache. Drew and Evie…ughhh FINALLY!! I love this book with my whole heart and soul. I’ll read anything that Emma writes. PLEASE JUST READ THIS BOOK!

📖Title: Pictures of You
✍️Author: Emma Grey
📆Pub Date: November 12, 2024
💙After reading and ADORING Emma's previous novel THE LAST LOVE NOTE, I had very high expectations for PICTURES OF YOU. I'm happy to report that I loved this one just as much, if not more!!
📷Wow-I was truly blown away by the level of depth and thought put into this multi-layered story. It's not often that a romance novel has jaw-dropping twists and turns along the way, but this one shocked me several times.
🌊The level of detail put into this one to make all the pieces fit so perfectly together really impressed me. Emma's attention to detail really shines through in so many aspects of the book: the title, the cover, etc.
📷I really think you should go into this book knowing as little as possible. Trust the journey and you won't be disappointed! I think this would make an amazing bookclub pick!
In PICTURES OF YOU, Emma Grey tells the story of Evie Hudson, a woman who wakes up after a tragic accident. Her husband dead, Evie struggles to figure out how she wound up living the life documented in pictures and in the memories of those who she cannot understand without the help of a best friend who has known her and loved her all along, to a time when Evie gets another chance to live the life of her dreams by rummaging through the wreckage of a picture-perfect, unfeeling life and making different choices this time. I love second chance stories and this well-written, fantastically gripping story did that plus kept me up too late reading just one more page of taut, believable, and original story. I received a copy of this book and these opinions are my own, unbiased thoughts.
I wanted to like this one so much and thought it had so much potential. I really liked the different pov’s and the different time lines but because so much was in the past it read pretty much as a YA. Nothing wrong with that but I wanted more in her older years and when we got to those in the book I felt like that part was rushed. And I think it felt the author was just making it too convenient with all the things tying everything to the dad.
Not a bad read, not my favorite.
