I thought that this book was brilliant - I absolutely loved this book!
This is a really great way to learn the alphabet and I loved the different approaches used by the author. The illustrations were great and they really suited the book and the way it was written,
The layout was great, it was nice, bright and clear. There were facts about the animals on the different pages too which was a great touch and extra things to learn as you turn the pages too. My daughter thought that the book was great.
It is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended!
I received a copy of this eBook from NetGalley for a honest review.
The amazing animals in this alphabet book are so colorfully shown in the drawings. I love the little known animals as well as more common ones being placed in this book. I also liked the questions with each animal to engage with kids over.
This is a lovely book. I very much like the questions on each page that engage the child in an action, such as ‘Can you roar like a lion?’ . There are references to God throughout, in line with the authors beliefs. . Beautifully illustrated and designed.
I really like the concept. A different animal for each letter, a cute little rhyme describing them and a question on each page to open up conversation. I wasn’t too keen on the pictures of the animals, covered in patterns and colours. I think this book would appeal to a wider audience with more traditional drawings of the animals, and without the mention of God on every page.
Thank you to NetGalley/the publisher/author for this eARC.
Thank you, Netgalley, for the opportunity to read and review this book. My opinions are completely my own.
I very much enjoyed this animal alphabet book. It was interactive and the illustrations bright.
Perfect for a small child trying to learn
Curious rhymes and illustrations.
Had I known the verses would be about God and creation, I would not have requested this book.
Good book for believers.
Very colourful A-Z animal book, with each critter getting two pages to itself. One is a portrait, showing the dynamism of the art here, with thickish bold lines outlining the creature and emphasising the patterning on each, and the other has a rhyming couplet, and something for us to do or think about or just answer, such as can we mimic a lion, move as hushed as a viper, or have we seen a whale. The issue then for me was not the gaudiness of it all – that koala looks like it was dipped in the leftover vats of ink from hippie LP covers of the 1960s – but the way each and every rhyme's second line asserted that God was to blame for everything here. God didn't make the owl's silent flight, or even the pig's snort – it was evolution, and this is purely for the minority audience who dismiss that for the other. They are brilliantly, confidently served, with a fine approach and style belying the creator's youth (the end matter says she's 15 – oh, and a veggie, which allegedly makes her more special), but it didn't end up as a book suited for my wishes. Close to five stars for the believers (that Friesian horse's mane is far too OTT to be ignored), but closer to my mark for the rest of us.
This a bright and colourful depiction of the alphabet where each letter is linked to an animal. There is also a little rhyme/description next to the animal with links to God.
The illustrations within are fantastic and engaging.
This is definitely a book aimed at those who believe in God, so may not be suited to those who are not religious.
This is a great resource for learning the alphabet! So colourful, vibrant and engaging. I can't believe the author/illustrator is only 15! So creative and impressive. I loved the rhyming and the animals
A nicely written alphabet book with unique and astonishing graphic design which is, best of all, authored and illustrated by an insanely talented 15 year old young woman, of great talent. This is a lovely book and quite nitcely done, worth a purchase.
What a precious picture book! I loved the illustrations and I love even more that it can show my students that you can be an author illustrator at the age of 15! The pictures were very vibrant and imaginative. I like the clean and neat choice in fonts as well. I love the variety of species used as well. Such well done children's book.
