I absolutely loved that the audiobook was narrated by the author Julianne Hough! She has the perfect audiobook voice. I was drawn in deep immediately with this book! I found it very relatable and it was an interesting take on belief systems and how they work within our lives with our partners, families and friends.

Thank you Net Galley for the audiobook preview of this book!

I’ve given this a 2-3 star rating. I think the content of the book in the end just didn’t appeal to me but in terms of being able to listen to the audio it’s narrated by Julianne herself and I’m a big fan of her generally so I enjoyed that aspect of it. I did find some of the vocab unusual and repetitive. Aside from the issues I had personally with the content I’m sure others would enjoy this.

When I received an email about a local event featuring the author of this book, THE Julianne Hough, from Sourcebooks - I was so excited! Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the event, but due to the always gracious @sourcebooks I was sent a physical copy of the book ☺️

The MC, Lexi, is completely caught off guard when she suddenly is able to feel other people’s emotions, and even times has glimpses into their most personal memories. Exploring the realm of her own spirituality, after being known as an expert in denial, she is forced to confront the changes that are going on within and around her.

I went into this book completely blind, other than knowing of the author from her other professional endeavors, so when I tell you I didn’t know what to expect with this book, I mean it! I was quickly hooked with the fast paced start to the book and the way in which it had me guessing as to what exactly was going on with Lexi. As the book continued on, it explored concepts in spirituality - specifically related to energy, auras and healing powers. For a bit I struggled with this and couldn’t necessarily figure out why - until today it hit me, it’s because these types of spirituality concepts are things that are very foreign to me. I know of them in the sense that I know what the word means, but other than that, I’m pretty green to the concepts that this book portrayed. I’m not one to shy away from reading something that I may not fully understand or concepts I don’t fully grasp, as that’s all part of learning & growing, and I’m glad I didn’t let my confusion be the exception to this rule for me!

Beyond the spirituality concepts, this book has a great message of trusting your gut, facing challenges head on, confronting your past and feeling your emotions. I did enjoy this book and was even more intrigued when I found out that this was very personal for the author. Specifically noting that as Julianne Hough’s dive into the world of writing this book it is an overall poignant & personal journey for her, written through the lens of fiction - one that I did enjoy reading!

PS - I was also able to alternate between the physical book and the audiobook, thanks to @RBmedia & Julianne narrates the book herself! She has such a soothing, precise and beautiful voice, making the narration & audiobook version of this book extra enjoyable!

Unfortunately, this was a DNF for me. I wasn't connecting with the story, and I have so many other books to read so I decided to move on. I looked at other reviews which weren't great so after reading those I decided to move on to another book.

"Everything We Never Knew" offers an intriguing narrative set in the serene landscapes of Utah, weaving themes of trauma, healing, and metaphysical exploration into the story. The protagonist, Lexi, embarks on a journey of self-discovery that ultimately leads to profound personal healing. However, the book’s heavy emphasis on spiritual and metaphysical elements felt overdone to me, and the writing style didn’t fully resonate. Despite my difficulties connecting with the story, it may resonate deeply with readers who appreciate a more ethereal, introspective approach.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

I’m a fan of Julianne Hough and her career I’ve followed loosely through Dancing With the Stars. The book was an easy listen, Julianne narrated the audiobook herself. The book mentions the LDS community, which is a big part of her story. But the MC is not a member of the church and is coming into new beliefs and ways to see the world. The plot is simply how to cope with being a different person as a true adult than the person you thought you were as a teenager/young adult. How do we deal with conflict and relationship issues? We walk through these questions with Lexi, the MC, and her people.

I found it interesting and entertaining. Maybe strange if taken literally, but take it as what you want.

I really tried with this audio book. I got about 70% through and I just couldn't finish. I did not enjoy the characters or the energy parts. It was too much.

I hope I will have an opportunity to preview other titles from RB Media. I did not post this review on Good Reads so that my review did not taint others as it may just not have been for me.

I really enjoyed this audiobook, the concept was fascinating and really well executed. The writing was beautiful and described things I probably would have had a hard time wrapping my head around really well. The only issue in this entire book is and I don’t know if I just somehow missed the explanation because I’m surprised. The issue is that Lexi did an action that would impact her financial lay and she mentioned that but after that no one brought it up. She was still spending heaps clearly. I still will love to recommend this book though!

I loved this story. Such a fun read that had my heart strings pulled for Lexi. This was a really unique story that allowed us to jump into the experience of Lexi as she starts to gain an understanding of a deeper version of herself. She pushed limits in her relationships, stepped out of her comfort zone, and allowed herself to explore in the effort of personal growth. Very great story to read. Thank you to NetGalley and RB Media for the opportunity to read an advance review copy of this book

I was excited to read something written by Julianne Hough and the blurb/premise caught my attention.

It opened strong and I really liked Lexi. I liked her interaction with the person she didn't know and that part of the book. I did like her friend group.

But then it got very intense into energies and things, and I won't like, at times I was confused. I think this one just wasn't my jam. It was okay for me.

I did enjoy that she narrated the audio.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Sourceboosks Landmark and RBMedia for an eARC and ALC.

Thank you Netgalley and the author for the ARC of this audiobook.
The cover of this book is stunning, the book itself was just not for me, but I'm sure it will do well with others.

The cover of this book is an immediate eye-catcher, and then it sort of goes downhill from there... I listed to the audiobook, and while the story starts off interesting, with beautiful imagery, it really veers into a different direction as the rest of the story unfolds. While this book could have been an incredible journey into a woman harnessing her new powers among those around her, it instead becomes a bit of a self-centred, flat, dive into a bit of this new-age, self-help, look into herself. I did not connect with this book at all, the characters were one dimensional, and the disappointment is further increased when the first chapter gets your hopes up only to let you down. I do think this book would be good for someone who is searching for a book about internal healing and a deep dive into self. Thank you #NetGalley for this ARC :)

After weeks of trying to download this book it finally worked and I was able to finish it!

This was not at all what I was expecting, but in a great way! I will be the first to say I know nothing about Julianne Hough - like, at all. I have no idea what her role is in pop culture, so when I dove in to this book I had zero real expectations except for what I could glean from the cover.

I really enjoyed the story! I love the energy healing, and the reading of people's energy, as woven in to her life. I believe in energy being the driving force for essentially everything, so this really resonated with me.

My only criticism would be that I really, really dislike the transitional music between chapters, and I could hear swallowing at times during the narration.

Everything We Never Knew was not what I expected. It centers around Lexi Cole who has an awakening - suddenly she’s aware of other’s energy, feelings and memories. As she searches to better understand the unseen energy of the world around us, she deals with her own inner demons until she finally finds peace. Fans of alternative medicine will likely enjoy this but I wasn’t expecting that topic to center at the novel so I found it very difficult to get through. Julianne Hough gives an excellent performance in the audiobook which I would recommend if the topic was of interest to the reader.

Lexi Cole stands on the precipice of change during an awards banquet. As she accepts her top-seller award (again) at the realty firm, she starts feeling strange. A man nearby, she doesn’t recognise, triggers an inexplicable sensation of drowning. Later, Lexi discovers that this man, now deceased due to an overdose, was involved in a traumatic boating accident that shattered his family.
Lexi’s life takes an unexpected turn when she realizes her newfound ability: she can feel others’ emotions and glimpse their private memories. To protect her loved ones, she must confront her own buried past. The novel delves deep into Lexi’s inner struggles, her journey of self-discovery, and the delicate balance between her gift and its emotional toll.
While the initial chapters engage us with Lexi’s encounters with strangers, the heart of the narrative lies in her internal conflicts. Some readers may yearn for more interactions with the people whose emotions she senses. Overall, Everything We Never Knew invites us to explore power, transformation, and the intricate threads that bind us all.

This book started out really strong. I think the premise of the book was really intriguing, with her “feeling” something was coming with just looking at someone. But it Definitely went down hill after the first major plot.

The new age-y theme to this book was really hard for me to wrap my head around & I feel like it was just thrown in. Especially when this book really dealt with some strong and hard themes. (Miscarriage, suicide). And I personally felt the writing was all over the place.

Few things I enjoyed: I loved the cover, it was stunning. And I think that Julianne did a great job narrating the book.

I did not enjoy this. Overall it was clunky and too long and the execution of the story left something to be desired. I found the main character to be annoying in the way that someone doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is annoying. This felt like a hallmark movie in a bad way. This is a perfect example of how telling and not showing makes for a poor execution in books, and why I think celebrities should not be allowed to write anything besides memoirs, lol. Also, the ending was very abrupt and I felt not resolved well.

Thank you to RBMedia and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review

This is an emotional and gripping novel that delves into energies, psychic abilities, and human spirits. Lexi Cole, our protagonist, unexpectedly discovers her newfound power to feel other people’s emotions and glimpse their private memories. The story is well-written, but it starts a bit slow. While the spiritual elements are intriguing, the pacing issue aside, the book falls short of its potential.

I actually took a whole day just to think before I rated this book. Listening to it, I honestly was so drawn and touched by the story. I’m not going to lie….my own life and personality parallel Lexi’s. So that may be what made me feel so connected to the story.
I was cheering for her the whole time to overcome all of the obstacles holding her back. This book may not be for everyone. I read all the bad reviews but I went into expecting absolutely nothing, and walked out of it extremely happy with the whole book.
I received an ALC of this title, all opinions are my own.
