Entertaining Historical Romance

When Nick realizes that Pippa is having trouble with her vision, he helps her to get glasses. Little does he know that she will change his life. She is a noblewoman, and he is of the gentry. Society decrees that they cannot marry. There will be a villain that will stand in the way of her and nick’s happiness. Then, there is her father who should support her but keeps calling her clumsy. Blind does not mean clumsy, and using that word shakes Pippa’s self-confidence. Pippa has suffered the putdowns from her father and evil stepmother for years. Blindness would have been much more difficult to manage in Regency and Victorian days, but the putdowns are a much bigger obstacle than Pippa’s farsightedness.

This is an entertaining story about two people with obstacles to overcome. Loving Pippa can end Nick’s career. Will he choose Pippa or his practice? The choice will not be easy. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like steamy, historical romance about two people from different social classes. There is some suspense, too.

Nick Folsum is an oculist at 87 Harley Street, Lady Philippa is a "clumsy goose." There meet-cute is adorable, but I'd really call it a "sweet-cute" because they both end of covered in icing and sugar. This series starter begins with an over abundance of details that almost made me give up a few times. Somewhat repetitive and at times long-winded, but I know Adrian's writing style so I stuck with it, Worth it! Adrian brings everything together for multiple story lines and brings you to that happily ever after you need when reading a historical romance novel. Several twists and unexpected turns, she's a master at pulling everything together.

A Sight to Behold by Sarah Adrien is another in her Harley Street series all about medical professionals in 1820, when the field was still new. Many didn’t trust doctors as their only experience had been on the battlefield, where things were always bad. Others believed in, what we would not call, charlatans, who practiced a variety of rituals designed to perform miracle. Some believed in what they did. Others did not. So when it came to actually seeing a doctor, there was often resistance. Also, young women on the marriage mart had to be perfect so spectacles or fillings in the teeth belied that perfection and were frowned upon by society. Nick’s specialty was the eyes and eye surgery. He could also practiced general medicine in a pinch. His sister worked as a nurse and ground the glass for glasses. Pippa met Nick at the local bakery where they were both buying treats.

Pippa’s father didn’t believe in modern medicine. He and his fourth wife wanted to get Pippa married off so they were united in believing she was clumsy, until Nick discovered she couldn’t see well. She managed to keep her precious new glasses hidden for a few days, but then she was discovered. Her father grabbed them from her and destroyed them. It got complicating and secrets were revealed. It was a very challenging situation and well-written as well. It’s an odd topic for a Regency romance: medicine but alluring at the same time. Pippa was curious and Nick was a willing teacher. He knew she was above him in station and that, also, was very well-written. The characters were good and the plot showed that in many ways life was not so different then. I enjoyed reading this delightful novel.

I was invited to read A Sight to Behold by Dragonblade. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #SaraAdrien #ASightToBehold

A fresh twist on romance, featuring Nick, an eye doctor, and Pippa, a clumsy member of high society. The story mixes humor, danger, and steamy moments, making it an enjoyable read. The imperfect characters and their search for happiness add depth, and it sets the stage for a promising series.

This is the first book in a new historical romance series. Our hero is a humble doctor, who specialises in the eyes. He and his partners are a perfect team. Between them they can treat most ailments. But when catering to the highest in society, one mishap could cost them everything.
Our heroine is the daughter of a Duke and incredibly wealthy. That however doesn't stop people from insulting and belittling her, even her own father.
We learn a lot from our characters in this steamy story. There is also humour and a little danger. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
Great fun.

Heartwarming Forbidden Love Story

I was looking forward to the book because I already knew the practice on Harley Street and some of the characters from the Lyon's Den series and was keen to find out more about them. As I have suffered from cataract since birth, I also found it fascinating that it could already be treated at the beginning of the 19th century.

The plot itself is very well written. You can tell that the author has done a lot of research. It is a touching class disparity, forbidden love story with likable main and supporting characters, some unexpected twists, romance, danger, suspense and a few passionate love scenes.
The author certainly takes issue with the superficial society of the time, which tended towards perfectionism and preferred to endure pain and discomfort rather than face up to its judgmental peers with flaws.

What I didn't like so much was Pippa's initial selfish actions without thinking about the consequences for Nick.

Nicholas „Nick“ Folsham is oculist and partner in the newly founded practice on Harley Street. He excels at his job but is rather awkward when it comes to interacting with people, especially women, outside the practice.

Lady Philippa "Pippa" is the wealthy daughter of a duke. Because of her clumsiness, she does not like social events and is ridiculed by her peers and her own father who becomes more and more ashamed of her. Until Pippa meets Nick by chance and he diagnoses farsightedness as the reason for her clumsiness.

The two are immediately attracted to each other and Nick helps Pippa overcome her poor eyesight, but he knows that their attachment can't go any further. Nick comes from a common background and Pippa is rich and noble. A relationship between them would be too scandalous and not only endanger his existence, but also ruin the lives of his sister, friends and partners...

If you like class disparity romance novels with a working class hero, a noble heroine, a touch of suspense and a guaranteed happy ending, you will certainly enjoy this book!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A Sight to Behold is the first book in the Miracles on Harley Street.

Lady Philippa “Pippa” Pemberton has lived for the most part a solitary life ever since her mother died. Pippa is wealthy beyond anyone's wildest dreams but does not have control of her inheritance. She is often belittled for being clumsy and earning her the horrible nickname of 'clumsy goose' which for most people would be endearing but becomes a yoke around her neck and how she sees herself.

Dr. Nick Folsham's specialty is eyes and it renowned for his successes in eye surgery. Nick sees the most beautiful woman in a pastry shop as she stumbles into his arms. He is instantly enamored with Pippa. Spending time with her Nick realizes that she is farsighted and needs glasses which would enable her to see better and stop her from being 'clumsy.' But glasses are forbidden by the 'ton' for focusing on a person's deficiencies. Nick's friend Lance is returning from being sent away because he was blind. Lance is Nick's biggest regret for being unable to help him.

Pippa decides to take a chance to see if this will help her. But someone near to her has been playing the long goal to get their hands on Pippa's fortune. Pippa will have to take a chance on Nick for help to save her father and herself from the danger that is close at hand.

This is a wonderful story. I loved the writing, easy to understand and follow along. The characters are wonderful and easy to like. This story has controversy, danger and steamy love scenes which are well paced throughout the story. I especially enjoy when the main characters are not perfect according to society and virtually shunned or ridiculed for not measuring up. Can't wait for the next in the series.

I absolutely love this author, her writing skills, creativity and imagination. But most of all, I love that her stories are never the out of the box type. Instead, they are brave, insightful, risk taking, and incredibly unique. This first book of the series is just such an example of those traits. Nick is a doctor, an eye doctor so when have you read a historical romance about a doctor who specializes before. Then there is Pippa, nobility with a tendency to be clumsy. Again, most stories are about the perfect lady, yet she isn't it. Yes, there is steam add humor, a touch of danger, a pinch of human cruelty and you have a story that you won't want to put down and one you will read over and over again. A masterpiece of inspiration and love.

This may be the first book I've read with an oculist at the center of a historical romance. There were plenty of elements I enjoyed as well as many others that I did not. Medical romance is an often underutilized subgenre and I try to snatch them up whenever I see them in the catalog. It was also a period piece, which is another buzzword of mine. A Sight to Behold was a unique courtship between an eye doctor and a far-sighted beauty. They were a match made in corneas. I liked the quirky fresh story, but there were a few parts that had me rolling my eyes that Dr. Folsham would be impressed by my sclera velocity.

I know our couple was on the younger side, but they acted like lovesick teenagers. They couldn't keep their hands off each other and pledged their love to one another very early. I swear the hero was bricked up nearly the entire novel, even during an eye exam fitting the heroine for glasses. Sir, this is a place of business! I also thought it was super gross he kept a dog in the same room he practiced medicine. I know I hate dogs, but that just seemed off on so many levels. These two lovebirds were a lil' wacky and eventually got their happy ending after a ruined cake, overturned teapot, and a broken pair of spectacles.

A Sight to Behold gave off big Wackadoodle energy, but it was full of heart. I'm looking forward to the sequel featuring Bea and the pharmacist. I adore medical romances and wish they were more popular. This was a sweet start to the series and I'm still curious enough to continue reading the collection. While I certainly didn't fall in love with the short king oculist who fitted me for my own glasses, this was certainly A Sight to Behold.

A delightfully different tale of a woman ,Pippa, who lived in a solitary world, being made fun of for her “clumsiness”. Literally falling into Nick’s arms they find in each other, what they were missing from their lives. Though this story seemed to be longer than it needed to be and at times too much descriptive text of rooms, etc, ,this really was an entertaining read. Fighting the villain was at times, very funny, and also frightening. Even poor Truffles got caught in the battle! The twists and turns keep the reader very engaged and the characters are truly so lovable. Seeing a “mean”girl show maturity was so entertaining. The interesting part was seeing how the Ton dealt with “fixing “ health problems. I never knew that and was astonished to say the least. Some of the information on eye issues was interesting as well. Really enjoyed it.

I received this story for free and these are my own opinions
