This little book offers teens (and anyone else dealing with grief, really) a relatable volume full of helpful stories and suggestions on how to handle grief. Don't let the short length fool you; what it might not have in page length, this book has in heart. While some of the entries may sound a touch corny, it's precisely at those difficult times in life where the corniness is apropos. Korie Leigh has clearly spent a great deal of time researching and composing a helpful collection that anyone will benefit from reading.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has teenagers in their life dealing or struggling with grief.

If you have a teen grieving a loss, It Won’t Ever Be the Same: A Teen’s Guide to Grief and Grieving by Korie Leigh, Ph.D. will be an important and helpful resource.

Everything about It Won’t Ever Be the Same is intentional. From the calming colors, to the artwork, to the quotes from other teens sharing about their grief and loss, to the science of how our brain reacts, to the connection between body, spirit and mind as we grieve, to the exercises and activities to help your teen along their grief journey, and more, every aspect of this book is well thought out. Leigh talks about what grief is, how we feel it, and provides tips and insights into rebuilding your world and living after a loss. There are also moments in the book for the reader to reflect.

One of my favorite parts of It Won’t Ever Be the Same is the acknowledgment that grief isn’t only felt when someone dies. Big family changes or life-altering events can also cause grief.

As a mother, and as someone who experienced a significant loss in my early teens, I also see the value in having this book provided to peers and those supporting their grieving loved one. The impact grief and loss has on young people cannot be highlighted often enough. Sitting on the board for a nonprofit providing support to grieving children, teens, and their families, I’ve been blessed to see the profound impact of such services. It Won’t Ever Be the Same can also be a helpful resource.

Highly recommended!

While grief is often associated with the loss of a loved one, it can also arise from various life situations, especially for teenagers. This book was very powerful and compelling! As someone who lost a loved one as a young adult, I would have loved to have a book like this to help me through my grief journey. While grief counseling and therapy were helpful, they didn't center on the unique perspective of teens. This book was exactly what I needed to heal. I hope every grieving teen has the opportunity to read this book and work to heal themselves throughout these pages.
