This book was so fun and amazing! The first thing I will say about this book is that this story will undoubtedly fill readers will wonder and joy. The happiness from the dinosaurs and Jake's adventurous spirit are infectious, and have a big impact on the reader and their mood. This is due to two main elements of this book:
1. The idea and writing style. The idea is clear and makes a lot of sense, both "logistically" (for lack of a better word) and plot-wise (defined beginning, middle, end). As for the writing style, it's filled with loads of emotion and is highly descriptive. This allows emotion, setting, tone, etc. to be conveyed to the reader, and definitely allows them to be immersed in this book and its world.
2. The illustrations!!! The illustrator shows off their impressive talent through this book, and it is spectacular! Human characters were realistic yet still fun and in a cartoon(ish) style. The dinosaurs were beautiful and, at the same time, scientifically accurate. This is very important for kids to see (especially ones that adore dinosaurs), and it will make them very happy.
Bravo!
This is a fun book about a boy who was supposed to have a Birthday Dinosaur Sleepover with his best friends. Unfortunately his 3 friends got sick and couldn't come to his party. He sadly went to bed that night. However when he heard noise in the living room it was 3 dinosaurs there for the party. They end up taking him out to visit his friends and find some more dinosaur friends. He ended up having a great night with the Dinosaurs and camped out in the yard with them. I loved the finally picture so funny and endearing.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this fantastic arc.
Beautifully illustrated and fun story about a boy and his birthday wishes. Friendly dinosaurs and a lesson about making new friends.
This was such a fun book to read. The story was inclusive and fun. The pictures were exciting and detailed. I read it with my son and we couldn’t wait to turn each page to see what happened next!
This was such a fun book! My daughters loved how the Dinos showed up to cheer up the poor boy whose birthday party was canceled. The book shows inclusion by including a party crasher who is just misunderstood and who really just wants to join in the fun. The fun twist at the end that it wasn’t a dream shocked my girls.
Silly and fun! What kid wouldn't like to have a dinosaur sleepover? I like the twist ending this story had.
A quick little read about a boy who has his birthday ruined when his best friends come down with the flu on the day of his sleepover. He goes to bed sad but wakes
To find dinosaurs in his home ready to celebrate!
This is a nice little book about dealing with disappointments that kids have to face over friends not making parties.
I received a ARC of this title, all opinions are my own.
This was a very cute title that had my clerk and I completely enraptured. I especially loved the sneak peeks at the T-Rex friend. The art was well done & perfectly fit the narrative.
Very cute dinosaur book with gorgeous illustrations. I don’t know how were done, but they looked very life like. I loved how well the shocked faces on the people was done.
We loved this book, ‘The Great Dinosaur Sleepover’ by Linda Bailey! What a fun and entertaining story about a Dino sleepover birthday party. My kiddos loved listening to this story and engaging with the beautiful illustrations on each page.

This is a big claim, but I think this might be my new favorite dinosaur book-- and we've read them all! What a perfect birthday book, with the reality of things sometimes not going the way you've hoped. Such a fun dinosaur adventure!
This book was everything! A little sad to start but Linda packed a Jurassic sized punch with this story. Imaginative, funny, the right amount of silly filled with pages of wonder to make your dinosaur lovers reading experience great. The artwork was stunning and overall this book is a win!
This book is so cute! It got great illustrations and a sweet story line. It’s so disappointing when your plans don’t work out and this child’s birthday sleepover was nearing failure. Thankfully dinosaurs came to the rescue.
The Great Dinosaur Sleepover is SO CUTE! It is a picture book about a young boy who has to postpone his birthday party. He goes to bed disappointed only to find that dinosaurs have appeared to have a sleepover in the middle of the night. The illustrations are adorable, and I really loved the plotline. I think this would be an absolute favorite with the dino crowd!
Thanks to NetGalley, Linda Bailey, and Penguin Random House for the chance to read and review! My opinions are my own.
The Great Dinosaur Sleepover is definitely a must read. Jake the main character plans the most perfect dinosaur sleepover and invites his three best friends but on the day of the party, all three friends get sick. He went to bed sad, but woke up to the most STUPENDOUS surprise! Dinosaurs showed up for the sleepover! They play games and go on adventures and another dinosaur surprises them. You have to read it to experience it yourself.
This book was absolutely adorable. My son loved it. He is two and loves dinosaurs. His favorite was the T. rex. Sometimes the dinosaur drawings can be a little scary, but these were drawn so friendly looking. The illustrations were gorgeous. And as a parent, I personally be storybooks that introduce new and bigger words. Will definitely be purchasing this book for our collection.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Canada for the ARC of this adorable book!!

But he wakes up to dinosaurs in his house and has fun adventures with them. This was an imaginative, fun book with great illustrations.
