The Player’s Club was a decent debut novel. It had a lot of potential to be something rare in the hockey romance genre but felt too identical to 50 Shades of Grey. The narrators did a fantastic job narrating the story. I look forward to seeing how Fallon Greer develops as a writer.

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for providing me with an ALC for this novel. I love a good sports romance and add in a touch of BDSM? I was like “SIGN ME UP!” However, I was just disappointed. By 50% in, it just felt like a copy and paste of the 50 shades of grey books but condensed into one novel. I did finish, but the similarities kept stacking up, and honestly those books were not great. BUT, the spice was spicy!!
I had fun reading this. It gave me Fifty Shades vibes but done a bit better. The FMC frustrated me a lot. She gave me a lot of pick me vibes. I also was very confused as to how her job wasn’t a bigger part of the story. At some points it felt like she didn’t even have a job.
Ok, I absolutely loved the narrators, so I’m giving this two stars. But this is basically 50 Shades of Grey with hockey thrown in. Way too many plot points are identical and I’m a little surprised the editors didn’t suggest some changes because of that.
3.5 stars (rounded up).
"The Player's Club" is a terrific debut for author Fallon Greer! I found myself comparing it to "Fifty Shades of Grey" because of the BD$M angle, which isn't a critique of its quality so much as a comment on its subject matter. It doesn't go quite as far as "Fifty" went in terms of, well, *you know,* but has all of the hallmarks of being similar enough to draw comparisons. I personally liked this book better despite it not going all that far in terms of content. It is also a hockey romance, though the book is not inundated with the sport. I was drawn to the characters, Elodie and Mac, separately and together. It's spicy in all the right places while maintaining an underlying heart throughout. Lots of secrets, dark desires, and exploration here. Real good stuff. The writing could have been a little tighter here and there, but I did enjoy this book! I can't wait to see what Fallon Greer writes next! Finally, this book's narrators, Stephen Dexter and Andi Arndt, are absolutely top-notch and were immaculate choices for this project. They give tremendous audio performances and narrate these characters perfectly. This is one of the better audiobooks I have read recently. Their performances are just stellar.
Thank you to NetGalley, Fallon Greer, and Dreamscape Select for the complimentary ALC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.
This didn't hold my attention. I'm a mood reader and immediately jumping into the FMC having a bf and the MMC being a voyeur just didn't jive well with me. The first few chapters of narration were great, but I DNFd the book.
4 Stars I've never read/listened to a hockey romance quite like this! This is a fast paced and engaging story, and the narration definitely adds depth to the characters. If you like the Salacious Player's Club series, you'll like this one!
This was my first and won't be my last Fallon Greer book! I loved the narration in this book. I thought that it gave great depth and life to the storyline. It was fun, engaging, steamy, and true sport romance goodness! I absolutely loved their dynamic. The Player's Club is a sports romance with mild BDSM elements. Mac and Elodie's story is fast-paced but so engaging. I loved this different take on hockey romance that I think fans will enjoy to delve a bit spicer into the hockey world. overall, a great debut and can't wait for what she has in store next!
Congratulations to Fallon Greer on their debut!
The Player's Club is a BDSM/sex club meets hockey romance. I really wanted to like this one, and the story and writing wasn't bad, but the story line played out FAR too similar to 50 Shades of Grey meets the Salacious Players Club series. I predicted half of the plot points, because they were the same as 50 Shades if Christian Grey were a hockey player.
I found the characters had interesting back stories, but I would have liked a little more relationship development and an emotional connection between them. Their chemistry worked, but there didn't seem to be much of a connection beyond the physical.
I'm a huge Andi Arndt fan! She is one of my favourite narrators and gave a great performance. Stephen Dexter also gave a great performance.
Thank you to Fallon Greer, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC.
Thank you Netgalley and dreamscape select for the free ALC. My opinions are being left voluntarily. This was a most unique romance books.its as though someone took hockey, sex club, and Weaved it to form a book this has do many tropes and parts Wil appeal to different readers. The audio was great but the story felt disjointed.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape for this advanced copy of The Players Club by Fallon Greer.
I need to start out with while I think this story had a lot of potential for a debut read, I think it also needs to be pointed out there’s a subplot in here that is not given the proper depth it needs to be handled correctly. The act between Caroline and Mac was assault of a minor and only Elodie seemed to notice.
I’m also very sick of the trope that people who join BDSM have experienced childhood trauma.
The whole incident where Mac punishes Elodie for his own feelings about Caroline is also a scene that gives the impression people use BDSM as abuse.
I think the author should have done an editing process with members from the BDSM community. It comes across as fanfiction as is.

Its 50 shades but he's a hockey player basically. Not bad but far from original (not that romances are almost ever original but this almost felt too much like 50 shades). Also, surprised how tame the sex between the MCs was despite the contract and the buildup. With the exception of some whipping, it was pretty normal. Despite all this, the writing was good and kept me interested. I would definitely read this author again.
For the audiobook, I really liked the narrators a lot. I've heard the male narrator before so I knew I'd like him but I think this was my first with the female and she was great. Narrators can really make or break an audiobook for me so I was happy with these.
Thank you to NetGalley and DreamScape Media for this ALC!

This is a slow-burn story filled with good tension. Elody takes her sweet time deciding whether she will pursue her desires with Cole by exploring BDSM. She can't reveal her true identity or the purpose of her assignment due to a hidden agenda. It was a bit devious of her. I wish she were more honest with Cole, who already had trust issues.
♡︎ From the beginning, Mac is taken with Elody but struggles to handle his personal demons that affect his relationship with her, leading to an emotional roller coaster ride for both of them, turning this into an interesting story.
♥︎ This audiobook featured dual narration by Andie Arndt and Stephen Dexter, two of my favorite voice actors. Their seamless transitions and ability to portray various characters made it easy to distinguish between them. They skillfully captured the emotions of the story and maintained perfect pacing.
♡︎ Overall, if you enjoy steamy sports romance accompanied by fantastic narration, you won't be able to resist this audiobook.

OMG and holy smooke! This was a funny and sexy,
Hockey-romance taking to a new level of spice. The chemistry between the characters was interesting and the story was some what different in a good way! Defently for grown up's, but defently recommendable!
Go read it, I dare ya!
This was a very spicy hockey romance . Mc deals with child hood trauma and touch’s on a subject that should be spoken on more loved the twist and bdsm that was in the book the cover doesn’t give anything away o what this book is really about great surprise.
unfortunately this book is not for me. i have been struggling the last few days to get through it and im throwing in the towel. this truly felt like a 50 shades fan fic
Elodie, a reporter, is sent to find dirt on Mac, a controversial Hockey player. She ends up in a relationship with Mac while keeping the truth from him and her employer.
I liked this book. It has entertainment value. For me though, it won't stick with me. The character building was not as developed as I usually like.
Many thanks to Net Galley and Dreamscape Select for an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
As far as a debut spicy novel goes, this one is pretty good! If you are looking for a straight up hockey romance, this isn't the one as there is barely any hockey in this book. I read a handful of other reviews on this book saying that it is similar to 50 Shades of Grey but since I'm seemingly the only person who has never read the Shades series, I cannot confirm nor deny. I did enjoy the story and think the author did a good job of handling Mac's issues with care. I did not like that Elodie neglected to tell Mac what she actually did for a living and I think the drama involved would have been resolved much sooner had she just been up-front with him. I felt as though some parts of the book were more tell than show but overall the story was done well and the spicy scenes were steamy.
So I guess, 50 Shades of Grey meets hockey romance is the vibe here and it works! Also, the book cover is gorgeous
Stephen Dexter and Andi Arndt do a wonderful job of narrating this one and I feel they brought the characters to life.

First of all, do not go in thinking this is a hockey romance despite GoodReads listing the genre as a sports romance and the hockey cover. There was ONE hockey scene in this book. Otherwise, the main male character (Cole "Mac" Mackenzie) just happened to be someone who plays hockey. The rest of the book was focused on his relationship with the main female character (Elodie Andrews) and their BDSM relationship.
Second, this book was similar to 50 Shades of Grey (but written better, in my opinion). You have a wealthy mmc who pursues a relationship with a reporter who happens to know nothing about BDSM. They go through signing the contract and figuring out what is allowed versus not allowed. The mmc had a relationship with an older woman who taught him about BDSM and even groomed him before he was of age. This older woman also happened to have some sort of chokehold on him. So yeah, lots of similarities!
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It had good plot and was just spicy enough. I think the author could have gone into more spicy stuff at the actual club, The Scarlet Rope. Nonetheless, I can't wait to read the next book in this series!
Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select, and Fallon Greer for the opportunity to listen to an Advanced Listener's Copy (ALC) in exchange for my honest opinion/review.

Synopsis:
What began as a routine assignment to spy on hockey star Cole “Mac” Mackenzie turned into an unexpected journey when Elodie discovered Mac using a decoy to slip away unnoticed. Following him to a secretive private club, Elodie found herself drawn into Mac’s mysterious world and an intense personal connection that made her rethink her priorities. As she became more entangled with Mac and his cryptic life, Elodie's own hidden secrets threatened to unravel, risking everything she had come to cherish.
Thoughts:
I enjoyed this book and found it to be a promising debut novel. While the chemistry between Elodie and Mac was engaging, it felt somewhat surface-level, especially given the trust required as Elodie delved into BDSM. I also wished for a deeper exploration of the club, which played a significant role in their story. On the plus side, the narrators did an amazing job, adding to the book's appeal. If you're looking for a gentler introduction to BDSM, this book is for you.
