When I saw that this was a hockey romance with a sex club mixed in I could not jump into it quick enough.
Elodie is a reporter for a tabloid magazine who is assigned to track Cole “Mac” Mackenzie hockey player for the Los Angeles Blades. She tracks him to a non-descript building and when she sneaks inside she is surprised to find a sex club. When she Mac saves her from a handsy patron they instantly hit it off. Elodie must figure out how to navigate this new world and keep it separate from her job.
From the instant Mac sees Elodie he can think of nothing more. His only fear is that she will not accept his sexual appetites.
This audio book was narrated by Stephen Dexter and Andi Arndt. The pace was good and I was able to differentiate each character. Mr. Dexter is my new favorite narrator. He could read the phone book and I would listen. Such a great voice for this character.
I thought this book was ok and my issues may just be personal preferences so if these things do not bother you, then this could be your next favorite book.
Where was the hockey????? I do not even recall if we were told what position Mac played. This is being advertised as a hockey book with little to no hockey at all. This is a huge frustration for me. The main reason I picked this one up was for the hockey aspect, so I was disappointed when you could have easily switched his profession for anything and it would not have changed the story.
There were several threads that read 50 shades of gray to me. The NDA, being groomed by an older friend of the family, the MFC being horrified by the whole relationship, and the MMC not understanding why. I know that these could be considered tropes but it was so similar.
I was not a fan of Elodie. I thought she had ample opportunity to tell Mac what she did for a living after she signed the NDA. Not to mention that she had a boyfriend for a big portion of the book and even though she did not physically cheat, she was definitely in an emotional relationship with Mac. I felt really bad for Todd, he seemed like a pretty nice guy.
I thought the book could have been longer. Mac could have eased Elodie into the life a little more. It did not really feel like he was teaching her anything other than a safe word. I also felt like the ending was abrupt and would have like more.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for this audiobook. This is my very honest review.
I absolutely loved this. Mac and Elody are so cute together. I really liked that this wasn’t really a hockey romance. The BDSM aspect was very interesting. There were times when I found myself thinking of FSOG. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the family plot but overall I know it added to the story and gave the story some depth. Overall it was a great read.

This was an audio arc .
Honestly, it reminded me a lot of Fifty Shades of Grey, the same trauma that an older woman was teaching him the Bdsm lifestyle while he was a minor and he didn’t realize that she was manipulating him, It’s the same like 50 shades. there’s also a contract involved and the no strings attached relationship. The female main character here is a reporter and she is sent on an assignment to gather Intel and gossip about the MMC. She ends up, sneaking into a club that he enters and finds out it is a s3x club. MMC offers her a contract relationship. She ends up falling in love with him. He finds out there is a third act breakup, which I do not like those. I really did like the hockey aspect of this book. I think that’s what dream in a lot more secrets, hiding mixed with her family drama was really entertaining. I didn’t like that the female main character was in a relationship when she started having these thoughts about the MMC.
This was an audio arc so I would like to talk about the narrators as well. I would give the narrators performance five stars for both. I really liked that they were able to convey the opposite sex voice when it was their POV. I also loved their voices in general. I would definitely read more books by both of the narrators.
Fifty shades of grey-esque. Elodie Andrews is a reporter assigned to find dirt on Mac. She follows him to an secret club, a BDSM club. Wanting to play along she enters into an agreement to be his submissive. I wouldn't categorized this necessarily as a hockey romance because Mac could have had any profession with public status. Spicy AF 5/5.
Audio review, liked the voices and they were very good for each character.
Now book , a bit on the strong side for me , but still enjoyable. The whole lying part for me wasn’t great and also that she stared feeling more interested towards max while having a boyfriend even that she didn’t cheat. Still for a debut novel was well done.

Thank you NetGalley, Fallon Greer, and Dreamscape Select for access to this ALC in exchange for a fair review!
I think I quite literally requested this ALC after seeing Stephen Dexter was a narrator because I love his voice and Andi Arndt is also one of my favorite female narrators so I went into this without looking at the description and assuming it was just a hockey romance 😅. Boy was I wrong but it was fun! I love a BDSM romance novel I just felt like this ones scenes were a little lacking.
They kept mentioning how Elodie is a newbie to BDSM and to go slow and I felt like there wasn’t ever any real BDSM education for Elodie aside from like you can use the safe word at any time and they kind of jumped right in and that felt kind of fast to me. Especially with the flogging and not having a stoplight system explained or counting them or checking in I don’t knowwwwww it was a little fast and uncomfy to me. The edging scene also felt kind of sped through and not super described. I also felt like there was just instalust between them and then they signed a contract it was just so fast and easy it kind of left a bit to be desired. They fell in love so fast. Some of the scenes were hot and I liked that we got a lot of backstory for Mac but it was also pretty dark. I also felt icky about the lengths Elodie was going to to get a story and being fine about breaking an NDA, etc. she redeemed herself in the end but I still felt a little yucky about her character for the first half of the book.
Overall I had a good time but it just left a few things to be desired. I am looking forward to Brady’s book with the coach’s daughter! Sounds fun.
I liked this book, but it lacked character depth for me. I appreciated how the characters were able to grow in the end but something just felt incomplete. I really did enjoy the narrator’s voices in this book and overall I thought the story was good!
For a debut novel, this was a very good start. It has some solid romance plot traits and it keeps you engaged.
The fast burn didn't really work for me. It felt surface-level and I couldn't really immerse myself in Elodie and Mac's chemistry.
If you're looking for a steamy romance with BDSM elements, then this is the book for you.
The narrators were very good and played their parts exactly how they should.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review!
Andi Arndt? Automatic YES!!!
Five Spicy Stars
It was supposed to be a simple assignment: stake out the golden boy hockey player Cole “Mac” Mackenzie as he exited the arena after a Los Angeles Blades game.
You see where we are going here? Well that's not all! She followed him to a *private* club and she even followed him inside! When they meet and start talking, will she tell him why she is there? When they start seeing each other outside the club, will she tell him why she was there?
This one was SOOOOOO good. It was super light on hockey, like he is a hockey player but there isn't much game in the book. There ARE a lot of spicy scenes. I enjoyed the BDSM part of the storyline and the fact that it was said how important aftercare was, I just wish it was more emphasized or robust after each session. That's my only complaint.
I definitely recommend this one. Especially because Andi Arndt is effing amazing!!!
I will absolutely have my eye out for Brady's story!
Okay, if you’re looking for a sports romance with ultra spice, The Player’s Club has all the kinks! 🌶️🌶️🌶️
A hockey player into BDSM - it’s like 50 shades but so much hotter. Mac and Elodie are perfect together.
I can’t say enough good things about these narrators either. Andi Ardnt is superb and Stephen Drexter will have you panting for more…. 🫦
Very much looking forward to hearing all about Brady’s story in the next book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for this advanced audio in return for my honest review.

This book is a good mixture between a hockey romance and 50 shades of gray. I enjoyed the narration, it was very engaging!
The story follows Elody who is a reporter and is assigned to follow a famous hockey player. Soon she gets intrigued by his life choices and declines there being an actual story.
I had trouble initially connecting to the characters, but as the book progressed that got easier. There is A LOT OF SPICE in the book, which is good 🤣 It was a good debut romance and had a different plot that set it apart from other hockey romances.
Tropes:
- sports romance
- bdsm
- all the spice
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to listen to the ALC of this story!
The spice was there and very spicy. It was better done than a good share of romance books. I didn't really feel the romance outside of it though. The relationship just felt toxic in a not sexy way to me outside of the spice and in a few spice scenes as well.
WHAT a standout debut!! I absolutely devoured this dual POV, sports romance with BDSM content. It was heartfelt, SPICEY AF and VERY much my vibe. Fans of 50 shades of gray will appreciate the BDSM content, although this was much better written overall. I enjoyed this soooo much, especially as an audiobook narrated by Stephen Drexter and Andi Ardnt. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy!! I can't wait to read (or listen) to what this talented indie romance author writes next!!!!
It's a perfect mix of sports romance and Fifty Shades! And let me tell you, I couldn't get enough of it! The story revolves around a smart, witty writer-reporter, Elodie, who crosses paths with Mac, a brooding handsome hockey player. Their chemistry is undeniable, but what really drew me in was the exploration of their attraction, exploring trust, desire, and the boundaries they're both willing to push. The pacing was spot on, keeping tension high and the plot engaging throughout.
I devoured this audiobook in record time. Every chapter got me hooked, rooting for the main characters as they navigated their fiery attraction and the emotional rollercoaster that came with it. The narrators? Oh man, they deserve major props. Both narrators, Stephen Dexter and Andi Arndt, brought each character to life with authenticity and intensity. Every steamy scene and heartfelt moment felt incredibly real, drawing me further into their captivating world.
What I particularly loved was how the authors balanced the intense romance with a compelling storyline. It's not just about the steamy encounters (though they're definitely unforgettable!), but also about the characters' journeys and the evolution of their connection. If you're looking for a hockey romance audiobook that delivers on both heat and heart, this one is a must-listen!
The Player’s Club is a debut novel by Fallon Greer. It is book 1 in a new hockey romance series. It follows Elodie and Mac. Mac is a professional hockey player and Elodie is a reporter of a tabloid like magazine. Elodie’s assignment is to find dirt on Mac and write an expose revealing secrets about Mac. Elodie follows him and finds he is a member of a special (wink, wink) club. Elodie and Mac interact at the club and take their relationship outside the club.
I felt the relationship between these two was rushed and I didn’t feel their connection or chemistry. I did like that they took each other on little dates to get to know each other better. It was a different side to each of them and I found it heartwarming. I din’t like that she lies to Mac for a large portion of the book and that she had a boyfriend for a decent amount of the beginning of the book.
I wanted to listen to this audio because I love the narrators. Steven Dexter and Andi Arndt did a fabulous job with the narration of this book. Narration was a 5/5 stars.
If you enjoy a steamy sports romance with some emotional depth then this book is for you. I recommend the audiobook.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for the ALC of this audiobook. I voluntarily listened and gave an honest review.
So super steamy. I thought this story would be a sweet rom/com about a journalist and a hockey player. It was SO much hotter than that. I liked the storyline, the drama, and the character development. I can't wait to read Brady's story next.
This is amazing 🤩 a better version of 50 shades of grey with sports romance and celebrity x news reporter romance 🤌🤌 and the amount of spice is so much that literally left me giggling and laughing and even it was so hawttttt 💯💫🤌
This was amazing debut, i finished it in one sitting only.
