Wow, y'all! Every book in this series gets better and better. FYI, the first book was pretty great on its own.

From the thrill of the chase and the description of the Rocky Mountains to the depths of the relationships and the empathy for those in harms way, this book has it all.

If you love action-packed mystery thrillers, dogs, and wee bit of romance, you'll love Summit's Edge.

Happy Reading!

Summit's Edge the latest book by Sara Driscoll did not disappoint.
This book was exciting as K-9
handlers Meg Jennings and her dog Hawk along with partner Brian and his dog Lacey meet up with two FBI team members out of the Denver field office and Mountain Rescue Aspen to search for survivors of a plane that crashed in the Elk Mountain region of Aspen, CO on Pyramid Peak that was brought down by a hijacker.
The teams started their trek up the steep peaks to look for any survivors and the hijacker had me engrossed from beginning to end. The details of the hike and the excitement and drama that everyone went through to find survivors will keep you staying up late to read.

Summit edge is number nine in the FBI K9 series and it doesn’t disappoint. I couldn’t put this one down and finished in a few hours. The way the author described the mountains made you feel as if you were there and the twist and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. The details about church rescue really bring home the dangers these teams face. The characters are some of my favorites and I can’t wait to read more.

Summit’s Edge by Sara Driscoll starts off with the intensity of a Barron pharma plane being hijacked over the dangerous, icy terrain of the Colorado mountains.
After the quick prologue that drew me into the story, FBI K9 handler, Meg, her partner Brian, and their amazing dogs take center stage. Meg’s wedding is in two weeks, and she has a fear of heights, but doesn’t let either of those issues stop her from stepping up to the plate. The level of research and awareness had me glued to the pages.
This story raced with a complicated search. The author did a good job at using dialogue to help orient the reader to what the rescue crew was up against, but in some places, heavy dialogue slowed the action. Either way, I like when I learn something new in a story. Although I highly doubt I’ll ever be anywhere so cold there is a snow avalanche, I know now how to handle being buried alive by snow. The team put in a lot of effort to bring Brian back, and the author’s vivid description had me on edge, worried that he might suffocate under the ice!
I received this book through Net Galley and was not required to give a positive review.

Always love a great K-9 story, and the series continues to excel. Excellent plot with lots of action plus characters you like to like make this book a welcome addition.

I’ve read many of Sara Driscoll’s books, although Summits’ Edge is the first time I read a book in the K-9 series. I always thought that this series was “not for me” – I was wrong! I am planning to back now to read the earlier books in the series.

Meg and Brian, and their K-9 canine partners Hawk and Lacey, are sent to the mountains of Colorado near Aspen, on a search mission for a suspected plane hijacker, who caused a crash after killing a passenger. The amount of research that went into the book is easy to see, with the level of details that supports the story and makes it feel like we are there with them. Like Meg, I am not comfortable with heights, and her ability to work through her fear is impressive.

In addition to the story, I enjoyed meeting the characters and all the different ways they work as a team – Meg and her K-9 Hawk, human partners Meg and Brian, Brian and his K-9 Lacey, and also the K-9s Hawk and Lacey work together as a team.

I highly recommend this book! I enjoyed this story and would like to read others in series. Thank you , Net Galley, the publishers, and author Sara Driscoll for allowing me to read the advance copy of this book.

Perilous search for a hijacked plane in high mountains!

Treacherous weather conditions, a dangerous fleeing hijacker and deadly mountain terrain make this a high-octane search and rescue. Meg Jennings and her K-9 Hawk face extreme challenges to find a downed plane. The plane crashed in an area of Colorado with 13-14,000 ft peaks. Brian Foster and his dog Lacey are also deploying on the search. If the weather, the mountain, or altitude doesn’t get them the fleeing gunman may.

Time is of the essence and if there are survivors of the crash hypothermia is a threat. Meg’s wedding to Todd Webb is only 2 weeks away. Local FBI agents join Meg and Brian. Everyone on the team knows the urgency and danger of the search. Meg's friend investigative reporter Clay McCord provides insight into the hijacker’s motives.

This 9th entry in the FBI K-9 series has terrifyingly real descriptions of the hazards of mountain searches. Meg and Brian’s partners back home are increasingly concerned by the perilous search. Sara Driscoll contrasts the escalating dangers with the warmth of support from Meg’s family and friends back home. There is no let-up of the suspenseful tension. I was eagerly turning pages to the end. I devoured this addition to an excellent series! Recommended for readers who enjoy Margaret Mizushima, Paula Munier, Paul Doiron and C J Box.

Thanks to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for access to a digital ARC.

Good suspense with strong characters.
Meg is an FBI special handler, who with her FBI sanctioned canine companion, Hawk, is sent off to the Aspen area of Colorado to find a downed plane's possible survivors.
To complicate the search, there is an armed hijacker who apparently killed a passenger just before
the plane crashed into the mountains, on the loose.
Engrossing story with some education on search and rescue terms thrown in as well as the mystery surrounding the downed plane which carried the entire hierarchy of Barron Pharmaceutical's, currently under FBI investigation.
What I found dragging was the pages of descriptions on mountain search and rescue and the supplies that needed to be carried.
Meg and Brian were totally interesting characters as well as Lady and Hawk, their canine partners.

Summit's Edge is the 9th book in the FBI K-9 series.
Consultant Meg Jennings is a K-9 handler who works with the FBI.
Her and Hawk, a black Lab, and coworker Brian Foster along with Lacey, a German Shepherd are scent to an assignment in the mountains of Colorado just two weeks before Meg's wedding.
A private plane owned by a pharmasudical company is highjacked shortly after takeoff.
The flight attendant is able to get word to the Flight tower about the situation shortly before the plane crashes in the mountains around Aspen Colorado.

Pro's:
This was a good book with developed characters, a strong plot line and lots of action.
I also enjoyed the fact that while the situations and actions were fast paced and constant.
It was a clean read as far as language went.

Con's:
This is a highly technical book, that along with some referrences to previous books.
I would recommend reading the series in order.
I'd like to thank NetGalley and the author for allowing me to read this Advanced Reader's Copy.

Thanks to Netgally and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for honest review!
This was a very interesting, extremely detailed novel about searching for a suspected hijacker in the mountains of Colorado. I feel like I learned so much about mountain climbing and altitude sickness! As someone who has a fear of heights, the descriptions of the settings were so incredibly detailed that I felt as if I were right there with the team of searchers on the mountain. This is the only book I've read in this series and it definitely worked as a standalone.
I really enjoyed this book!

A possible hijack causes not only a shooting, but, a plane crash. This puts the investigation in Jen's department. The search dogs are not really meant for climbing, let alone in high altitudes of Colorado. Jen is afraid of heights, but she and Brian have to go up. Not only mountain climbing, a battle altitude sickness but repelling down from high heights with their search dogs strapped tho their backs. This is a nail biting, page turning action packed in a way only Ms. Driscoll can weave. The climbing and descending made my heart race. Literally action from the first chapter to the last. This is a book that is very much worth the read.

I was gripped by Book 9 in this riveting FBI K-9 series, set in the Colorado mountains after a plane goes down. Can easily be read as a standalone but will make you want to read Sara Driscoll's whole compelling series, especially if you love dogs and thrilling mountain tales.

An interesting book. I learned a lot about mountain climbing and dog handling. Characters are likeable. The plot is somewhat predictable.

Meg Jennings and Hawk, her canine partner from the DC FBI K-9 unit, are tasked with finding survivors, if any, of a plane hijacked over some Colorado mountains – peaks rising to 14,000 feet, just two weeks before her wedding. At times, the descriptions of climbing these peaks were just too intense! Action packed from the start, I could not wait to descend with Meg and Hawk from these mountains! Meg is definitely someone who I want to read more about!!! I received an ARC from NetGalley, and the opinions expressed are my own.

This is the 9th book in a series, but even without having read the previous books, it is easy to jump in and be immersed in the plot as it unfolds. The main character is a K9 handler with the FBI, Meg battles her internal fears while pursuing the hijacker of a plane that has gone down in the mountains. The author moves the plot forward with each chapter pulling my attention to the next while providing enough details of climbing to build the sense of danger while not being cumbersome. Great novel that is absolutely worth a read.

This is my second book in the series and I’m in love. Following Brian and Meg and their search and rescue dogs Lacey and Hawk is always an adventure. This book takes place on a mountain and I felt as if I was there with them. The author does an excellent job writing the vivid scenes that bring you into the story. She also does a wonderful job explaining the technical aspects of the story using characters explaining to other characters. I will definitely be reading the full series!!

Summit’s Edge is the ninth in Sara Driscoll’s FBI K-9 series. A plane carrying executives of pharmaceutical company is hijacked and crashes into the Colorado mountains. FBI agents, Meg with her k-9 Hawk and Brian with his k-9 Lucy, are assigned the case. Meg is two weeks away from her wedding to her fiancé, Todd. Meg’s fear of heights is yet another concern. Assisting Meg and Brian are two field agents and two mountain rescuers. Complicating the climb is the fact that it is night but the lives of any survivors means they can’t wait. Each chapter begins with defining a mountaineering term. High altitude sickness is a threat they face. The climb is treacherous for humans and dogs. The bond of trust, caring and love between handler and dog is amazing. Driscoll goes into very descriptive details of the terrain and the skill it takes to ascend it. Lots of interesting information. Meg and Brian are tested and pushed to their absolute limits. This story is filled with nonstop action and suspense. Also at the center of the story is the determination to do hard things and push through one’s own fears. I not only enjoyed this book but learned a lot about mountain climbing and k-9 rescue dogs and their handlers I would definitely recommend this exception book.

"Bring home the ones you can, concentrate on life."

No mission is too dangerous for Meg Jennings and her colleagues in the FBI K-9 unit, but this one was exceptionally harrowing as Meg, Brian, Hawk, and Lacey were tasked with locating the wreckage of a hijacked private plane high in the Elk Mountains of Colorado and rescuing any survivors.

The pacing in Summit's Edge was exceptional. For once I was positive I had a plot twist figured out ahead of time. Make that a big no! As I set the completed book down I felt cold and exhausted! Note to the author: Keep 'em coming!!

HUGE thanks to both #Kensington and #NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of Summit's Edge. This book is #9 in the FBI K-9 series and has an expected publication date of November 26, 2024.
