Sara Driscoll writes some of the best dog oriented mystery thrillers out there. Working with the search and rescue dogs is always front and center in her stories. And Summit’s Edge is no exception. The 9th in the series takes Meg and Hawk to the Colorado mountains to locate a crashed plane which was hijacked. They aren’t even in the air when the first threat arises - the potential for high altitude sickness for both humans and dogs. The story is thick with the risks of a mountain rescue - the incline, the scree, the temperatures. And that’s all before they even reach the plane or go on a hunt for the hijacker. The book moves at a steady pace with one complication after another. Driscoll writes in a detailed way so that the reader truly has a feel for everything going on. It’s a fabulously researched book.
The book can be read as a stand-alone.
My thanks to Netgalley and Kensington Books for an advance copy of this book.

Police Procedural Mystery in which a K-9 handler with the FBI's Human Scent Evidence Team works to rescue plane crash survivors and track down the fleeing hijacker behind the attack.

5/5 stars: This is the ninth entry in Driscoll's FBI K-9 series which is a Police Procedural Mystery that features a K-9 handler with the FBI's Human Scent Evidence Team in Washington DC as she and her teammates travel to Colorado to help with the search and rescue of any survivor's of a hijacked plane crash that's located high in the treacherous Elk Mountains. After finding the survivors, they learn the hijacker survived and has fled into the wilderness with one of the passenger's in pursuit. As the K-9 teams prepare to track both men, she taps into her friends and family connections to get more information on the suspect. Once they set out she, her K-9, her teammates and the other searchers must contend with the mountain’s savage fury, perilous weather and an adversary who will destroy as many lives as possible rather than face justice. With plenty of twists and turns, Driscoll writes a gripping fast-paced investigative tale that will leave you on the edge of your seat until the final reveal. I really like how Driscoll's plot unfolds and the deft way everything weaves together so effortlessly. Additionally, Driscoll's writing and character work is stellar; the characters are well-rounded and complex while remaining incredibly likable. It's great to catch back up with Meg, Hawk, her K-9 partner, Todd her firefighter/paramedic fiance, her sister Cara, a dog trainer, and her investigative reporter partner McCord and Meg's FBI team and their dogs. I also love seeing Meg and Todd get married. Driscoll touches on some sensitive topics; so take care and check the CWs. While you could read this as a stand-alone, you'll gain so much more by reading the series from the beginning; so be sure to pick up book one, Lone Wolf. This is a long-time favorite series; highly recommend!

Craig, the head of the K-9 teem in the Washington DC FBI calls in Meg and Brian. The executives and board of Barron Pharmacuticals is flying from Denver to California for an important meeting. Shortly after takeoff, one of the guards shoots the second guard. The man with the firearm took control of the plane, and it crashes in the mountains near Aspen. He is is sending them with their dogs to fly to Aspen to help track the hijacker. Craig didn't know that Meg was afraid of heights! They get to Aspen and soon begin climbing the mountain. There are several teams which each take a different path trying to find the crash site of the plane. First the tail of the plane is found, and finally the team Meg and Brian are on finds the body. The man who caused the crash has run, and he is being followed by the son of the company owner. Meg and Brian will be using the dogs to try to find them. However, first they have some first aid to do for injured passengers. After a short rest, they pick up the scent right away, but the two men have a big lead.

Some of the territory they have to go through is very dangerous, and the hiking in high altitude is always dangerous. They even have an avalanche. This is an very exciting book and a great addition to the series.

Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for the chance to read Summit's edge by Sara Driscoll. This is the 9th book in the FBI K-9 series, and I feel that this is my new favourite!!! My emotions were all over place while I read this riveting and intense story. Meg is just 2 weeks away from her wedding when she and Brian with their K-9 partners, Hawk and Lacey are called to track a missing plane which went missing in the Colorado mountains. As with the previous books, the non-stop action, and the incredible research that the author is known for, makes this a definite 5 star read! The description of their trek up the mountains had me a bit queasy, but I couldn't put the book down. The ending was emotional, and I can't wait until the next book!!!

This book kept me rivited. A search party looking for survivors of a plane crash on a dangerous mountain. Details of the climb. the hardships endured and danger from the killer who caused the crash and wants everyone dead. Great characters, great storylines and the search dogs steal the book

Summit’s Edge by Sara Driscoll (FBI K-9 #9) 3.5 stars

A highjacked plane carrying VIP’s, a plane crash in the Colorado Rockies and freezing weather add up to a thriller of a ride for Meg Jennings and her K-9 partner, Hawk. An action packed thriller with danger around every corner. The book had a fast paced, race against the clock vibe. I will say the author is very through about her research – I now know a lot about altitude medical issues and the perils of hiking in the Colorado mountains. There wasn’t a lot of mystery to the book which I disliked. So all action and a little mystery; not Ms. Driscoll’s best work but a fast read nonetheless.

Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Publishing for this ARC.

This is actually the first book I read in this series, but it's no problem reading it as a stand-alone, and it's a great book with fantastic characters and a good plot. At times it seems more like non-fiction with all the facts on geography, dogs and so on, but I like that in a book.

I love this book. Everything is so real, the setting, the characters, the dogs, the actions. You can really tell the author did a lot of research. For a second I thought this was going to end in a cliffhanger…but it doesn’t. Can’t wait to read the next! #Summit’sEdge #NetGalley

Well researched, with engaging characters but not the harder edged crime fiction like it was promoted. This was a book about high altitude mountain climbing with search dogs. After a first chapter highjacking/murder, the rest of the book describes the search in excruciating detail with predictable dangers and pitfalls along the way. I found the resolve at the very end of the book is predictable and anti-climatic. This is the first book I've read in this series. I think long time readers of the series who are more engaged with the lives of the characters will probably enjoy it.

"As long as there’s hope of finding life, no mission is too dangerous for Meg Jennings and her colleagues in the FBI K-9 unit."

Summit's Edge is the ninth book in the FBI K-9 series and follows Meg and her K-9 partner Hawk as they go to rescue plane crash survivors in the Colorado mountains. They also have to take on a hijacker who is determined to stop them. This book can be read as a stand alone, but I highly suggest reading this series since it's so good. The author wrote this one so well and it has so much suspense. I was turning pages until the end. One of my favorite things with this book was the new case they had and the location it was in. All of the characters are awesome especially the dogs.

Overall; an amazing read with suspense, teamwork, K-9s and so much more. I loved this book a lot and would recommend it to any reader especially if you love a good mystery or suspense book. I can not wait for the next book in the series! Thank you to the author Sara Driscoll, NetGalley and Kensington Publishing for this ARC read in exchange of my honest review of Summit's Edge.

I love this series, and Summit’s Edge is a great addition. Meg is just two weeks from her wedding to Todd, but she and Brian (with their dogs) are assigned to find a downed private corporate plane in the Colorado mountains. The plane was hijacked, so they are called in as part of the FBI response.
The descriptions of the search itself are amazing…there is the high altitude, which can be deadly, the loose rocks, the cold weather, and, for Meg, the heights (she is phobic about heights), and avalanches. I love the relationships between the dogs and their handlers and the trust they have in each other.
The story is perfect for dog lovers and nature lovers and throws in a suspenseful thriller story.
Thanks to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC.

Meg is getting married in two weeks so when she and Hawk are called in for a mission that has an unsure time line she's worried., but not as worried as when she finds out they're going to be climbing a mountain.

A plane has been hijacked and crashed. FBI Agents Meg and her partner Brian along with their dogs have been sent in to try to find the crash and hopefully find survivors. They face harsh conditions. The suspense in this book starts from the first. I liked the characters and the plot was good. This is my first book by this author and it won’t be my last. FBI agent Meg Jennings and her canine Hawk are back for another intense search and rescue. This one takes them to Colorado in search of a missing plane that was hijacked. Their goal once the wreckage is found is to locate the person who caused the crash. This is no easy assignment as they have never encounter this type of environment, the weather, mountains and difference in high altitude oxygen for her and her partner. How did this happen when this was a private plane and everyone knew who was onboard.

This is another great story in the FBI K-9 series and it is easy to follow if you haven’t read any of the previous books.

A hijacked corporate plane has crashed in the mountains of Colorado.
FBI K-9 handlers Meg with her dog Hawk, and her partner Brian and his dog Lacey are off to Aspen Colorado. Two weeks before Meg’s wedding. They are joining the search and rescue mission to track possible survivors.
I have a fear of heights and could feel Meg fighting her own fear. I felt as if I was on that mountain with them.
Suspense, detailed descriptions, lives on the line, battling weather, altitude sickness and so much more on this dangerous mission.
This story had me captivated.

I've read most of Sara Driscoll's FBI K-9 series starring FBI handler Meg Jennings and her K-9 partner, Hawk, but this one made my teeth hurt on the first page because the character who opened the book (in the Prologue) was so whiney about her job, the task she'd been assigned, her coworkers--

“probably without so much as a thank-you from the sainted Gloria.”

It’s her job! What's that Dixie Chick line--

"Shut up and sing"

--that resonated with so many people, it became a movie? She wouldn't be whining for long. Within moments of her complaints, disaster struck. Fast forward to the FBI rescue of a downed plane in the Colorado Rockies. Normally Meg wouldn't be involved in this, but the hijacker who brought the plane down did so with gunfire and it was unclear if he--or others--survived the crash and where they eventually landed. Meg and her amazing working dog, Hawk, are best equipped for this task. Meg is up for this assignment as always, but she needs to hurry it to a resolution because her wedding is in two weeks. Multiple teams are dispatched, in varied directions, following the nominal available clues. A lot of time is spent discussing procedures for mountain rescue, using dogs in thin high altitude air to follow scents, and the care required to keep man and beast safe while hunting for survivors. It definitely slowed the action in places, though if you’re into procedurals, you won't feel that at all. Overall, this is an excellent story with lots of excitement and dog interactions. If this is your sort of story, you will love it as much as I did.

I absolutely love this series by Sara Driscoll (aka Jen J Danna). With the FBI - K9 series each book just seems to get better and better, if that’s even possible. The anticipation is like welcoming back a close friend who you don’t get to see very often. Meg and Brian and their significant others and their dogs bring us a shot of reality. The characters are so relatable.
I love how each chapter begins with a definition of something related to the theme of the story. The story builds with gradual anticipation and you do t know what to expect. Each turn of the page leads to more suspense and thrills of excitement. I would certainly recommend this book.

In this latest installment in the series FBI K-9 teams Meg and Hawk and Brian and Lacey are dispatched to Aspen Colorado to assist in locating a plane that crashed somewhere in the mountains. Normally the FBI wouldn’t get involved but a report of a hijacking was called in right before the crash. So in addition to searching for survivors, the teams need to locate the hijacker.

I really enjoyed this one. In addition to the usual difficulty of tracking an unknown suspect, the teams have to contend with the difficulty of working in unfamiliar terrain at high altitude. The author really makes you feel like you are right there on the mountain. A hard book to put down.
