Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to, I couldn't finish this book.

While I found the premise intriguing, and I looked forward to seeing how the connection between Millie, Agatha, and Karl played out, I found much of the writing too flowery and unnecessary -- like the author was trying too hard to make us feel. The character development was lacking for me, and the interactions between Agatha and Karl felt forced and almost cartoon-like.

I wouldn't shelve future books by Brooke Davis; however, I would probably assess my mood before picking up another of her novels, and maybe use it as a palate cleanser between more intricate reads.
