“NetGalley” ARC review (also posted on goodreads and instagram)

I was blessed to receive and review this ARC! This book had everything l've come to love... compelling characters, dramatic intrigue, suspense, action, spicy romance, and banter. I was glued to my kindle for every emotional second. I loved Atlas and Chyler together on every level! ! can't wait to see what happens next in Anathema!!! The plot, the characters, the tension the EVERYTHING is amazing. I will definitely be recommending this book to my friends or literally just anyone who is looking for a phenomenal dark romance! There is ZERO slow burn, it is an Insta-Love story. It's very fast paced, especially towards the end. Ataraxia will have you gripping and holding you at the edge of your seat while also giggling/kicking your feet while also occasionally crying!

Atlas is a CIA agent in a game of cat and mouse after a series of men are found tortured and killed.

Chyler is able to turn off her emotions following a devastating trauma.

The immediate sparks between them was lovely. The spice was spicing and the plot twists were great.

My only complaint is - I hate when trigger warnings are at the end of a e-book.

Thank you to Net Galley, Jacklyn Parker, and Victory Editing for the opportunity to receive this ARC for a review.

ARC Read. Thank you Net Galley and Jacklyn Parker for allowing me to review. I absolutely loved this read. The plot is so great every time I thought I had it figured out she threw a new curve ball. Always one step in front of you. You get it all in this read, star crossed lovers that should never be, murder, mystery, and spice. The spice is on point, passionate and rough, in all the best ways. Leaves you breathless and doesn't scream raunchy. 10/10 can't wait to read the second book in this series.

Not gonna lie, I was ready to DNF this book at 15% because I was bored. I felt like nothing was happening, the situation set up was just not interesting at all. There was so much mundane information that I could genuinely do without.

Luckily, once Chyler and Atlas actually met, things started to happen in a quick succession and, boy, was it a ride.
Storywise, very good flow (after their meeting), fast paced.
Characters were enjoyable, but I didn't find them extra special.
I did not expect the twist, at least not in the way it happened. I always expected Charlotte to be a baddie. The fact that I didn't expect Atlas to be involved in other than CIA capacity raised the rating for me.
Language wise - frases that kept repeating (both appeared 7 times in the book, which is noticeable for me) heterochromic eyes and saccharine smile.

All in all, hard to get into bit very enjoyable.

The ending of this book is amazing. I was not expecting it at all and could not put this book down especially as everything was wrapping up!
Ataraxia is about an assain for hire who falls in love with a CIA agent - I’m sure you can guess what the problem will be there. I really enjoyed the FMC and how strong she was portrayed though she is definitely a little morally grey.
There are quite a few spicy scenes and some triggers. The author has a link that you can look them up or you can go into the book blind. The book has a complete ending, but the door is open for the next book and I can’t wait to read it! Thanks to NetGalley and Victory Editing for the ARC!
4.5⭐️ would recommend

Who doesn’t love a cat and mouse situation with a dangerous FMC and a man that can put his money where his mouth is.
The dirty talk in this was 😳😮‍💨

Chyler is an assassin and Atlas is CIA, tasked with taking down the person responsible for the murders surrounding a large pharmaceutical company.. need I say more?!

Great plot twists with an ending that will leave you hanging for the next installment!
Always check trigger warnings before you jump on in.

Spoiler free review

This book is a baddie retelling of Charlie’s Angels. The FMC in this books is a force to be reckoned with. She’s fun, strong and not someone you want to mess with. Especially when it comes to her man.

The characters are fun, plot is entertaining, spicy scenes are spicy and overall I really enjoyed this book. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for the second!

I was given this ARC from the author and NetGalley to review.
This book was like if Charlies Angels and Wretched by Emily McIntire had a baby. It took me a little bit to get into the story but once I was in I couldn't get enough! Chyler and Atlas have a whirlwind relationship. But it isn't all what it seems. They both had some issues from their childhood they are trying to recover from, leaving them both in a mess. When the twist in this book hit I was like that meme of Michael Jackson eating popcorn, I could NOT put this book down!! I truly did not see that coming. All in all Chyler is a badass, but still very childish from having to grow up too fast and having those around her encourage her behaviours. And Atlas, is, well, you'll see. Would definitely recommend reading this book!

Thank you NetGalley and Victory Editing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ataraxia revolves arounds Chyler Tate, our morally grey and badass assassin for hire who is on an assignment to take down pharmaceutical warlord. She is working alongside to of her best friends, trying to track down his whereabouts and getting their hands dirty. She is mostly closed off, independent and has no time for dating despite her friends pushing her for it.

Then we have Atlas Jenson, a transferred CIA agent who is trying to look into a string of murders linked to the pharmaceutical warlord and to find and taken down the assailant responsible. He has his own dark past that he has to conquer.

When their paths meet, they instantly are attracted to one another. They are both keeping their own secrets and demons while they both break down each others walls as they open up to one another.

I liked the characters individually, especially with a more morally grey female character which this book made me realise I definitely need to read more of.

My issue with this book is that it is very fast paced and not entirely fleshed out and I didn’t believe in the chemistry between the two main characters because it was very insta-love and everything happened so quickly. I just wish there was much more yearning, tension and general built-up chemistry.

The last quarter of the book was the best with its twists and turns and much more needed action. This is where the fast pace of the book finally worked with me because things were HAPPENING. And I was on edge.

Overall, I think this book is decent. The characters were great, It was spicy, had good ideas which are easy to follow and when it got good, I was excited. I just wish it was fleshed out so we could have that much needed tension I craved. I will be on look for the next books to see where this world takes us.

If you like the Mindf*ck series and Charlie’s Angels with a hint of darker themes (check trigger warnings because there are heavy themes) then this would definately be the series for you!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy in exchange for a honest review.

This book was quite fast paced and took lots of plot turns. However, I found myself getting annoyed with all of the non-relevant descriptions. It was more tell than show.
The characters were likeable and the plot was ok.

Where to start?! This book isn’t your typical dark romance (in the best way!). Most dark romances feature a morally grey MMC however this books FMC is a force to be reckoned with… introducing CHYLER TATE. Chyler has a very interesting job and she loves to get her hands dirty! Whilst on a job she crosses paths with your new book boyfriend ATLAS JENSEN. Sparks fly from the start and Atlas has no issues with keeping up with our girl Chyler.

I loved both main characters and the chemistry they had together. The plot was great and it got WILD at the end. It was very fast paced and has early spice - I would say that was the only thing that I didn’t LOVE. It was very insta love - I’m a slow burn girlie what can I say! I loved the Charlie’s angels feel with Chyler, Madison & Alexis - who doesn’t love strong female characters?

If you love dark romance, spice, strong female characters & an MMC with a filthy mouth, this books for you!

‘She began to crawl - and it was the most beautiful thing I had ever witnessed. The way her hips swayed and her shoulder blades pitched with every flawless movement. She was a lioness, prowling for the kill - and I was her pray. Gladly.’

4 star rating for me overall and a 4 ‘hotness’ rating for the spice. I can’t wait to see where this series goes, will definitely continue reading.

Well where do I start.....

This book has me debating whether I was going to finish it or not. Not because it was bad, oh no I just did not want the outcome to be what I thought it would be as I don't think I would of coped.

Well I was surprised...

Chyler is a hired assassin and is working to take down a known pharmaceutical warlord with 2 of her closest pals.
She meets Atlas (a CIA agent) whole workings job and wow does it get hot from there.

The spice is lust worthy and I live the push and pull between the characters and the relationship they build together.

Atlas is a CIA agent working the case to bring the people who are killing all the people working at the pharmaceutical company, but is always one step behind them.

I didn't really like near the end of the story where she just abandoned her friends to the CIA and not look back to be with Atlas. I felt she would of been more loyal to them at least

I really enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to the next one.

Most books focus on morally grey men, but meet Chyler Tate, morally grey badass female with an off switch. When the author said Charlie's Angels but make it dark, she meant it and it is so good. I love a strong, independent FMC and Chyler is definitely that. This is "Touch him and die".

I could not put this book down. Instantly becoming obsessed with the characters, I was desperate to keep reading. The fast pace and dual POV kept me hooked and the pages just kept turning. Dark and intense, the twists kept coming. I'm excited for the second book.

This is a dark romance and comes with trigger warnings.

Very heart pounding!! The writing is beautifully intense, with vivid descriptions and a pacing that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Parker doesn’t shy away from the gritty and the dark, but it’s done with such finesse that it feels fresh and compelling. The storyline is both thrilling and thought-provoking, making it more than just a typical dark romance. I can’t wait for more.

I immediately inhaled the book once I got my hands on it. I absolutely love that the fmc is a badass and not the typical good girl we usually see in DR books. The book title is an absolute tongue breaker but once I realized why it’s named that I was stunned, genius idea. The story idea was so good and I would have actually loved to see more of chylers ‚dirty jobs’. What I honestly didn’t enjoy too much were all the plot twists at the end. I felt like one bomb after another was dropped on me and it was hard to keep up with everything. The spice added to the relationship between our main characters but after a while it was way too much and not enjoyable anymore. It was nice to read about their past and it added a lot of depth to their characters. It’s not a typical dark romance book and that’s what I loved. It was new and fresh and had me hooked from the start. I can’t wait to read the second book as well! I would have liked to see atlas making chyler grovel for a bit after that one plot twist.
