All he wanted was justice. All she wanted was his heart.
Hannah Linder has done it again! I thoroughly enjoyed this regency romantic suspense novel! I was hooked until the very end with all the mystery and thrills. I love the complexity of her characters. They aren’t perfect. They make mistakes. They stumble through what life has dealt them, but you can’t help but cheer them on. Simon’s humanity intrigued me, and his foolishness made me want to know how his story was going to end. I wanted to join in with shouting, “Quit being a fool!!!” When he finally does come to his senses, I couldn’t help but smile and give this work of art all the stars!!!
Hauntingly beautiful and emotional.
This is my first Hannah Linder book as well as my first mystery/gothic romance but now I’ll be searching for more.
The pampered life he has grown up in stifles him. Simon has to escape. He wants freedom, but his freedom cost him and many others. Now he wants revenge.
Georgina is loving, kind, and loyal with a quiet strength and shy disposition that Simon assumes means she’s shallow and silly.
Both Simon and Georgina had no idea the tragedies that laid ahead for both of them when Simon abandoned everything he knew for life in America.
With every new discovery, Simon falls deeper into danger, a danger that is determined to harm him and everyone around him.
Love, loss, betrayal, revenge. Gripping and heart-wrenching. Layers upon layers of mystery and intrigue that kept me turning the pages of this beautifully written and emotional story.
Thank you to Hannah Linder and NetGalley for the copy. All opinions are my own.
This was an extremely intense and chilling regency mystery and love story. It had so much drama, action, intrigue, accidents, murders, devious plots, mystery, kidnapping, a fire, and so much more interesting excitement, and shocking plot twists kept me entertained and engaged. I enjoyed that a relationship that at one time was never given a chance became a beautiful love that was made strong due to everything they went through to find it. I highly recommend reading!
This book was chock-full of chilling twists and turns that kept me up until midnight because I just could not put it down!
I connected a lot with Georgiana but not as much with Simon. My heart broke for both of them though 💔 The children were darlings, and the dynamics between everyone was amazing 😍
So many themes hit home, and the author handled them like an expert. Hannah Linder truly is a master in her craft! No author writes better Gothic Regency than her 🥰
"In a world where everything seemed threatening, she was earnest, kind, light, beautiful, true."
Georgina has never forgotten Simon, the man she was supposed to marry, even after he ran away to America, seeking a life away from the father who has planned his future. Simon’s wife is murdered, and he returns to England with his two young children to find his father is dead and a stipulation in the will that he must marry Georgina or give up his inheritance.
Hannah Linder weaves a story that keeps the reader guessing with those signature “I didn’t see that coming” moments. The slow burn love story is satisfying and sweet.
I received a review copy of the book from the publisher through Netgalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Gothic drama fills the pages of this Regency story that has scenes in 1813 America and progresses to England as Simon Fancourt returns to his family estate. Misconceptions are the rule rather than the exception but stubbornness further complicates the relationship of Simon and Georgina Whitmore who were promised in marriage through a decision made by their parents.
This author gives us a complex story with many villainous characters and some who only later show their true colors. Ms. Linder kept me guessing at the resolution, which did not turn out the way I supposed. The tension was palpable and it certainly kept me turning pages.
With a slight faith thread and a perplexing romance, this story had a dramatic atmosphere of intrigue and mystery.

If you’re looking for your next gothic mystery, look no further than Hannah Linder’s newest novel, Never Forgotten.
Years after Simon Fancourt leaves England society, his family, and his fiancé to start a new life in America, he is forced to return when released British prisoners break into his cabin and kill his wife. Determined to see that justice is carried out and those responsible for releasing the prisoners are condemned, Simon travels back to England to find that many things have changed - and some remain the same. Throughout his own perilous adventure, Simon must work with and learn to trust his ex-fiancé, Georgina, who is attempting to unravel a mystery of her own. Can they survive mortal danger, forgive past sins and move forward together?
If you love books with layers of mystery or, like me, enjoy Abigail Wilson’s spooky regency romances, you’ll find that you’ll also enjoy this novel by Linder. I had a hard time putting it down and loved that the story was so unpredictable in many ways. There was a little more death in this book than I’m used to reading about, but most of it was not gory or described in a lot of detail, which I appreciated. Linder definitely has a talent for story telling, attention-catching mysteries, and heart-warming romance, and this has been one of my favorite stories that I’ve read this year.
I received a lot of this book from the publisher. A positive review was not required. All opinions are my own.
I love this author. She writes some of the best scenes I’ve ever read. There was one particular fight scene that was amazing and not too graphic. The start of the book quickly sets the scene for the purpose of the book. All of the characters were quite memorable. The villain of the story was quite a shock to me when revealed. I felt the ending was perfect and quite satisfying. There were some very intense moments, again not graphic. High faith content. I was blessed with a free ARC, and I’m voluntarily submitting my review. I look forward to reading Miss Linder’s back list and future books.
I love poetic writing and Hannah Linder has perfected it.👏🏼 Never Forgotten was a poetic regency experience and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!
This book had an unrequited love, second-chance romance that wrecked my heart a little before putting it back together. My heart broke for Georgina. I loved her character! My heart broke for Simon too. While it took me a little longer to truly love his character, I ended up loving his character as well. And his children were precious and broke my heart even more.🥺
This book had all the mystery, suspense, and plot twist one could want from a regency novel. It was definitely gripping as I couldn’t put it down and felt like I was there with the characters, feeling all the emotions along with them. It would make a perfect read for a cozy, autumn evening.😍
There were a few gory, violent parts but thankfully they were brief.
In conclusion, Never Forgotten was perfectly emotional, poetic, atmospheric, and regency. If you love books that give Charlotte Brontë and Jane Austen vibes, I think you’ll love this book!
*Thank you to the publisher for sending me a complimentary copy! All opinions are my own.
I adored this one! Such a stunning book! This one was more than a romance-this one was a murder mystery with suspense and action! I could not stop reading. The romance in this book was beautiful and clean! I loved it so much! Give this one a try! Thank you Barbour Books for my early copy!!
Georgina Whitmore and Simon Fancourt have a complicated relationship. Georgina's father demanded that she marry Simon. However, he disappears for twelve years and then arrives back in England with two children and no wife! Although she loves Simon, she fights against her father's wishes to marry him. There is lots of danger happening throughout the book as well as a marriage proposal and the desire to protect themselves and others. I enjoyed the book and had to keep reading whereas I should have been doing something else.
I received a complimentary digital copy from Barbour Publishing and Net Galley and was under no obligation to post a positive review.
I am a big fan of Hannah Linder. Her books are very interesting and full of suspenses. This one was no surprise. I liked the storyline, the plot and the characters. One thing I really appreciate about Ms. Linder’s book is that it shows grief and happiness side by side. There is no hiding the mishaps that happens. It is not a typical romance book but the feelings are so so so great.
{Thank you to @netgalley and to @barbourbooks for my gifted e-copy of this title in exchange for an honest review.}
“We are all vulnerable, more often than not, Mr. Fancourt. Love does not prey on vulnerability but emboldens it.”
I love a classic gothic mystery, and this gothic Regency-era mystery with Christian themes was just the ticket!
This was my first book by Hannah Linder and it surely won’t be the last. The writing of this novel was beautiful, and the suspense was everything I wanted. I loved Georgina and Simon. And of course Simon’s children pulled on every last heartstring.
This book is full of tragedy but also beauty. Well done.
Definitely recommend!
Note: I would recommend looking up a list of trigger warnings for this title if you are a sensitive reader.
Never Forgotten by Hannah Linder starts with a heart-wrenching scene that is the catalyst for a story that is filled with mystery, deception, heartache and a touch of romance.
We follow Simon Fancourt whose wife was brutally murdered. As he sets off across the ocean with his two young children he encounters one problem after the other, leading him to question who he can trust and who he cannot. The one person he should trust, Georgina Whitmore, is still heartbroken at the way he broke off their engagement 12 years earlier and then fled the country for America. She has not stopped loving him but realizes that it might be time to stop.
This book had some interesting characters and side stories that at times made me wonder what was going on. I thought Simon had found the man who helped in the murder of his wife, only to be blindsided by the actual villains. Lots of twists and turns in this one, but at times these roadblocks to Simon's quest left me feeling like I'd missed something.
The ending was wonderful and had me cheering that for once Simon would wake up and listen to those around him. Much of his problem was his pride, his anger, and his inability to care about the wants and needs of his parents. Sometimes, like God, our parents are trying to do the best for us. And sometimes, we are disobedient children who refuse to do the right thing and so God allows us to suffer the consequences of our bad decisions. This book had no faith element to it so it missed this mark on this.
If you like mysteries and a little bit of romance you will probably enjoy Never Forgotten.
I received a complimentary copy from Barbour Publishing through NetGalley for my honest opinion.
"Never Forgotten" by Hannah Linder is a beautifully written mystery filled with danger, intrigue and family drama. There is some extreme violence in the book, however the story with all it's twists and turns keeps you engaged throughout. There are some lighthearted moments as well but most of this is a darker book in so many ways due to the violence, fighting and twisted minds of some of the characters in the book.
The main characters, Simon and Georgina were promised to one another as children. Their fathers always intended for them to marry, however Simon did not want to be forced into the marriage by the will of his father so takes off to the Americas. What happens next I don't want to ruin for readers, but becomes a necessary catalyst to the rest of the story.
This is one where you have many possible suspects throughout the book and during the twists and turns, aspects of each character are revealed. It's a book that shows us that sometimes our stubborn pride can get in the way of something meaningful and I really liked that part. It was hard to figure out the who and why part of the mystery so that was very good to see.
Though this one is from a Christian publisher, this is not a faith filled book. It is a clean read mystery with no romance scenes. This will appeal to both secular readers since it isn't what I would call a Christian fiction book despite the publisher. It is a very good book that can appeal to a wide variety of audiences.
Thank you to Barbour Publishing and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
This book was different then I normally read. More mystery then romance. So much happens and the book was very entertaining. I did want it to end tho. I wanted her to get a bit of happiness somewhere in here. This is a Christian story but it is very light. Talk of God and praying but no preaching. A nice story and an author I might read again.
Simon Fancourt defies society & his father by refusing to marry Georgina Whitmore and disappearing. After 12 years in America, he brings is 2 children back home while he tries to find who killed his wife and receive justice. Georgina has never married because only Simon has held her heart all these years. During his search for the truth, circumstances bring Simon & Georgina together which allows them time to become friends and truly get to know each other. Fate, however is determined to destroy them both. I found the book to be a page turner, with unexpected twists which will keep the readers interest. It is very well written and a great example of strength, love and friendship. I was given a complimentary copy of this book by Barbour Publishing & was under no obligation to post a review.
This book is full of intrigue and twists that keeps the reader guessing.
Georgina was abandoned by a man she loved and was engaged to, only to have him show up twelve years later - full of hate and towing two young children behind. Simon fled England for America in search of something beyond himself. When tragedy strikes, it sends Simon and his children back to England, only to discover more trauma.
Georgina is a sweet heroine, if not naïve by hanging on to the love she has for Simon. Simon is not a likeable character at all. He’s irresponsible, driven by youthful foolishness and then returns as a man full of hate and vengeance. It’s a wonder he ended up with a happily-ever-after!
Secondary characters are hard to read – but create an interesting diversion for both main characters. It’s easy to get lost in all the deception, not knowing who is responsible for any of the problems that arise. And poor Georgina – she gets the bad end of the stick all the time.
The majority of the intrigue is tied up at the end of the story, though I’m still not sure how the characters at the beginning of the story found Simon. It’s not clear, and likely I’ll have to read it again to discover the answer!
The description of the fire is vivid – and may be difficult for some readers – but it’s a turning point in the story that is poignant.
Overall, this was an interesting read as I wanted to find out how all the characters were connected and what was actually going on behind the scenes.
I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinons expressed are my own.
**Solid 4.5** stars if I could!! I loved the intrigue, mystery and romance. All the twists and turns kept me engaged and excited to follow Georgina and Simon’s journey. Hannah Linder used beautiful descriptions and engaging storytelling to bring a clean, romantic suspense that draws you in. I highly recommend!
Amazing! 'Never Forgotten' is a heart-breaking, mysterious, and redemptive romance novel set in 1813 England. Hannah Linder’s suspenseful and emotional-filled writing hooked me from the beginning.
If you enjoy reading clean historical romance novels, then I recommend this book to you!
Special thanks to the Publisher, Barbour Publishing, and Net Galley for a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
