Georgina Whitmore and Simon Fancourt have a complicated relationship. Georgina's father demanded that she marry Simon. However, he disappears for twelve years and then arrives back in England with two children and no wife! Although she loves Simon, she fights against her father's wishes to marry him. There is lots of danger happening throughout the book as well as a marriage proposal and the desire to protect themselves and others. I enjoyed the book and had to keep reading whereas I should have been doing something else.

I am a big fan of Hannah Linder. Her books are very interesting and full of suspenses. This one was no surprise. I liked the storyline, the plot and the characters. One thing I really appreciate about Ms. Linder’s book is that it shows grief and happiness side by side. There is no hiding the mishaps that happens. It is not a typical romance book but the feelings are so so so great.

“We are all vulnerable, more often than not, Mr. Fancourt. Love does not prey on vulnerability but emboldens it.”

I love a classic gothic mystery, and this gothic Regency-era mystery with Christian themes was just the ticket!

This was my first book by Hannah Linder and it surely won’t be the last. The writing of this novel was beautiful, and the suspense was everything I wanted. I loved Georgina and Simon. And of course Simon’s children pulled on every last heartstring.

This book is full of tragedy but also beauty. Well done.

Definitely recommend!

Note: I would recommend looking up a list of trigger warnings for this title if you are a sensitive reader.

Never Forgotten by Hannah Linder starts with a heart-wrenching scene that is the catalyst for a story that is filled with mystery, deception, heartache and a touch of romance.

We follow Simon Fancourt whose wife was brutally murdered. As he sets off across the ocean with his two young children he encounters one problem after the other, leading him to question who he can trust and who he cannot. The one person he should trust, Georgina Whitmore, is still heartbroken at the way he broke off their engagement 12 years earlier and then fled the country for America. She has not stopped loving him but realizes that it might be time to stop.

This book had some interesting characters and side stories that at times made me wonder what was going on. I thought Simon had found the man who helped in the murder of his wife, only to be blindsided by the actual villains. Lots of twists and turns in this one, but at times these roadblocks to Simon's quest left me feeling like I'd missed something.

The ending was wonderful and had me cheering that for once Simon would wake up and listen to those around him. Much of his problem was his pride, his anger, and his inability to care about the wants and needs of his parents. Sometimes, like God, our parents are trying to do the best for us. And sometimes, we are disobedient children who refuse to do the right thing and so God allows us to suffer the consequences of our bad decisions. This book had no faith element to it so it missed this mark on this.

If you like mysteries and a little bit of romance you will probably enjoy Never Forgotten.

"Never Forgotten" by Hannah Linder is a beautifully written mystery filled with danger, intrigue and family drama. There is some extreme violence in the book, however the story with all it's twists and turns keeps you engaged throughout. There are some lighthearted moments as well but most of this is a darker book in so many ways due to the violence, fighting and twisted minds of some of the characters in the book.

The main characters, Simon and Georgina were promised to one another as children. Their fathers always intended for them to marry, however Simon did not want to be forced into the marriage by the will of his father so takes off to the Americas. What happens next I don't want to ruin for readers, but becomes a necessary catalyst to the rest of the story.

This is one where you have many possible suspects throughout the book and during the twists and turns, aspects of each character are revealed. It's a book that shows us that sometimes our stubborn pride can get in the way of something meaningful and I really liked that part. It was hard to figure out the who and why part of the mystery so that was very good to see.

Though this one is from a Christian publisher, this is not a faith filled book. It is a clean read mystery with no romance scenes. This will appeal to both secular readers since it isn't what I would call a Christian fiction book despite the publisher. It is a very good book that can appeal to a wide variety of audiences.

Thank you to Barbour Publishing and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

This book was different then I normally read. More mystery then romance. So much happens and the book was very entertaining. I did want it to end tho. I wanted her to get a bit of happiness somewhere in here. This is a Christian story but it is very light. Talk of God and praying but no preaching. A nice story and an author I might read again.

Simon Fancourt defies society & his father by refusing to marry Georgina Whitmore and disappearing. After 12 years in America, he brings is 2 children back home while he tries to find who killed his wife and receive justice. Georgina has never married because only Simon has held her heart all these years. During his search for the truth, circumstances bring Simon & Georgina together which allows them time to become friends and truly get to know each other. Fate, however is determined to destroy them both. I found the book to be a page turner, with unexpected twists which will keep the readers interest. It is very well written and a great example of strength, love and friendship. I was given a complimentary copy of this book by Barbour Publishing & was under no obligation to post a review.

This book is full of intrigue and twists that keeps the reader guessing.
Georgina was abandoned by a man she loved and was engaged to, only to have him show up twelve years later - full of hate and towing two young children behind. Simon fled England for America in search of something beyond himself. When tragedy strikes, it sends Simon and his children back to England, only to discover more trauma.
Georgina is a sweet heroine, if not naïve by hanging on to the love she has for Simon. Simon is not a likeable character at all. He’s irresponsible, driven by youthful foolishness and then returns as a man full of hate and vengeance. It’s a wonder he ended up with a happily-ever-after!
Secondary characters are hard to read – but create an interesting diversion for both main characters. It’s easy to get lost in all the deception, not knowing who is responsible for any of the problems that arise. And poor Georgina – she gets the bad end of the stick all the time.
The majority of the intrigue is tied up at the end of the story, though I’m still not sure how the characters at the beginning of the story found Simon. It’s not clear, and likely I’ll have to read it again to discover the answer!
The description of the fire is vivid – and may be difficult for some readers – but it’s a turning point in the story that is poignant.
Overall, this was an interesting read as I wanted to find out how all the characters were connected and what was actually going on behind the scenes.

Amazing! 'Never Forgotten' is a heart-breaking, mysterious, and redemptive romance novel set in 1813 England. Hannah Linder’s suspenseful and emotional-filled writing hooked me from the beginning.

If you enjoy reading clean historical romance novels, then I recommend this book to you!

Special thanks to the Publisher, Barbour Publishing, and Net Galley for a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

4.5 ⭐️

Wow! Hannah Linder is a master of creating chilling Gothic mysteries of the Regency era paired with a sweet spin of romance. Every book of hers has left me spellbound, but this is easily one of my favourites!

The split between Regency England and the backwoods of North Carolina connected the two vastly different worlds in my mind. Our hero & heroine are older (comparatively as 27 isn’t that old, haha) but their tangled history left scars on both sides. Georgia’s deep fear of being left behind and alone along with Simon’s inner struggle with his purpose both resonated hard.

And those twists?! In my opinion, this was Linder’s most complex plot yet. Just when I thought I had things sorted, it was revealed I most certainly did not. The twists were certainly twisting!

There were a few minor details that didn’t connect in my head (but that might have been my brain fog); otherwise this was the perfect moody autumn read—thrilling and chilling with each page!

This is a review for Never Forgotten by Hannah Linder that will be released on 11/1/24. This is a review for NetGalley in return for my honest opinion. One morning I found myself awake at 5:30am, and couldn't go back to sleep, so I decided to start reading Never Forgotten, and I literally finished it by 11am that same morning because I couldn't put it down! What a great, exciting, frustrating at times for the characters (not with the story), and so filled with Christ's love and grace that shown like a warm fire thru life's hardest tragedies all throughout this story! My opinion is this is such a great story, with great characters, that grabbed me from the first chapter, and kept me reading till the end! I instantly connected with the storyline, and was blown away by the climax, and was totally stunned by it because it was so unpredictable!! Oh I really loved it, and highly recommended that you read it , and give it 5 stars!

Miss Georgiana Whitmore has given up hope of ever finding love, because the one person she has always loved, and who she found herself engaged to, Simon Fancourt, decided he no longer wanted to be engaged, or tied to the life of an English aristocrat, so he rejects Georgiana, and heads off to America to escape all his father's plans to tie him to the estate and the English way of life. Georgiana stays behind, and tries to pick up the pieces of her life, but she is sure spinster hood is her only choice.

Twelve years later, Simon finds himself in a desperate situation in America, which leads him back to England's shore, and back to the home he tried so hard to run away from. Georgiana can't believe her eyes when she sees Simon getting off a boat, and he is not alone!! How can he, the one who rejected her, be back, and what does this mean for her? And Simon, how will he be able to go home again after so long a time has passed??? Oh you must read the story to find out!!! I loved it, and just can't say that enough!

Talk about a page turner! Someone is out to get Simon, Georgina is finding dried flowers and feeling watched, and you have no idea who is after either of them! I neglected all my adulting to see how this story was going to end. Huge surprises await you reader! You will want to finish this in one sitting.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. This review is my honest personal opinion.

This story takes us from England to Colonial American and back, and beware there is a lot, and I mean a lot of violence in this book. At times you will not know whom will survive, and actually whom to trust.

Parents of young children promise that their children will marry, he decides not to and leave, and he goes on a journey to America. When he returns with two children in tow, he finds that things have changed. He needs to marry the girl he left behind, but this is where they both dig in. There is so much going on here, and someone wants him dead.

The children are delightful, and we are offered some rather odd sweet romance, but beware that danger seems to be around every corner!

How this all turns out is, well, you will need to keep page turning!

Simon & Georgina’s parents arranged their marriage when they were children, but Simon wanted nothing to do with the plans his father had for him. Instead, Simon fled to the Colonies and made a life for himself in the North Carolina mountains. But when his wife was killed by English prisoners sent to the Colonies, and he found a letter asking him to come home because his father had died, Simon, and his two children, went back to England. There he found more danger for his family. With the help of Georgina and his father’s solicitor, Simon navigates the danger and finds that his father may have been right about a few things. Never Forgotten, by Hannah Linder, is a story about growing up, forgiveness, and love. I was able to read an ARC on #NetGalley.

Oh my stars! This was incredible! Hannah has truly outdone herself with this new gothic romance. It was intense, heart pounding, and surprising. There were so many twists and turns, I was shocked when the truth was revealed. The progression of the relationship between Simon and Georgina was achingly satisfying. I loved the growth they both experienced. It has become my favorite Linder book to date.

Thank you NetGalley and Barbour fiction for the advanced copy, all opinions are my own.

Hannah Linder is an amazing author. Never Forgotten is her newest regency novel that had me hooked from the start. The hero and the heroine find themselves in horrific situations that seem like they can’t possibly get any worse. Guess again. Talk about a page-turner. This book is my new favorite tale from Hannah. Bravo!!

Another great book by Hannah Linder! All of her books have a lot of suspense and mystery, but this one seemed to have so much more of both. I couldn't put it down. I really liked how Simon and Georgina's relationship developed in a natural and believable manner. It would have cheapened things if they had overcome their trials and flaws and past hurts too easily.

I have a bit of mixed feelings about this book. It is well written in a way that makes you want to keep reading but on the other hand I found it too slow burn and was waiting for the positive happy ending in the story. The ending was not completely satisfying for me. I will not give spoilers but it would be nice if there was a bit more substantiation as to why they came to certain decisions.

For me it was just an okay book because I felt like something was missing. I really enjoyed the writing style which makes me curious if there is another (shorter) book by this writer that would suit me better than this one.

After every Hannah Linder book I read I am always in awe of how good it was and then I want to binge read the rest of her backlist (which is getting shorter because I’ve been reading a lot)!! This book was no exception! I hate to say it because it’ll probably change again when she publishes another, but I think this one might be my new favorite!

I just loved how Simon had one foot in the proper English world and one in America on a homestead as a self made man. It gave him depth as well as inner turmoil, trying to figure out where he belongs and what he really wants in life.

There were quite a few things in the story I wasn’t expecting! I liked how there was intrigue from several different angles as well a second love interest. It made the story interesting and had me on the edge of my seat! I kinda want Mr. Oswald to get a story now!

The way the book wraps up was exquisite and I kinda loved how it took til almost the very end for things to resolve. Unpopular opinion, but I think the delay added to the angst of the moment and made Simon’s ultimate decision more significant.

I 1000% recommend this book! 5 stars for sure! A huge thank you to NetGalley, the author and Barbor Publishing for the advance copy!
