I so loved this Christmas story! Just like a warm hug - it takes you on this magical journey of love, loss and how family and finding your own true love completely changes you. The cast of characters will keep you giggling for more! A hallmark movie in a book! Awesome job Miranda!
A sweet easy read, perfect for getting ready for Christmas.
Mia is a Pediatric Resident in a Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee .
I immediately was drawn into the story because I’m a Pediatric nurse.
Brax is senior resident at the same hospital, and they had short romance at the start, but he felt he couldn’t give her what she wanted. He does agree to be her “fake “ boyfriend and go home with her for Christmas, her Mom just recovered from breast cancer.
The holidays are joyful and all Mia could wish for especially when Brax starts to realize he has serious feelings for her.
Very happy, romantic holiday romance.
Take Me Home For Christmas is a cute small town romance that is great for starting holiday reading.
Mia works in a hospital and is competing with her ex boyfriend Brax for a partner position. They are friends but he broke up with her when he found out they would be working together and didn’t want to cause any issues at work. Mia finds herself in a predicament as she is headed home for Christmas and is supposed to bring her boyfriend she has been telling her mom about but she didn’t mention they broke up because her mom was recovering from cancer. Brax ends jumping volunteering to go home with her to her family for the holidays and they end up rekindling feelings .
This is a cute romance full of romance and new beginnings . Thank you NetGalley and publisher for a copy for my opinion.
What a heartwarming holiday story. Mia is a pediatric resident who is terrified of going home for the holidays and owning up to her mother that she lied about having the perfect boyfriend. In a complicated turn of events she ends up with the choice of telling her mom the truth, or taking her ex-boyfriend, who she based the fake boyfriend off of home for Christmas. So of course she brings Brax, the ex-boyfriend home. Brax would do anything to help Mia, including trying to stay away from her to protect her from himself. Yet as the two are together in close proximity during the holidays, truths come out and feelings re-surface. This was a sweet feel good holiday story, but please read the trigger warning to see if you should skip this book for your peace of mind. Excited to see this book is the first in a series, I look forward to re-visiting these characters again!
Mia D'Angelo, a third-year pediatric resident, has a wonderful family and, while working at the hospital, falls for Dr. Braxton Hughes. After a few dates, he breaks up with her, wanting only to remain friends since they work together. Mia continues to let her mother believe they are still dating, but she needs him to accompany her for Christmas. Mia asks another male friend to impersonate Brax, but he cancels at the last minute.
Brax learns that she needs a pretend boyfriend for Christmas and volunteers for the role. Brax avoids relationships as he was raised in foster care and is unfamiliar with family dynamics. During Christmas, Brax is welcomed as part of the family and is overwhelmed by the love the D'Angelo family shares. While spending time with the family he learns more about Mia and why she is a doctor.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this heartwarming story.
This book was so heart warming. It's the perfect Christmas book. I laughed and cried. I will be reading it again at Christmas.
What a sweet, fun, and emotional Christmas love story! I laughed and cried while I rooted for Brax and Mia to find their way through their past obstacles and find happy ever after with each other. A holiday must read!
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
What a heartwarming book to start my holiday reading. Tragic pasts unfold as we read about Mia and Braxton. His mother was a drug addict whose children went into foster care. His younger sister was adopted by a wonderful family but he moved within the foster care system until he aged out. He worked diligently putting himself through college and medical school.
Mia became a doctor after losing her twin to leukemia at 9 years old shortly after Christmas. They meet and have a whirlwind relationship until Braxton new job puts him in close proximity to Mia and he felt it would interfere with their relationship.
She tells her Mom about her new boyfriend but then her Mom is diagnosed with cancer, so when Brax broke it off she didn't want to disappoint her Mom so she kept up the travesty. Flash ahead to Christmas and she's headed home. Her family is expecting her to bring her boyfriend. Brax steps up and what starts out as a fake relationship segues to reality. But can the winter wonderland if love they're living continue?
You'll want to read this 5 star book to find out what happens. You'll laugh and cry along with Mia and Braxton as they chase true love and figure out what's important in life.
Although I received a free ARC , all thoughts and opinions are my own
Take Me Home for Christmas by Miranda Liasson is a not so fake romance with bittersweet overtones involving two doctors currently working in the cancer ward. Chief resident Brax and resident Mia had a hot relationship a while ago that he ended, but Mia hasn’t told her family that she was dumped. Her family is expecting her to bring her boyfriend home for Christmas and to her surprise Brax volunteers to accompany her. The real beauty in this story is how this short visit changes these two, allowing long held secrets finally to be revealed and life choices to change. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book from NetGalley. Highly recommend.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this arc!
I really enjoyed this book. It was a light quick and easy read. I loved that it was cozy. This was my first my this author but will not be my last. Can’t wait to read more by this author!
Sometimes I just want to read a sweet christmas holiday themed novel with a second chance romance amd a little light dusting of angst and drama mixed in. Luckily I found this book and it fits that criteria.
✔️ Second Chance Romance-
The Hero and Heroine dated for a few weeks and just as their romance was heating up, he started to work together in their resident program and he told her it was best if they were just friends. He also had severe commitment issues.
✔️ Workplace Romance-
Drax and Mia are colleagues but were lovers before Drax transfered to her hospital. Mia is still upset about the way things ended and never told her mom they broke up.
✔️ Fake Dating-Mia tells her family that her and Drax are still together ❤️. He goes along with the idea as despite his commitment issues, still wants to make Mia happy.
Mia is going home to rural Wisconsin away from the hustle bustle of her job as a resident in the hospital. Her mother is suck so she told her she was still dating her boyfriend Drax and was bringing him home to the family.
Desperate to find someone to substitute for Drax she is about ask a playboy Doctor when Drax steps in and says he'll come woth her and pretend to be her boyfriend. He's convincing and Mia starts to develop feelings for him all over again.
Mias last relationship ended when her fiancée cheated on her after 6 years together. She's invited to their after wedding party as their family's are close but she really doesn't want to go. Brax helps her to face her fears and is a supporting arm as she closes that chapter in her life.
Will their fake relationship develop into a real one again? Will Drax get over his comment issues?
Read to find out.
This book was heartwarming as it was heartbreaking. I advise to get tissues when you read it. Mia has a heart of gold. Her patients mean the world to her. She sees kids that have cancer: Her twin sister died when she was 9.
Christmas is coming up and she needs to bring someone home: Her one friend can’t. So she is prepared to ask another doctor, Brax tells her he’ll go home with her. They went out over the summer, and broke up. Mia just wants to make her mother happy since she was going through cancer treatments. It was great, and Brax was winning her whole family over. The only thing was when she learned something he was hiding from her. Mia had one person do that to her, and she didn’t want a repeat of that. She did learn something about what she really wanted at the same time from Brax.
I’m truly sorry I have to say this. There was one line which I don’t know why it was in the book. It didn’t make any sense. Ms. Liasson basically mentioned “pit bull” . A stereotype on the breed. Why is that? I will say I was deeply offended by this. People train them to fight and attack. They were nanny dogs. How many stars used them in fighting rings?
This wonderful book made me smile, cry and laugh. An endearing book for Christmas or any time to get you in the mood for the holidays.
Swoon worthy Dr. Brax Hughes and sweet Dr. Mia D’Angelo work together to brighten the Children’s Adolescent Ward at a Wisconsin hospital. When Dr. Mia needs a ‘fake boyfriend’ to take home for Christmas, Dr. Brax steps in. However, there is much more to this book than the ups and downs of the relationship between Mia and Brax. Both have deep and lasting tragedy’s in their past. (Thank you to the author for her thoughtful trigger warnings). Overcoming these heartaches is the heart of this special book. All of the characters are sincere and fun loving. Thank you Netgalley and Hawthorne Press for the early copy. This is my honest review of this heartwarming book.
I absolutely loved this book!
Mia and Brax both work at the same hospital. They had a fling months ago, then Brax told Mia he just couldn’t do a long-term relationship. While her mom was going through cancer treatment, she kept up the ruse that she and Brax were dating. Now she’s in a pickle because she’s going home for Christmas and needs a fake boyfriend to pretend to be Brax. A good friend is unable to help her out, so at the last minute Brax offers to go with her.
It turns out to be difficult for both of them, Mia – because she still has feelings for him, and Brax – because he’s never experienced a family Christmas like hers. They’ve never told each other about their childhoods, and they both have issues that need to be discussed.
Loved Mia’s whole family. This was a fantastic Christmas book!
Thank you, Hawthorne House, for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
This is the first book I’ve read by Miranda Liasson and it definitely won’t be the last. Mia and Brax, both pediatric residents, once had a passionate relationship that ended when Brax could not commit. Mia finds herself in need of a fake boyfriend to take home for Christmas, Brax agrees to be that boyfried. This is a very familiar plot and yet in the authors hand it works. Mia and Brax were so likable and the banter believable. I would say the only negative for me was that the book deals with some very heavy subjects so possibly read the included disclaimer before committing to read it.
Mia D’Angelo and Dr. Braxton Hughes were dating for a short period of time, and during that time she mentioned to her Mom that she had met a wonderful guy and was dating him. Soon after that her mom fell ill and she didn’t have the heart to tell her the truth, and she continued with her stories.
Now it’s Christmas time, and her family expects her to bring her boyfriend home. After exhausting all options, she has no choice but to take Dr. Braxton Hughes home with her.
Take Me Home for Christmas is a heartwarming read. I loved the bond shared by Mia’s family. It was a sweet read with some really funny moments.
A wonderful Christmas romance.
Although we have heard the story of faking a boyfriend for the Holidays before, I am always here for a story told by Miranda Liasson. Like all of her books this one did not disappoint and hit the mark on what I want in a Christmas romance book. The story of Mia and Braxton was sweet, heartwarming and at times laugh out loud funny. You fall in love with the characters as you read this book and wish for them a happy ending. Miranda Liasson never fails to draw me in and make me smile the way she tells her stories. Definitely recommend this one for the upcoming holiday season.
I absolutely loved this book, and I can not wait to read more about Oak Bluff and the setting it was to die for. This is such a feel-good Christmas story. I liked how the author wrote the story and the story of Mia and Brax. You will not want to pass up this remarkable Christmas story with all the trimmings for that feel-good fuzzy feeling.
Thank you to the publisher, NetGalley, and the author for allowing me to read and review this book.
This is such an inspirational book. I loved all the characters. Mia and Brax are wonderful. This is a very insightful book into how cancer impacts our lives. It was very sad at times, but it was offset by the magic of Christmas. It’s very well written and I really enjoyed it. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
Loved reading this book. I'm looking forward to more books from this author. I love books that are christmas themed. She is 1 of my favorite authors and I had a hard time putting it done
