I was lucky enough to receive an arc of this book while on vacation and thought i would read it by the pool for the rest of the week. I actually finished it in one sitting the same day!

This is the first book from this author I have read and will be going back to read the rest.

This book follows Marlie, a hospital janitor and Evan an FBI agent who are thrown together when Evan finds a young boy, Noah, who has been taken hostage. Despite some trauma in Marlie’s past which makes her reluctant to become involved she is the only one who can get him to talk and help Evan locate the other missing children. Evan has some trauma of his own and both Marlie and Evan are forced to face and overcome while protecting Noah and trying to save the rest of the kissing children. Noah also has an adorable k9 partner Blue who gets his own love story!

When I started this book I disappointed to find it was in 3rd person as I much prefer 1st person. However the writing style does not leave you feeling like you are in the viewpoint of the narrator as some do and I still felt like I really got to know the characters and understand their emotions and motivations. I loved the side characters too! I think there is a really good mix of action and romance which moves the plot along but doesn’t feel like it’s instalove or far fetched.

All in all this was a solid read and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense.
