This was just about okay. I enjoyed the character, Lara and I could see her motivations. But there was such little written about how she moved on from her life of crime that she was exposed to. So many of her behaviours made it seem like she hadn't actually done the growing up that she had to. That kind of made it seem like the character was half baked.

And I don't know what it is about these kind of romances. The flash in the pan, hurried love at first sight romances. They lack depth. We didn't get any back story about Nick, the protagonist. There wasn't enough about Lara's life as a part of a criminal family. And yet, this book went on for so long. That kind of confused me.

I mean, the book was just okay. It wasn't great and it wasn't that bad. I think it could be a lot lot better written. But not my first choice if I was given a book to read. If you're looking for a thriller, this one isn't. If you're looking for an emotional literary fiction, this isn't it. It's just messed up somewhere in between.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
