Sweet and cute. I too love to make little crafts for my grandma. I also learned a bit about Jewish culture!

This was a cute book. I was not a fan of the illustrations. I thought the pictures could have been more vibrant especially since it was about art and flowers!

I loved that this book included Jewish culture without being about Hanukkah or Passover or temple. I did think it was odd that the pronunciation of CHAI wasn’t pronounced until well after the word itself was introduced.

This was a delightful book. I grew up with a creative grandma who gardened and this made my heart smile.
I loved how Sadie came up with such a creative, thoughtful and sweet collection of 18 flowers for her grandma.

The illustrations were great too.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

Tender story of the love between a grandmother and granddaughter. Sadie love doing art projects with her grandmother. Together, they explore and create using all sorts of mediums. Sadie wants to find a special gift to celebrate her grandmother's college graduation so turns to flowers and art. She thinks hard and explores making different creations using 18 items but none are special enough. Finally, she figures out how to make the perfect gift combining flowers, art and the special number 18.
Lovely soft focused illustrations capture the joy and love surrounding this story. Do read the Author's Note sharing the basis for this tale.
Definitely one to share for special occasions and celebrations.

Sadie is a young girl who shares a love of creativity with her grandmother. When they're working on their art pieces, Sadie learns the meaning of the Hebrew word 'chai': life. As her grandma prepares to graduate college, Sadie deliberates over a gift -- how can something possibly be fabulous and creative enough to represent her grandma? How can it evoke chai?

A very sweet, touching story, complete with endnotes that introduce the reader to both the Hebrew alphabet and the artist Marc Chagall.

(Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free digital copy in exchange for an honest review.)

Alison Goldberg’s Eighteen Flowers for Grandma is a delightful story about a girl who is inspired by her grandmother’s love of art. Sadie decides to make her grandma a special gift in honor of her approaching graduation. She tries and tries and tries again until she finally creates the perfect collection of 18 flowers.

Jesse White’s illustrations are magical and this will be a wonderful addition to my classroom library. Thank you to NetGalley for sharing this beautiful story!

Thank you to Net Galley for this e-copy of Eighteen Flowers for Grandma by Alison Goldberg in exchange for a honest review. This book is the story of little Sadie who struggles to find the perfect gift for her Grandma when she graduates college. She attempts to make her many different gifts before settling on the perfect one. I love that this story is based on the author’s own experiences with her own grandmother who graduated from college later in life and who shared with the author the meaning of chai ( life) and the importance that art and flowers play in it.Perfect for grandma and granddaughter story time.
