This is one of those books that just hits you right in the soul. It's raw, authentic, and absolutely beautiful. If you've ever had to strip away the layers of who others wanted you to be in order to find your true self, this collection will speak to you in the most profound way.

Lovelace has this incredible way of crafting words that make you sit back in awe, like she knows exactly what you’ve been through. The connection you feel while reading is something special—it's like she's right there with you, holding your hand through each poem.

I can't say enough good things about this book. It's honest, vulnerable, and so empowering. If you’re on a journey of self-discovery or just need to feel seen, “She Followed the Moon to Herself” is a must-read. Lovelace’s words will stick with you long after you’ve turned the last page, reminding you of the beauty and strength in your own story.

Thank you NetGalley and Amanda Lovelace for this ARC is exchange for my honest review, it was a dream getting to read this in advance. 💕🦋🌙

Amanda Lovelace’s "she followed the moon back to herself" is a poignant and evocative collection of poetry that resonates with themes of self-discovery, healing, and empowerment. Part of Lovelace’s well-regarded "women are some kind of magic" series, this book continues to showcase her distinctive voice and emotional depth. The collection is structured around the metaphor of the moon, which Lovelace uses to explore the journey of finding oneself amid darkness and uncertainty. Her verses are both accessible and profound, characterized by a direct, confessional style that invites readers to confront their own vulnerabilities and strengths. One of the standout aspects of "she followed the moon back to herself" is Lovelace’s ability to distill complex emotions into simple, yet profound language. Her poetry often feels like a conversation with a close friend, offering solace and encouragement. This personal touch is likely to resonate with anyone who has experienced a period of introspection or personal growth.

I haven't read a collection of poetry that took my breath away in a long time. While this doesn't do that, it was a breath of fresh air that excited me to finally dive deep into the genre and find collections I love again.

She followed the moon back to herself is the 10th poetry collection by Amanda Lovelace, which deviates from some of her other books and strives to be more autobiographical and authentic than their recent collections. It mainly follows the theme of feeling lost, and as the title suggests, finding your way back to yourself. That caught my eye and made me want to read it immediately since I've been struggling with it myself. It is also paired with beautiful illustrations that make the feelings in the poems come to life.

I enjoyed my reading experience with this one. While it's supposed to be different from Lovelace's other works, it does have her classic voice. It's simple and straightforward, but it can be metaphorical as well. There were some poems that were too simple for my liking, but I think that makes her writing more accessible to newer readers of poetry. It's touching, inspiring, and relatable even if it doesn't necessarily do anything new.

I'm quite sure I've read all the other collections by Amanda Lovelace, and I think this one does feel more authentic as they intended. I prefer it over the collections about fictional characters and fairytales, because it makes the feelings more impactful. I'd recommend it especially to people who aren't that familiar to poetry, and to anyone who wants to read something short and sweet.

Another great poetry collection by Amanda Lovelace. This one is very personal. I really connected with many of the poems. Highly recommend.

While Amanda Lovelace's previous poetic installments covered fairy tale themes and motifs, her latest collection is an exploration of self.

This collection of poems shows an inside look into Lovelace's journey of self-love. It's almost like taking a peek inside her journal entries. She lays bare her struggles for self-acceptance. Many readers will find a connection in her spirit of transparency and authenticity. Lovelace explores herself through many lenses: as a woman, writer, Scorpio, person with ADHD, body acceptance, etc. These facets bring Lovelace's nuances to light, reminding us that we're more than just one label.

Lovelace's signature writing style is present, along with though-provoking verses. This poetry collection is a quick read, perfect to keep by your beside table.

This was my first experience with Amanda Lovelace's work, and I found it thoroughly enjoyable. The book’s artwork is stunning and perfectly complements the poems. Reading it on my Kobo Colour, the visuals were especially striking.

The poems delve into heavy themes such as body image issues, eating disorders, self-injury, religion, and death, with trigger warnings provided at the beginning. Lovelace’s writing resonates deeply, making readers feel seen and understood. I particularly connected with the poem about aging, which beautifully captures the journey of growing up.

For my first encounter with Amanda Lovelace’s work, I’m pleased to have had the opportunity to read her upcoming book. I recommend it to readers, as it offers a profound and spiritually resonant experience.

I read The Princess Saves Herself In This One Back when it was first released in 2017 and I didn't love it. I felt the poetry was immature and essentially rambling sentences with line breaks. I had hoped when I requested Lovelace's latest collection that the writing would have matured over the past 7 years but unfortunately it still fell short for me. I think it will resonate with some readers, but that reader is not me. Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel publishing for the opportunity to read and review.

I’ve really enjoyed some of Lovelace’s previous poetry collections so it’s no surprise I enjoyed this as well. The author is phenomenal at short form poetry that really packs a punch. I really appreciated the focus on self-love, body acceptance, and witchcraft in this collection.

Thank you, Netgalley and the publisher for always approving my requests of amanda lovelace's work. I love her poetry no matter what some people might say.

This poetry collection felt so personal and has some many gems. A few favourites of mine include: Luna, in her self-acceptance era, she followed the moon back to herself and that's enough for her.

The art work is also stunning. I love the moths and the artwork instead the poetry collection.

If you like feminism, witchcraft and healing journeys this is the poetry collection for you

I've distanced myself a bit from this type of poetry books, and I've come to the conclusion that they're not for me, and I'm no longer the audience they aim to reach. There are a few that I did enjoy, but most seemed like pretentious phrases, very much in the 'Live. Laugh. Love.' style.

Amanda Lovelace loves to get me all proud of being a woman and that’s something that brings me back every time. The passion you can feel that was put into this is very apparent.

I do feel once you’ve read one of Amanda’s poetry you’ve read them all which isn’t a bad thing for most people I just wanted something a bit different.

I’d like to thank NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

I am not sure what the difference is, but this poetry collection feels decidedly different from Lovelace’s other poetry collections. It feels too trite and more like a composition of things I would see on Instagram (“We are the daughters of witches you didn’t burn.” Etc etc) as opposed to things I could relate to.

There were some poems that I did enjoy more, and I appreciate the moments of body acceptance, but overall this made me wonder if I had outgrown Amanda Lovelace.

If you love sassy but witchy Instagram fodder, then this might be the collection for you.

This book follows a journey of self healing and discovery as a woman learns to love herself. Reading this was incredibly therapeutic, as it is normalizing mental health struggles and body standards through spirituality and self care. I love poetry, and this book is giving “I’m just a girl” in all of the best ways possible. If there is one thing Amanda Lovelace has conveyed through her writing, it is that everyone is beautiful regardless of what you’ve been through or who you are. You deserve to be loved for who you are and not for who people want you to be, and that you should never be ashamed of being you. Everyone deserves to light a lavender scented candle, surround themselves with crystals, and follow the moon back to yourself.

For the first time I have rated Amanda Lovelace’s poetry collection higher than 3 stars. I adore this book as it centers of self-love and embracing your flaws. It uplifts you to be more confident with yourself and never letting others mock you.

Simple yet impactful.

I was given the opportunity to read this beautiful book of poetry before it released. This is a lovely addition to Amanda Lovelace’s 9 previous poetry collections.

Each book has been crafted to display genuine emotions and provide readers with an opportunity to delve into their own thoughts and feelings. I personally appreciate poetry and Amanda Lovelace's skill in creating relatable experiences that resonate with readers.

Cultivate deeper bonds and transform lives through the power of written words, fostering empathy and understanding.

First of all the illustrations were STUNNING! I’ve read all of Amanda’s books and her words just have a way of speaking right to your soul in the ways you need it most! I loved the spiritual aspects of this piece and the messages of empowerment! Definitely recommending to others!

As someone with two moth tattoos, I love the moth iconography. My favorite poems were "now, if anything, she thanks them for the lessons.", "it's just that she's a scorpio.", and "celestial are they.". Poems regarding the grief and acceptance of losing friendships, acknowledging the lessons learned, and the importance of looking at people or situations in a different light are all topics that I love reading about in poetry. The queer representation and reflections are really appreciated as well.

Unfortunately, I didn't like or relate to most of these poems. The only reason I'm going into detail about what I didn't like is because I think many people will love these poems for the exact reasons that I dislike them. The poems flow along the same stream as Taylor Swift and Colleen Hoover fans do. I truly trust that Lovelace wrote these from the heart, but to me, the topics/ideas written about are overplayed and ostentatious. They give off a "Look What You Made Me Do" and "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me" vibe that just does not work for me at all. These poems covered important topics that should be talked about and reflected on, they just weren't done in a manner that I personally like.

Thank you to NetGalley, Andrews McMeel Publishing, and Amanda Lovelace for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I think some of the topics covered here are important and relatable, but this lacks the depth I look for in poetry. It felt more like a diary with scattered thoughts and feelings than actual poems. 13 year old me would've ate this up, but 30 year old me would much rather read Mary Oliver. Thank you Netalley for the ARC.

This book feel like a first aid from every women. Every page you open gives you a boost of good energy. It takes you back to your own unique self. It's so empowering! It's full of love and acceptance. It's magic.
Don't expect Robert Frost poetry from this book, but expect a key to woman's soul, expect feeling good.
I am anxious, ADHD, scorpio, feeling really under the weather in the past year- thank you for reminding me who I am. I have found some of my lost pieces thanks to this book.
I love the illustrations in it and cover of the book. Pink and green have been my favourite combination this year!
I will definitelly need to get myself a physical copy of this book, and carry it everywhere.
Thank you for eARC.

In a wild turn of fate, Amanda Lovelace published work that's entirely convivial (that's not a backhanded compliment, I love her poems regardless). Unless I've missed another collection that is wholly buoyant though, this is a fairly new vibe for her and I'm definitely here for it.

My only complaint is the continuous mention of astrology. I'm not sure it's fair to consider it a real "complaint" though, because I know going into anything by Amanda that it's going to mention astrology.

{Thank you bunches to NetGalley, Amanda Lovelace and publisher for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!}
