Ok, this book had me on the edge of my seat and I didn’t not see the twists coming. SO good! I might have given it 5 stars, except the ending leaves us wondering what’s next.
Wow what a fantastic thriller this was. I could not put it down from the first page until the very last it was very gripping. It was a fast paced thriller with so many twists and turns what a rollercoaster of a read it was. I loved how it went from past to present which built up the suspense throughout. I can’t wait to recommend this page turner of a thriller. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this excellent thriller.
In this book, I am thrust into a psychological thriller that grips from the very first page. The novel centers around a woman who receives a shocking email from her long-lost best friend, Izzy, who has been presumed dead for twenty years. The email accuses the protagonist's new husband of being her stalker, thrusting her into a whirlwind of fear and doubt.
The strength of this book lies in its fast-paced narrative and engaging plot twists. The storyline is intense and keeps you guessing until the end, with every chapter unveiling new secrets and raising the stakes. Despite the dark subject matter, the book remains easy to read, making it an engrossing page-turner.
There are minor issues worth noting. The ARC contains a few typographical errors, though they do not significantly detract from the overall experience. Additionally, some points of view are not clearly labeled, which may initially cause confusion but becomes manageable as the story progresses. The ending is a cliffhanger, which might leave some readers craving more, but it was satisfying enough to wrap up the book’s main conflicts.
Overall, this is a compelling thriller that effectively blends suspense with emotional depth, making it a must-read for fans of the genre.
Thank you NetGalley for this awesome book!
“Holy cow!,” as Izzy would say, I could not put this book down and when I did, all I could think about was, “What’s going to happen next?!?!?”
My Husabnd’s Past by Shari J. Ryan had me hooked from the first chapter. The gas lighting I went through while reading this book was insane, I didn’t even trust myself at one point! Jess is happily remarried to Griffin, when she wakes up one day to an email from a childhood best friend, Izzy. Not too shocking, right? Well, Izzy has been missing for over two decades and her email warns Jess that her husband is not who she thinks he is and is the reason for Izzy’s disappearance.
Abby was my favorite character. She’s fearless and not one to beat around the bush compared to Jess at some points of the book. This is my first read by Shari and it won’t be the last, she’s officially one of my favorite.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Super good book! This one kept me guessing for sure. I honestly I thought I had it all figured, I wasn't even close on this one. Great job of throwing us off track 😃 I highly suggest this fun fast paced book.
Thanks to netgalley, the publisher and author for the chance to read this ARC.
WoW! I was hooked from the first chapter. Short, fast paced chapters switching POV between both past and present; each leaving you hanging. It kept getting creepier but I just couldn’t put it down. I didn’t see the end twist coming. This was a one day read for me.
Thank You to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Shari J. Ryan for the opportunity to read and guiltily enjoy this ARC.

Shari has done it again! WOW! If this isn't a book to brag about I don't know what is... I started it late last night. Never did I anticipate I would be closing the book at 1am left in complete shock... This book was insane! It was twisted, it was gripping but it was so darn good!
Gosh, I certainly didn’t see that ending coming!
Once I started this book, I raced through it. It’s a hugely enjoyable domestic thriller.
This is my first book by this author, however it certainly won’t be the last.
Loved the premise of the book. A cold case and its impact in the present time with a bunch of suspicious characters and packed with twists. The story gets Kickstarted from page 1 which is something that reeled me in. I also liked the way the characters and narratives have been fleshed out.
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for this e-arc in exchange of my unbiased review.
Clear your afternoon because you won’t want to put this book down! My Husband’s Past is a gripping thrill ride with twists and turns in each chapter. The authors storytelling had me invested in each character. A quick read with a jaw dropping ending.
Jess, Natalie, and Izzy are the best of friends when on the night of their senior year bonfire, Izzy disappeared. Twenty years later, Jess, now happily remarried with two kids, receives a shocking email that has her questioning her past and present. What really happened to Izzy and can Jess trust those close to her now?
Wow, just wow! Shari J. Ryan's "My Husband's Past" whirlwind ride left me breathless and wide-eyed. From the moment I dived into this psychological thriller, I was utterly gripped.
It comes with a plot twist that hit me like a freight train—I genuinely thought I had it all figured out, but Ryan had me running headlong down the wrong road!
The story is a brilliant concoction of suspense, mystery, and emotional depth. The protagonist's world crumbles as she reevaluates everything she thought she knew about her husband and her friend, Izzy, who supposedly disappeared decades ago.
The writing is sharp and evocative, and I found myself racing towards the end, devouring every word in a desperate attempt to uncover the truth. If you enjoy thrillers that keep you guessing, this one's for you. Trust me when I say it's a must-read! Prepare for an intense journey that'll have you questioning every character's motives.
I just finished the best book! My Husband’s Past was a fabulous read! It was captivating and thrilling!!
Jessica's best friend Izzy disappeared two decades ago, right after high school. And although Jessica was aware of two things - that Izzy was seeing someone at the time, and also that she was being stalked - the lack of answers about what actually happened to Izzy has haunted her ever since.
Now, happily married to Griffin, she is horrified to receive a message purporting to be from Izzy, telling Jessica that her beloved husband was at one point Izzy's stalker.
Can that possibly be true? And if so, why has it taken Jessica's friend so long to get in touch with her again?
This is an engrossing and very twisty thriller that will keep most people well entertained. Well worth checking out if you enjoy stories that are a real roller-coaster ride. It gets 3.5 stars.
Definitely a lot of twists and turns in this book. Was a crazy read at one point to me nearer to tge and tge story was getting to be too much. I finished it and was glad at the ending. Was a good read.
Thanks to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an early release of this book.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It had the perfect amount of twists and turns through out the book and I can not wait to read what happens next.
Wow. This story takes you on a WILD ride! Not at all what I was expecting to happen and a shocking twist/end but I loved it!
Jessica’s best friend Izzy disappeared 20+ years ago after a bonfire their senior year of high school. She had recently been dating a guy she kept separate from her friends… but did mention that she was being stalked.
20 years later Jessica gets an email from Izzy- she’s alive and warns Jessica that the stalker.. is her husband of 2 years, Griffin.
What follows is literally one of the best thriller stories I’ve read in 2024. I would’ve given 5 stars but I really wanted more at the ending. I understand cliffhangers but dang!
Regardless- a great story and worth the recommendation and read! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this arc in exchange for my honest review.
This is my first read by Shari J. Ryan. Though there were several twists, some of which were unpredictable, I had most of them figured out my midway through.
The premise is based on a teen who goes missing decades before and supposedly her then secret boyfriend is to blame. As the story unravels, we learn more about how each person could have played a part in her disappearance.
Thank you to NetGalley, Shari J. Ryan, and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A jigsaw puzzle of a book. There are lots of places where you think who did that or why? It all comes together at the end. Be prepared To be shocked on the edge of your seat at times and to have the rug pulled out from beneath your feet!
𝑰𝒇 𝑰'𝒗𝒆 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆, 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆.
Jess and Griffin are happily married, but like any married couple, there are secrets. A big part of Jess's past is her high school best friend Izzy, who disappeared after a party twenty years ago. Jess thinks of her often, so when she opens her email one morning to find a message from Izzy, she's dumbfounded. Where has she been this whole time, and why is she warning her about her husband Griffin?
Told in dual timelines, then and now, the past was a treasure trove of information about the dynamic between the two girls. There was true friendship tinged with the normal amounts of jealousy and resentment, but most compelling was the "Romeo" who was courting Izzy. Jess and other friends were concerned that he was actually stalking Izzy, and after she disappeared, they were convinced he had something to do with her disappearance.
As more information is uncovered, the mood became more and more tense; however, when that shocked of a twist hit, I was SO unprepared. This was a riveting, engaging read that will have you questioning everything!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Bookouture for the early read. At the time this review was written, this title was expected to publish September 23, 2024.
