I loved the characters Ezra and Magnolia. Done wrong by someone they trusted. A chance encounter brings the blocks tumbling down around them. "So much trouble", loved this when she said it. Some things never change. The intensity was there in this read, as well as the navigating of feelings between the two after so much time had passed. Magnolia was bossy at times, and I loved it. These Redemption Harbor characters are awesome, they interact fabulously and just like any family would. This series just keeps getting better and better.
I voluntarily reviewed this book.
I jumped into this series late in the game and have been working my way backwards because I enjoyed it so much. Fighting for Hailey is a break off series from the Red Stone Security series ( which I need to read since I own them all!) Ten years ago there were four foster teenagers that formed a family. Jesse, Cash, Easton and Hailey. As they're preparing to embark toward college Hailey decides to leave the group and join the military. She didn't tell any of the guys her reasons. Easton and Cash loved Hailey like brothers. Jesse loved Hailey with all of his heart. Hailey avoided keeping in contact with them but they sent letters and packages over the years while she was in the Marines. Jesse, Cash and Easton worked towards big careers for themselves but never forgot Hailey. Now it's a decade later and Easton has been kidnapped and Hailey is back to find him along with support from her friends at Redemption Harbor Security. Now that Hailey is back, Jesse wants answers that will hopefully help mend his broken heart along with finding his friend. This was a solid suspense story as well as a great second chance romance. Fighting for Hailey was told from multiple POV and has plenty of action, humor, intrigue and heat! Now to go read more of the backlist!
I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
This book is full of action and second chance romance vibes. I enjoyed Ezra and his friends at the security company. Magnolia believes Ezra left her all those years ago however someone in her family betrayed Magnolia and basically sent Ezra away.
Now Ezra is back but he will have his hands full keeping Magnolia and her son Lucas alive.
The fourth book of a suspense romance series that I devoured
As someone who loves second chance romances but also single mother trope, I was delighted to read this romance =) Add to that the story with the threats and attempted murders and I read this book way too quickly ><
Only one criticism : I might have liked a longer book with a more developed plot and maybe more angst =)
In short, a sexy suspense romance that I read with pleasure !
Oh, I really enjoyed reading, Fighting for Magnolia. I'm a sucker for happy endings. It seems like all of the family might be getting one. Ezra is very patient and thoughtful when it comes to Magnolia and her feelings. Also their sons feelings and emotions. I hope to be able to read more books in this series soon.
I absolutely love this series. Katie Reus has me completely hooked. The characters are all so wonderful and work together so well. In this book we get a new couple to love and I adore Ezra and Magnolia and their second chance story. By chance Ezra runs into Magnolia after all this time when he protects her from an attack. So many years have passed and neither has ever loved anyone else. Finding out what made Ezra leave without a word all those years ago was a difficult thing to deal with. Can they move forward now that they are in each other’s lives again? Can Ezra keep Magnolia safe from whoever is threatening her? Ezra missed out on 17 years of his son Lucas’s life and he does not want to miss out on more but he and Magnolia are both hesitant to be more than friends even though it is clear the attraction is still there, and the love. Things are complicated until they aren’t. This storyline is fantastic and keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering who is out to get Magnolia. And of course we get the HEA we hope for, even more than I hoped for.
Fighting for Magnolia is the 4th title in the Redemption Harbor series. This one is a very fast paced story with a lot happening over a short period of time. Ezra and Magnolia met when they were in their late teens, and they haven't seen each other since then. Secrets are revealed early in the story. There is a lot of action. I wish the story was drawn out a bit more. I felt like I was missing things as I was reading. Everything happened around December and the holiday season, which was briefly mentioned towards the end of the book. I would have loved to see more of the relationships between all the characters develop. The entire book feels a bit rushed and jammed packed. I was able to read the entire story from cover to cover in a day.
It is a time of great romance reads. Fighting for Magnolia was the latest book that I have read. This was an enthralling read.
Fighting for Magnolia is an exciting, second change romantic suspense read.
Magnolia and Ezra dated as teenagers. Magnolia found herself pregnant and when she went to tell Ezra he had disappeared without a trace.
20 years later, Ezra saves a woman on the street, and it turns out to be Magnolia, the woman who broke his heart.
After they clear the air, and find out the truth of what happened all those years ago they must find a way to move on, while trying to figure out who is after Magnolia and keep her safe.
This was an exciting read, that I could not put down.
He promised forever, but then he left… Magnolia fell fast and hard for the boy her parents warned her about. He told her that he wanted to give her the world, but then vanished. Now she runs a successful company in New Orleans and her son is picking out colleges but someone is lurking in the shadows, stalking her every move. And they won’t stop until she’s six feet under. Now he’s back and not going anywhere…. Great read!!! I hate to say I’m kind of tired of romance books they all seem the same ol thing!! Luckily these books have romance with a bite!! lol they have great suspense, murder, mystery, intriguing, and yes some hot romance! The storyline is very interesting and keeps me glued to my kindle! I highly recommend reading this book and series! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
Fighting for Magnolia is Redemption Harbor Security Book #4 in the spin-off series of the Redemption Harbor Series by Katie Reus and focuses on Magnolia and Ezra. I am so enjoying this series! I love this author’s style of writing, most especially her romantic suspense series. Magnolia and Ezra’s story is a second-chance romance that will grab at your heartstrings. But don’t think this book is all about romance because there’s tons of action, drama, intrigue, suspense and, of course, the found family aspect that is my favorite trope. It’s hard to pick a favorite so I would just suggest reading them all! It can be read as a standalone and doesn’t require you to read the other books in the series, but do it anyway. You won’t be sorry! I’m grateful to have been given an opportunity to read an advance copy of this book through NetGalley.
So, Ezra…omgosh, I was drooling over him the entire story. Just wow! Could you ask for a better man? Nope. Ezra and Magnolia were dealt a blow that neither knew about and when it comes to light and the way they handle it is so amazing. Both Ezra and Magnolia are wonderful people who I would want to be friends with. Love seeing characters from previous stories and it adds to the camaraderie and love amongst these wonderful characters.
Action, intrigue, betrayal, lies, and second chances - an amazing team of characters that pulls everything together, and a simmering rollercoaster leading to the HEA. Can't go wrong with this series, keeps getting better.
Heartbreaking beginning for our couple. The plot moved quickly after that, as the hero jumps in to help the Magnolia, or heroine, figure out why and how is putting her life in danger, as they figure out their past. I wish there was a bit more explanation there, but it also nice to think of them as soul mates as well.
Another good addition to Katie Reus' Redemption Harbor Security series. A spinoff series means lots of familiar faces, which can be confusing, but it didn't detract overly much.
Both protagonists are solid. Magnolia is strong without straying towards TSTL. Ezra is the requisite hot protector type with a soft spot for those he cares about. The suspense is decent of a bit predictable.i would have preferred a bit more of it; incidents happen but kind of randomly.
As for the romance, I needed more. We know they were together for a year when they were 17, and the blurb lets us know that they were broken up by lies so Ezra never knew he had a son. But that was literally half their lives ago. I needed to see more of their relationship to buy into that it was a love for the ages. I don't want to minimize teen love, but it didn't seem realistic to never have gotten over each other, at least not with what we, the readers, are given to work with. And when the truth about the part is revealed—early on, thankfully, because I hate that kind of angst—it seemed a little too easy on them all. I have a son Lucas's age, and when I think of all I would've missed... gah.
But it's a good story that kept my attention, as Reus's stories always do. I'm looking forward to Berlin's story next!
I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!
I couldn't put this one down.
I love second chance stories, and this one was well done. I feel like the introduction of Ezra and the son he didn't know about was handled tastefully, and I appreciate that dramatic tropes weren't used just for the heck of it. The book had a good amount of suspense and spice. As someone who hasn't read the previous books in the series, it did take a moment to get my bearings with respect to the security team characters, but that's pretty typical when you're several books into a romance series. Overall, just a really delightful read.
What an amazing second chance romantic suspense book! I fell in love with Magnolia and Ezra. This book is full of angst. Lots of danger. I loved following the mystery of who wanted Magnolia dead. It was a thrilling read! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This Series Just Gets Better and Better!
Ezra and Magnolia should have made a life for themselves years ago but in bizarre circumstances neither of them expected, they wear tore apart!
With much loved characters from previous books in the series, an action packed entertaining storyline full of twists and turns with the suspense building as you get more involved in the story.
A page-turning second chance at love with a swoon-worthy HEA!
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book is fantastic!!! Each novel is better than the one before. I loved Magnolia and Ezras story. - from their teenage romance to skipping ahead 20 years and learning of another's interference in their lives.
I was totally engrossed in this book and found myself turning pages just as quickly as possible to see what happened next. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars...
Fans of the genre will love this one and want to put it at the top of their TBR list. The author is on my must read authors ' list.
Magnolia and Ezra were childhood sweethearts, but they were torn apart by misunderstandings and interference. Now 17 years later they meet again and Ezra finds out he has a son. In the midst of this reunion someone is targeting Magnolia and Ezra is determined to protect her. This book is a second chance romance with a mystery and suspense. There is also a good cast of characters. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
