This book frustrated the hell out of me and left me with a hand print on my forehead from how much of a facepalm it was.
So many of the decisions by the couples made no sense at all. Especially him, like come on man. Like I know when it comes to domestic violence leaving is hard but when he’s talking to EVERYONE about leaving her and he STILL comes home to her and STAYS ! Even after she HITS him. Like seriously he stayed for way too long. Wasn’t till 70% of the book that he left. 70% !! So much of the book nothing happens. Day to day activities, time jumps and the occasional little moment.
And then after all that wasted time the couple is together for like a month before it ends on a breakup cliffhanger where he avoids her for days comes over in the middle of the night, fucks her and then breaks up with her in the morning. I have never wanted to throw a book more than this one. Like he isn’t painted to be a bad person quite the opposite but the way he treats her at the end made me question everything about him. He didnt even try to talk to her about what was going on with his ex and the baby. Did not give her a chance to be ok with it or process it just tossed her aside cause that’ll obviously fix it and make it okay. Ugh this book frustrates the hell out of me. I have no intention of reading book two, in my mind they stay apart and she goes off to live her merry life as a police officer and finds new butterflies elsewhere with a hot criminal or something. Not him, he doesn’t deserve her.

Ugh my heart is destroyed!!! Meet Tess, she's in her final year of college and she's been struggling under the weight of a terrible tragedy from 4 years ago so she's kept to herself BUT she meets Jax and is like dang I need me some of that. SO she pushes herself to be more social, only to find that he is already with someone and thus off-limits. Jax is an extremely hot rockstar, math wiz, and all around good guy; he offers to help Tess get through a particularly hard math course and they become friends. Unfortunately, Jax is with literally the worst woman in the world, who he is unreasonably attached to. I actually really enjoyed how Jax's toxic relationship was portrayed and how hard it was for him to leave her, it felt wayy more realistic than a lot of romances where he would leave her pretty quick after meeting the main heroine. The angst and tension between Tess and Jax was off the charts, and while I did see some of the big twists coming from a mile away, it was still super enjoyable and I am DYING for the next book!! Please release it soon!!!
With its slow burn and intense college romance, My Butterflies was an emotional roller coaster that left you wanting more. I really liked Tessa and Jaxon, but I can't say the same about Jaxon's girlfriend, and you'll see why if you read the story. Tessa is closed off due to previous trauma. However, she believes it might be time to reopen herself after running into Jax, her neighbor's attractive stranger, in passing. However, things quickly become difficult. Despite his new love for someone else, Jax has his own issues, including a mean girlfriend he feels obligated to and past trauma. Though Jax and Tessa's interactions were realistic, there was a clear tension between them. I enjoy a good angsty story, and this one was no exception. It was heartbreaking to witness these characters struggle with their feelings for one another since B. Evans created such a deep and complex relationship between them. I liked how the author gave the characters time to fall in love with each other, which made their story more believable. The story ends on a cliffhanger, leaving me eagerly awaiting the next book to find out what happens.
**Thank you to NetGalley & Platinum Rose Publishing for access to this title in exchange for an honest review**
This book was great, I really enjoyed it, it was emotional and that ending wow can't wait for book number 2,
Okay well to be honest I did loved the book but I wasn't expecting that ending... Like Brooke seriously??? I won't spoiler, I did liked Tessa and Jax but there were some annoying parts but I understand why they are still growing up and they are a bit immature.. And yes the book has a lot to tell and both have backgrounds and fear.. Anyway I do hope they can find their way to each other on second book
I’m not a huge contemporary romance fan but this book had me hooked with all the drama it entailed.
I loved Tessa, she was a woman struck with grief but after locking eyes with one man, her whole world exploded in color. It was beautiful to watch her come out of her shell and start living again.
I have a very complicated relationship with Jaxon… like I love his character I really do. I understand his struggle and what he is going through with Brooke (which I absolutely cannot stand her grrrrr) but I just wanted him to find happiness. And I feel like he wouldn’t allow himself to have that and that was hard to read because I relate to that so much.
Overall I did like the book and look forward to the next installment.
Wow what an emotional rollercoaster. Going to be anxiously waiting on book two after that cliffhanger. I absolutely devoured this novel! Can’t wait for the next one!
My Butterflies was such an emotional roller-coaster ride type of a story, and it is not a short read, but I devoured it in one day. This slow burn and intense college romance story will have you wanting more at the end of the story. I absolutely enjoyed Tessa and Jaxon, although I can't say the same for Jaxon's girlfriend and if you read this story, you'll find out why. I enjoyed the way the author gave the characters time to really fall in love with each other as it made their story more believable, and their connection was undeniable. I also enjoyed both the sports and music aspect of the story. Jaxon definitely expressed his feeling through his music and there was no denying it. I love every minute of it. This story ends with a cliffhanger that left me desperate for the next book to find out what happens next. This book/series will definitely not be my last from this author.
OMG!! This book had me in a chokehold. I could not put it down. This book made me want to go through discovering love all over again. It brought me back to the first time I got butterflies. I can't wait for the second book to be released, because I already know that the next one will pull me in just the same. I received an advanced copy, I did not pay for the book.
We got dual POVs. We got forced proximity. We got unrequited love. We got a little bit of sports. We got a little bit of music. In all, I guess we got a little bit of everything. And I was not disappointed.
Tessa is closed off because of past trauma. But when she meets her neighbor's hot friend, Jax, in passing, she decides it might be time to open herself up again. But things get real complicated real fast. He has a girlfriend, which isn't an issue until she learns she also has class with him and he's her best chance at passing the class they share. Jax has problems of his own: past trauma and a mean girlfriend he feels indebted to regardless of his new feelings for someone else.
The feelings I felt while reading this book bordered on unhealthy. I finished it in one day because I could not get enough of the characters and their emotions. The tension between them was palpable, but their conversations were realistic. It wasn't written as some fairytale romance. Every aspect of it was realistic and heartbreaking in the best ways possible.
That ending got me though. I hate it with every fiber of my being and will be anxiously awaiting the second book to find out what happens to these poor souls. I almost through my kindle into the wall, but settled on screaming instead of property damage.
I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes college romances. Or sports romances. Or music romances. Or romances about hot MMCs with baggage to work through.
Oh My God!!
When I read the description for this book I thought it sounded amazing. But reading it far out reached my expectations.
Once I started I couldn’t stop. Tess and Jax as characters held so much depth and emotion, as I read each chapter, experienced the ups and downs of the relationship, it pulled me in as if I was experiencing it for myself.
The storyline is well paced and reads easily and the book was beautifully written. Though I’m sad that it’s the first book and I haven’t had closure of the relationship, I’m happy we will get the satisfaction of experiencing Tess and Jax in another book. Just please don’t make me wait to long!!
Overall I give this book 5 stars and look forward to all future books by the author.
This was 3.5 stars for me. I didn't hate it, but I also didn't love it. I did however finished it. Miscommunication and surprise pregnancy are just not my cup of tea. Most of the time I wanted to shake the characters and be like, "Just talk to each other! However, since this ended on a cliffhanger, I will be reading the second part of this book since I'm invested in their relationship.
If you are a fan of the After series, then you'll probably like this too.
I do love a new adult. My Butterflies was the latest book that I read. Enjoyed this book and I think most will.
Wowowowow! What a gorgeous book! First of all the cover is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. I loved the story of Jax and Tess and how they overcame their struggles to defy the odds and be together. This book has so many themes and I am beyond excited for the next installment
