Honestly I love David Hair and his style of writing seemingly blending real world cultures with fantasy novels and this does not disappoint.
The knights all draw power from certain nodes and use this against deformed citizens who have their own type of power.
This is classic good v evil fantasy but sometimes the lines get blurred and questions and suspicions arise. Excellent edge of the seat stuff.
Highly recommend!
