Sharon McCrumb is a true storyteller. Whether devouring her books, reading her Facebook posts, or listening to her at a book signing, I've found myself hanging on every word. She can give you shivers, make you laugh, and bring tears to your eyes all in the matter of a few pages. I'm rather new to her books but will certainly be investigating all of them.
I enjoy a nice cozy mystery and I love to cuddle up with a good Christmas story when the weather turns icy. This was the perfect pick for such an occasion. I especially appreciated her meticulous historical research--I learn so much abut the Appalachian people and their culture and am fascinated to learn more.
If you know Sharon McCrumb, this book will not disappoint. If you aren't yet familiar with Sharon's writing, this is a great place to start--and I suspect that though it may be your first, it won't be your last!
Sharon McCrumb has long been one of my favorite writers because she’s just so darned good at it. This Christmas tale is a good one, featuring one of my favorite characters of hers, Nora Bonesteel. It’s a wonderful Christmas story, rich and satisfying, with the characters perfectly developed. If I had one complaint it is that this is more of a novella than a novel. I could have used so much more.
