Hot Hex Boyfriend is about the Merriweather witches who were hexed, and only the blue witch could break the curse. Delia is a blue witch but she does not believe witches are real. There's also a handsome neighbor who does not want anyone to break the hex. I love the cover. I mean if I see a cat on the cover, I want to read the book. This is such a cute witchy romcom. I love the quirky aunts and the grandma. Max and Delia were lovely to read. This book has a dual narrator and both narrators did a fantastic job. I loved it and I pretty much listened in two days. If you're a fan of spicy witch stories, you should definitely add this to your tbr list. Thanks to Hachette Audio and Netgalley for the audio arc.

If you’re looking for an entertaining cozy witchy romcom, look no further than Hot Hex Boyfriend. Not only does Delia have the best eccentric family, but she’s surrounded by great friends too. To be honest, I’d love this book for the antics of Delia’s family alone and would gladly read a book based solely on that. I was also impressed with how well developed and thought out the intricacies of the magic system Bloom developed were. That’s something that would be easy to skip over in favor of the romance, but I love the attention that Bloom gave to the magic side of the story. Now that’s not to say that the romance wasn’t a delight because it certainly was. I love their back and forth banter as well as how Delia helped draw Max out of his shell. Also, I have to mention Nikki. He was by far one of my favorite characters in the entire book. I read this via audiobook and thoroughly enjoyed Laura Knight Keating and Zion Jang’s narration. They brought the cozy, campy vibes to peak fall perfection.

Thanks to Hachette Audio for the early copy of this book!
This is exactly what I look for in a witchy rom com. I was laughing out loud, cheering for Delia & Max, and falling in love with the town and side characters. The magic system was simple, but also well thought out and explained. This was just so ENJOYABLE, and a light & fun witchy read. This is a total winner! I loved the audio as narrated by Laura Knight Keating and Zion Jang.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the ARC
This would be the perfect romcom for October. It was fun and easy to read. It wasn't all that fast-paced, but allowed us to get to know the characters. Our MMC is stuck up when we're first introduced to him so it was great seeing him warm up to our FMC. I really liked our FMC and how clueless she was of her own magical power and the fact that she lives in a magical town. It was also fun seeing our MMC slowly realising her magical abilities and that she's the witch he was warned about. I enjoyed how their relationship evolved and all their banter.

It's tough to set yourself apart in a popular subgenre, but I think Carly Bloom has done well here. She made witchy romcoms feel at home in my beloved Texas Hill Country. As a fellow central Texan, I know these characters, their charm and their magic. The narrators both do well with distinctive and engaging voices, so listeners will enjoy this as well as those reading it on paper. A good book does not always translate to a good audiobook, if the readers don't capture the magic of the text, but I think Carly Bloom will actually find a new audience through the audiobook alone. Her cowboy romcoms were fun, but I'm pleased to see Carly flourish with witches.

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for providing me with an ALC for this novel.

This is the story of the Merriweather witches and the hex upon them that took away their magic. They are all such characters and all gave me good laughs. Max is the witch assigned to watch over the final days of the hex on the family of witches, before it becomes complete on the 30th birthday of the youngest witch. Well, uncanny stuff happens and… well… you’ve gotta read all the antics yourself!
There is a romance that brews between Delia (the youngest Merriweather witch) and Max. There are a few spicy scenes but nothing graphic. Just enough to add to the story!

This was a very cute and light witchy rom-com that I think it's going to be great for Halloween and fall time.
Thank you Netgalley and Hachette Audio for an ALC of Hot Hex Boyfriend in exchange of my honest opinion.

'A family that dwells together, spells together.'
Cordelia "Delia" Merriweather comes from a family of witches, well thats what they tell her. But they have been cursed so they don't have magic, so Delia doesn't believe the whole family witch thing. The curse is said to break on her 30th birthday which is about happen, but the arrival of Max Halifax may keep the Merriweathers cursed.
Max knows the Merriweathers are real witches cursed by his family & he must ensure the curse stays in place for all witches. But as he & Delia spend time together he starts to question the rules he grew up with & wonders what is so dangerous about the Merriweather women.
This was a sweet, cute, cozy, laugh out loud witchy romcom. One of those books you know you can curl up with a cuppa & you're going to have a good easy time. There were so many moments I couldn't hold the laughter in. I loved the sweetness of the slow build romance.
I listened to the audiobook, Laura Knight Keating & Zion Jang did an amazing job bringing the characters to life. Loved putting my headphones on & getting lost in this witchy world.
Thank you to Netgalley & Hachett Audio / Forever for the opportunity to listen to this.

This started out so cute and I was hooked. It lost me a little in the middle when we started finding out everyone in town are basically witches. The end was almost redemptive, except there were just some parts that didn't fully connect for me on the fantasy side. It was almost there, just missing a few things to fully explain it all. The spice was well done in this and I adored Nikki. So excited to kick off spooky season with this audio from NetGalley.

📚 I really loved this story. I'm a total sucker for witchy romances, even more when they're in a small witchy town, set in the modern day, and make the love interests neighbours (swoon). Max was so loving, Delia was so fun and flirty, and Nicky the demon cat was top tier. The plot was just continually unravelling from the first page to the end 🧶 I would read this again and again as a comfort read.
🎧 I will always love audiobooks, and this one was a great one. A bad narration style can kill the audioboook and the story so quickly..... but a set of great and versatile narrators can melt you right into each and every character as though you're living among them. This was a great quality audiobook.
🎙 Narrators - These actors that are doing romances at the moment are absolutely cookie crumb perfection to my ears 🤌
[Dual style - female does all her own chapters, male does his own. This is not a duet style, where they read all of their own respective genders dialogue. If it was a duet, it would have been 5 stars for audio, for sure.]
Overall, this audiobook was a fantastic dual audio, and exactly what I enjoy when listening to cosy romances 😘👌

This is a cute little witchy rom-com. I definitely giggled a few times. I do think I would have liked it more if I had read it instead of listened to the audiobook. I was not a fan of the narrators and their accents. But overall a fun read.

I have to read at least one witchy romcom when it starts getting close (or close in my heart) to fall and this definitely had all the traits that I usually look for in such books. There's a quaint small town, a large and chaotic family, a mysterious old house, witches from divided clans, and an ancient curse that must be lifted. Certainly nothing groundbreaking for the genre, but there is some interesting world-building and a fun twist in the middle. I also appreciated that Delia is an older heroine who has back issues (relatable). She's been struggling to find a career and is currently trying to make it as an interior decorator. Her claim to fame is that her family believes they are witches even though an old hex prevents them from using their magic. Max inherits a mansion full of magical antiquities from his uncle and moves back to Texas in order to get it sold and to keep an eye on Delia. Unbeknownst to her and her family, Max's ancestors placed the curse on Delia's ancestors and are responsible for making sure it doesn't get broken. Of course, while keeping an eye on her, Max begins to catch feelings and suspects Delia might return them...
Laura Knight Keating and Zion Jang do a great job with the duel narration. Audiobook is definitely the best way to experience this! I'll admit that sometimes the writing is a bit cheesy and/or clunky, but it's an enjoyable story if you're in the mood for a fun, witchy romcom. Hope that we get another book in this universe someday!

Spooky season is just around the corner and for fans of Erin Sterling come a new cute and bingeable witchy read!
This one was so fun to listen to and the narrators did an excellent job! It was a little bit of a slow start and I wanted more witchy antics earlier on; however the build up of the characters made it all the more entertaining when hexes and magic did actually come into play. There’s a bit of spice but not too much and lots of humour and whitty banter!
I highly recommend

Thank you to Netgalley and Forever for an Arc of the ebook and the audiobook

Meet the Merriweathers - family of witches with no magic. When Delilah accidentally breaks the hex on her family, she's shocked by the truth and that the handsome new guy next door's family cursed them in the first place! Is he really into her or just bewitched? Read to find out.
This is a cute witchy romance for Halloween time.
The audiobook was of good quality with the narrators switching POV for each chapter.

What a cute witchy romance!! Delia and her family were hexed decades ago, and therefore they have no magic (and no memory of it) but when Max moves into his uncle’s house next door, he falls for Delia, and somehow the spell is broken - but now the coven is going bananas and there’s a demon loose!
There is so much I didn’t actually understand about the magic system here, but it didn’t really matter 🤷🏼♀️ the vibes are on point and the romance was sweet but not the absolute central part of the story. Also, Texan witches are hilarious 😂

Thank you NetGalley and Hachette Audio for an ALC of Hot Hex Boyfriend in exchange of my honest opinion.
This was a very cute and light romcom with witches a a mystery that I think it's going to be great for Halloween and fall time, although the story itself has very low stakes and it was quite cheesy in some points. The narrators did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life and embodying the Texan/ southern accent specially for the older witches in the coven. I'm not a fan of whispers as a way to convey "secret messages", but the whispers enacted in this audiobook were still clear and I could understand perfectly even though I was listening in a busy area.
As someone that loves witches story in the fall I was happy to start my "gloomy reads" with a light book.

I listened to the arc through NetGalley and am so beyond grateful! I have been in a slump and this is exactly what I needed to help push me out of it. I have been on the hunt for a fun and cute witchy book and this delivered.
I felt so many different emotions while I was listening! Between happy, sad, and enraged; Carly Bloom did an amazing job at pulling those emotions out in me while I read.
I believe a lot of people can relate to this book because I remember being younger and playing out in nature pretending I was a witch so to read about a family who is this ascetic is adorable and I loved it.
I listened to this book and it was cute, I liked the people who narrated it however, the male narrator spoke quite at times and I would miss things and need to go back to hear and increase the volume to listen. Other than that though I did enjoy listening.
This book has:
🌑 Witches
🌑 Familiar
🌑 Hidden Identity

4.5 stars.
This was a cute story with two fun audiobook narrators. This is dual narration/dual POV. I received this for free as an advanced reader copy and I'm glad I gave this a try.
The hero is a socially awkward introvert (he blushes😊😳) who has grown up in a world where feelings and romance are considered wrong. He inherits his uncle's house and has come to sell everything and also spy on the neighbors, one of which just happens to be a cute and bubbly woman who might break a centuries-long curse against her family by his family.
This was adorable. Delia's family is loving and bumbling and the opposite of Max and his family who are more cold and rule-oriented. This was a light-hearted romance with some villains and conspiracies.
The romance progressed really well and, while both of them were "against romance" for very different reasons, the negative motivation didn't drive me crazy. When they fell in love, they fell in love. There is a third act breakup, but it didn't give me much angst.
Safety deets
- no OW/OM
- not much about their sexual histories other than both of them have been casual with their partners in the past.
- cute puppy 🐶
- We get to see them together in the end.
- Some mystery and twists that were intriguing... I would love to read more of this world.
I recommend. It's a cute one!

Hot Hex Boyfriend: A Spellbinding Good Time
Okay, so Hot Hex Boyfriend is basically magic. Like, actual magic, but also the book is super fun. Carly Bloom totally nailed it with this one. The story is like a witchy rom-com dream come true.
Delia and Max are this adorable, opposites-attract couple with amazing chemistry. And the whole hex mystery thing? It kept me guessing and totally hooked. Plus, Willow Root is the kind of small town you wish was real – full of quirky characters and just the right amount of weird.
If you're into witches, hot guys, and a sprinkle of magic, this book is a must-read. Trust me, you won't regret it!

This book was SO CUTE! I loved the relationship between characters and all of their little quirks. The main characters were all super likable and brought humor and fun to the book.
I actually got a copy of the audiobook and let me tell you, the narration by Laura Knight Keating and Zion Jang was so perfect. They did such a great job with really bringing the characters to life. I loved the accents they used and the switch between POVs.
