A very cute feel good, goofy romance. Max and Delia just hit it off and their banter and affection is very sweet. You also have a fab cast of supporting characters which made this book light hearted. Loved listening to this book as well. The male narrator had such a groovy voice. Loved the accents, the different characters all done well by both narrators.

This was a fun witchy romance with lots of mystery packed in. Trying to break a "curse" on her family, Delia makes a soup every year in good humor. But what she assumes is a joke is no funny matter for their neighbors nephew, Max.
Terrified of Delia breaking the curse, Max decides to keep a close eye on her, despite not wanting to be around her. But maybe he actually does...want to be around her? This is so strange. Logos witches don't love.
Delia is a character that you're meant to just love to pieces, and I truly did. She was fun, clumsy, and just took pure for this world. Watching Max realize that he likes her, maybe more than, was such a great and entertaining thing to read.

Soooo cute and cozy!! Brimming with small town charm, the most endearing side characters, and a cozy mystery, Hot Hex Magic was just the book to kick off pumpkin spice season! The full cast of chaotic and slightly unhinged family members were equal parts endearing and hilarious - think the Owens aunts from Practical Magic - and you bet your cauldron the Merriweather witches would be partaking in midnight margaritas.
While this story is romance, I really enjoyed how the mystery, hex, and town shenanigans were well balanced with the romance. Bloom so thoughtfully included conversations about grief, family, and tearing down traditions of oppression and prejudice alongside lighter moments of laughter.
The audiobook was SO FUN and I really loved how the narrators performed the scenes with all the Merriweathers - managing to give each character in this larger cast a distinctive voice. Such a delightful listening and reading experience!
If you are a 90s kid who was raised by Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Practical Magic, and reruns of Bewitched on Nick at Nite, this is a MUST for your fall, witchy TBR!

If you are looking for a witchy romcom to read this fall Hot Hex Boyfriend is a great choice! There are so many books where the heroine discovers she has powers but accidently uncursing her family is a new one for me! I loved how her grandmother and aunts fully believed they were witches even before the curse was broken and were the town eccentrics.
I also found the different witch powers really interesting and liked the different types of witches. The world building here was well done and I'm excited to learn more about the witchy society and see how it changes as a result of the developments in this book.
If you want a witchy romcom that will make you laugh while also having interesting magic and a bit of magical danger this is for you!
I listened to the audio version of this story Zion Jang and Laura Knight Keating did a great job with the narration. They were both new to me narrators who hadn't done a ton of romance before so I was glad to enjoy the narration.

It was cute!
I always struggle reading these types of books early because cute witchy books scream fall time to me so reading them when it is 80 degrees out is always odd.
Def a cute story though and I would like to reread it in the fall isntead

Hot Hex Boyfriend is such a cute fuzzy romance and the witchy vibes are perfect for fall.
Cordelia "Delia" Merriweather is part of a family of witches, but they've been cursed her whole life so they don't have magic. Max moves next door to the Merriweather's into his late uncle's house, under the guise of packing up the house, but secretly making sure the Merriweather's don't break the hex before Delia's 30th birthday.
This book is light and funny and just perfect fall vibes. I liked Delia's quirky family and Nikki the cat/familiar/imp was my favorite character. In ways this book reminded me of Practical Magic, but also old school Disney channel Halloween movies like Halloweentown High (the best one) and Twitches.
I really enjoyed listening on audiobook because the narrators did a great job with the humor and voicing many different characters, bringing them each to life. I will say the two narrators did have slightly different reading speeds, which made me want to change the listening speed every time the perspective changed, which wasn't ideal.
4 stars

Oh my gosh I need more! Not only was this cute & witchy, but it was so funny! The narrators really brought these characters to life & I absolutely loved the voices Laura used for the Merriweather women. I was in tears from laughing at times. I really think the audio adds to how amazing the story was. The plot was great. I didn’t feel like the story ever dragged. I loved every second of it.

Witchy, magical & rom-com. A great way to get ready for Autumn reading!
Thank you for the ALC!

As the leaves start to turn and the air gets a bit crisper, there's no better time to dive into a cozy, witchy romcom—and this book fits the bill perfectly. An adorable, lighthearted tale, it’s the ideal companion to kick off the spooky season with a blend of magic, romance, and a touch of mystery.
What sets this book apart from others I've read in this witchy romcom realm is that our MFC doesn't actually know that she is a witch. It add a fun spin to the usual narrative.
The story does move a bit slowly, but with the added air of mystery it works well -- just took me a bit of time to get really engaged. One of the strengths of this book is that it doesn’t overwhelm the reader with complicated magical lore. Instead, the author skillfully weaves in the magical elements without lengthy explanations, making it accessible even for those who are new to fantasy or witchy novels. Cozy and enjoyable, it’s an excellent choice for anyone in the mood for a lighthearted fall romance. Whether you’re a seasoned reader of witchy tales or just looking for a charming, magical escape, this book is sure to leave you with a smile on your face.

Thank you so much to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for an early copy in exchange for an honest review!
Hot Hex Boyfriend is the perfect cozy, magical read to help you ring in the Fall! With witches, chaotic yet lovable families, and general delight, I found myself smiling my way through about 99% of this book.
The mystery around the hex, the lovable chaos of Delia's family, Max's general broodiness that is only broken by said Delia... it was just a great blend, and I was immersed from start to finish. Honestly, it felt like the Disney movie 'Halloweentown' but for adults, and I mean that as the highest praise possible.
Releasing in September, this is one that you must all look out for!
Also, Max's narration? Delicious.
Gods, I love audiobooks.

This was delightful.
Good mix of humor and drama. The MCs family is hilarious with their constant bickering and crazy antics. Grandma is sassy and doesn't care about being the weird old lady. Some of the best parts of the book are when they are having family dinners or events all together. There's a family debate on why women wear training bras that made me spit out my coffee 🤣
Being set in Texas, I was expecting the overdone southern accent, but the narrators did pretty well. It's not a perfect Texas accent, but acceptable.
It's a slow burn for the love story and the mystery parts of the book. The magic system was well thought out and didn't require pages and pages of explanation. This makes it a good read for those new to fantasty or witchy novels.
The steamy scenes were limited and kept pretty much PG13. Yet, still giving you enough to remind you that these are grown-up characters.
It's odd for me to say this, but this was a bit longer than necessary. Personally, I love the extra hours, but I can see my book club members feeling like the story was longer than necessary. For example, after the big reveal about the Mayweathers, there were still 4 hours left in the book. Basically, the first half is falling in love, and the second half focuses more on the origin story of the mystery hex on the family.
I live that there was no unnecessary drama between the main love interest due to poor communication. There was drama, but it was handled quickly.
There are three things that I didn't care for:
1. Why make the Merryweathers unaware of the magical world? A hexed witch is still a witch. They just can't use their powers. It would have brought more drama and emotion if they were aware of magic, watching it happen all around them but unable to participate. Plus, why wouldn't they have moved away by now? It's been generations.
2. I didn't care for the big reveal of the bad guy. Why not have the bad guy be a witch? It would have brought to the forefront that "fancy" Witches are no better than the average Hedge Witch. Both can do good and bad things. Yet this ending made something else the bad guy, which may continue the idea of Witches being superior to other supernaturals and that certain Witches are better than others.
Note to publisher: With audiobooks, when you have both a male and female narrator, there is no need to have one person read everything in one chapter. Instead, have the male read for all the male characters and the females read for the female characters. That way, the characters always have the same voice no matter which point of view of the chapter is being read from. It also feels like a real conversation.
The narrators, Laura Knight Keating and Zion Jang, did well. I especially love the voice work for Grandma Merryweather and "Cousin Nicky."
Thanks to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for an advanced copy.

delia's family of aunts/grandma all think they're a coven of witches and that she's a special blue witch (born on a blue moon), but she just plays along, not believing any of it. when their next door neighbor passes away and his nephew comes to handle his estate and antique store, delia crosses paths with max, not knowing that HE is aware of the hex his family put on delia's family. like his uncle, he's keeping an eye on delia to make sure she doesn't break the hex before she turns 30... and tbh, i never really understood why the hex mattered or why it was such a big deal she didn't break it? the magic of this world wasn't established enough for me to feel fully invested, and while there were fun moments and quirky characters, i didn't really vibe with this one!

this witchy romance was cozy and overall enjoyable - a good choice for anyone looking for a lighthearted fall romance! a few things that kept me from giving it 4 stars: it was a bit corny at times and the romance felt rushed. i would have liked less characters & more time/tension put into the relationship.
thank you to netgalley and hachette audio for the advance audio in exchange for my honest review. i enjoyed the voice actors and felt that the audio was good quality.

This is lighthearted, witchy, and fun.
It's also slow-moving- but the characters are a delight and it is a great spooky season read.

This was so much fun & the witchy romance I didn't know I needed! I loved Delia & her family and how truly they believed they were witches. The town's people were fantastic as were the MCs.
Lucien and Max (and their fam) trying to fit in in the human world was hilarious.
There's a lot of quirky things that took place throughout the book but that's part of what hooked me and while it's a romance there's so much more going on!

I read the book and listened to the audiobook of Hot Hex Boyfriend. I loved the story but actually preferred reading the book to listening in this case. First of all, I adored the Merriweather women! They all have such fun personalities and I would love to spend a day with them. Throw cold and logical Max into the mix and you have a perfect combination of grumpy/sunshine with a magical twist. This was an enjoyable read and is a perfect addition to a spooky season TBR!

This is a great book if you want a light, easy, rom-com. There were several one-liners that literally made me laugh out loud. The cat/person Nicki was one of my favorite characters, he was so funny. It did seem very familiar, then it dawned on me...It has the same vibe as the TV show The Good Witch. I did get a little bored during some parts and would have liked a little more action.
I did enjoy the narrators as there was one for females and males.

Delia Merriweather and her family have always been rumored to be witches, but that is just hogwash. She has left behind childhood fantasies in favor of a more grounded reality. Delia has dabbled in various careers and has decided to start an interior design business. Then she runs into Max, the next-door neighbor who "owns" an antique store. The tension between them is either because Max is helping Delia or because Max is inadvertently complicating her life. Their relationship is a blend of misunderstanding, humor, and undeniable chemistry. A seemingly harmless accident restores the long-dormant powers of the Merriweather women; Delia's true identity, which she had long since dismissed as mere folklore, is turned on its head.
The book is a charming blend of magical realism and romantic comedy. The story balances the whimsical aspects of magic with Delia's personal growth, making her an endearing character whose struggles and triumphs are easy to root for. You can't help but love her and all her chaotic and genuine emotions. Max's rigid demeanor quickly bends to Delia's bubbly and sweet southern personality. Who doesn't love it when opposites attract?
It's about discovering who you are, embracing your quirks, and finding love in unexpected places. Whether you're a fan of witchy romantic comedies or just looking for a feel-good read, this book will cast its spell on you.
I received an ARC audiobook for my honest review. Thank you, NetGalley and Hachette Audio, Forever.

This book is a good time. A family of women has always believed that they are witches and everyone has always told them that they were crazy. Guess what, they are witches who have been hexed but if our FMC breaks the hex she will kill the MMC. It is quite the condrone. Its got fun witchy vibes, silly hijinks with her aunts and a sweet blossoming romance. Overall a run read.
The audiobook narration was also done well.

This definitely brought the spooky and cute vibes! I’m so ready for the Fall season to come and would recommend this book to those who read and loved The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling. I felt as if it’s a fast paced cute read, despite it being a tiny bit corny, but that’s okay!
The black cat is the main character if we are being honest ;)
Willowroot, Texas sounds like such a sweet community and I want to visit. Loved the sense of a strong woman forward family full of love and laughter. I think I’m over due for some southern hospitality.
I listened to the audiobook. The music at the beginning and ending of the book set the magical mood. I wouldn’t have mind if there were underlining music playing during some scenes to further enhance the immersive feel. I didn’t love the audio when it was on the default speed (1.0x). It just felt so drawn out and slow. However when it’s on like 1.25x it was good. The accents for the women were decent. I can definitely see a book 2 coming out following the mmc’s brother or fmc’s friends!
Thank you Hachette Audio for providing this audiobook for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
