Top three most hilarious books I've read this year!!!!
The Merriweather women have no magic, but believe they're witches. Little do they know they ARE witches. This is reminiscent of the Witchlore series, in that both have characters blissfully unaware they're surrounded by magic in a town full of witches.
This book was an absolute delight. The characters were full of humor, and just downright Southern loveable. The relationship dynamics between the Merriweather women, was so loving and fun! The romantic relationship was sweet and spicy.
I enjoyed the dual male amd female narrators. Both did a great job, but the woman, with her southern accent, inflections and timing, really made this even better. This is 5 stars for me, and I am soooo hoping this will be a series, because I want so much more Merriweather women!!
Thank you so much to Netgalley, Hackette Audio, and Carly Bloom for providing this ARC.

This was a cute, witchy read! I enjoyed the audiobook and thought the narrators did a great job. I know Carly Bloom for her cowboy romances, so I was excited to see something different from her! Nothing puts you in the mood for fall, like a witchy book. I enjoyed the world building and quirky characters, especially Nikki the imp.
Delia and Max were easy characters to love. Their slow burn romance was sweet. I loved how their romance brought their whole families together. I’d love to see a sequel with Max’s brother!
If you’re looking for a cute, witchy book full of quirky, lovable characters, then I recommend grabbing this book!

Generally, this was a cute and cozy witchy book. A really light read. With the audio, the MMC narrator was enjoyable but the FMC always sounded like she was trying to sell toy something. I appreciated the accents but it was so unnatural.

This was my first book by the author and it was a fun magic/paranormal read. The side characters were entertaining while still helping advance the storyline/plot. I love a good sunshine vs. grumpy dynamic, which we got between Delia (a blue witch without magic) and Max (who comes from an "elite" magic family). I especially appreciated and enjoyed the theme of communal support/power to resolve the conflict facing witches in the shadowlands.
I received a free copy of the audiobook (ALC) and was pleased by the vocal work of narrators Laura Knight Keating and Zion Jang. The southern twag helped ground the book and story TX (admittedly I am not a Southerner and cannot distinguish regional differences, I found the accent a fun addition to the characters).
Thanks to Net Galley and Carly Bloom for the ALC.

A couple of "firsts" for me! I typically prefer to read via Kindle or paperback, but I decided to apply to listen to Hot Hex Boyfriend as an audiobook via NetGalley instead. It was also my first time reading a witches/paranormal/magic book. It is the PERFECT Fall/Halloween romance read!
The Merriweather family was hexed so they can't do magic and Delia happens to be the Blue Witch that is supposed to break the hex. Max comes to town to help settle his uncle's estate and is also on a mission to keep an eye on the Merriweathers.
The Narrators were Laura Knight Keating as Delia and Zion Jang as Max and their voices were perfect for the roles! Hot Hex Boyfriend was hilarious and enchanting. I loved it so much that I'll be buying a physical copy.
Thank you NetGalley, author Carly Bloom, and Forever publisher for sending this as an audiobook for me to review.

3.5 ⭐ 1 🌶️ 3.5 🎧
While I really loved the last 10% of this book, I felt like it was entirely too long... The beginning really dragged a lot and I found myself losing interest and getting distracted easily. That being said, the ending made it absolutely worth the listen and if you love cozy, kinda spicy paranormal romance, this may be just the book for you.
The audio was really good, I thought Zion Jang and Laura Knight Keating did a wonderful job narrating this story and bringing these characters to life.

About the book 👇🏽
As a child, Delia Merriweather believed with all her heart that she was a witch. Because all Merriweather women were witches. There was just one problem: they had no magic. As an adult, Delia no longer believes magic even exists. However, when she accidentally breaks a hex and restores her family’s powers, she’s forced to accept a new reality: she is a witch. And maybe that’s why the crushingly handsome guy next door has been looking at her like he’s expecting her to fly off on a broomstick, cackling into the night.
✨ My thoughts:
Such a fun witchy rom com! It’s an easy and light read/listen that is sure to get you excited for witchy season. I enjoyed the story very much! I got all the cozy magical vibes I love. It’s cute, funny, quirky… what’s not to love?! I liked the narrators and thought they did a great job bringing this story to life. I’d definitely recommend the audiobook version. I am so happy I was able to listen to this story early. It has amped up my excitement for fall! (not that I needed anymore hype) Hot Hex Boyfriend is out September 3, 2024! Get ready for the magic 🪄
Happy Reading 📖 ✨

I really really enjoyed this cozy witchy read! The Merriweathers were an absolute riot and I found their antics to be absolutely delightful. Delia is a strong and really relatable character. It was nice to see her come out of her shell more and more as the story went on. All of the characters in this book lend a special something to the movement of the plot. I really liked Max and found his demeanor while off putting at first was just a defense mechanism. Once he started opening up he quickly became the leading man we needed. I also appreciated the magic system and a new take on witches and power distribution. All in all this is the perfect witchy romcom for this fall! I also loved the narrators and appreciated how seamlessly they brought the story to life.

In a word, adorable!
What I loved about this book: every single supporting character! And I mean, every single one of them. Even though characters that are “the villains” They are written so well. And, there was a surprise twist to the villain that I did not see coming, which I very much appreciated.
Note to the Author: some of these characters deserve their own book… You know who I’m talking about!

Are you on the hunt for a witchy 🧙♀️, cute 💕, and heartwarming rom-com? Look no further—Hot Hex Boyfriend is the book for you!
Delia lives in a loving and supportive family, a quirky bunch composed of her mother, grandmother, and two aunts. Though she adores them, Delia knows they’re a bit...unconventional. Her grandmother and aunts are convinced they descend from a long line of witches cursed to be unable to access their magic. 🧹✨ Fully aware of the absurdity, Delia indulges them, embracing their eccentricities with love.
When their neighbor passes away, his estranged nephew, Max, arrives to handle the estate. Max, however, is no ordinary newcomer—he’s a witch, fully aware of the magical world, and tasked with ensuring that Delia’s family remains hexed. To do this, he decides to keep a close eye on Delia, making sure she doesn’t break the curse before her 30th birthday. But as he gets to know Delia—funny, sweet, and undeniably beautiful—Max begins to suspect that this hex might not be what it seems. ❤️🔥
Hot Hex Boyfriend is a refreshing read, brimming with delightful characters, especially Delia’s family, Luke, and Nikki. They’re all so loving and hilarious! 😄 Max makes for the perfect book boyfriend, while Delia shines as a true ray of sunshine. ☀️ The plot is simple yet engaging, hooking me from the very first chapter. 📖
A big thank you to Hachette Audio for this beautiful ALC. 🎧 Zion Jang’s voice was perfect for Max, and Laura Knight Keating truly brought sunny Delia to life. I loved every moment! 🎉

Hot Hex Boyfriend is the perfect fall audiobook! I absolutely loved it! It was cozy and witchy and perfect!

What an absolutely adorable, feel good little book this was! If you miss the feeling you got watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch then this is the book for you. The narration was also fantastic. It was very very slow burn but honestly I was less interested in the romance and more interested in the fun small town and family dynamics. I actually think if anything, the romance let it down a little.
This is the perfect wholesome, funny, magical read with a cast of characters you will totally fall in love with. I think I would have given it the full five stars if I was rating it only on the vibes and the narration.
I would recommend it if you want a super sweet, very funny book with a cast of small town characters that will make you giggle and a good dash of witchy vibes.

Five Witchy Stars
Delia Merriweather's family is...crazy..they think they're witches. For a long time Delia believed they were actually all witches but with one small problem, no magic. Not any more. Now she thinks they're just silly and eccentric. Each Blue Moon her family gets together to make the "soup" recipe from the "magic" book that showed up on their doorstep one day. It never works but since they refuse to boil a baby they're not surprised. Until this blue moon when Delia somehow manages to break the curse! Now her, recently passed away, neighbor's nephew Max is struggling to help the women reign in their magic and learn to manage it.
I really enjoyed this book! I laughed and cried and then was SO FREAKING HAPPY at the end! Delia and Max had great chemistry, Nikki was my absolute FAVORITE side character. Laura and Zion NAILED the narration of this story, I would definitely listen to more books narrated by them.
Thank you to NetGalley, Hachette Audio, and the author for the opportunity to listen to and review this story in exchange for an honest review.

{Audiobook review} ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5, 2/5🌶️
Ooo I liked this one! A fun, heartwarming, spicy, small town witch romance.. what's not to like? 🥹 Just in time for Halloween!
Fell in love with Max & Delia's blossoming relationship! The magical side characters including Max's brother and of course the wonderful inherited familiar - with a British accent.. yes!! That was a great touch.😍
The Merriweather family are true Texans through & through! Although I'm British, I absolutely loved listening to all the quirks of their personalities & how much love they all shared for Delia.
Delia's best friend - her sense of humor was fabulous! Unfiltered and real, she was another favorite! We've always got to have a sceptic!
Overall, it was a short & quick audiobook which I flew through. It was super cosy & everytime I picked my headphones up to listen, I knew it was going to be easygoing & enchanting.
Although there were a few heated moments (spice!) - I thought the pace was perfect and well balanced. The spicy scenes were very well written and not too much! I felt like they were experiencing true love. I also liked that the MMC Max was a gentleman and didn't want to hurt Delia's feelings throughout getting to know one another.
Recommending to all those who love a cosy witch romance that's simple & magical. 🪄
Carly's word building was straightforward and nothing complex - another bonus! Not all romantasy books need to be hard work & unpredictable.
Now.. take me to Willow Root! ✨
Thank you Carly & Forever/NetGalley for allowing me to listen to this whimsical audiobook!

I had so much fun reading this! The world building was so fun that I wanted to finish the book and dive into the town. The restaurants and town were everything I wanted them to be. I would love to see more of California in future books, but only for a quick visit and then I want to come back. I loved that we got to fall in love with whole families, but still got to see so much from our main characters. There were quite a few laugh out loud moments. My only complaint is that now I want more. I would love to see a book for Luc and also one for Amy. Honestly, it's hard for me to decide if I would prefer to follow our two main characters more or hear from others though. Bottom line is that I want more. Fantastic book if you are looking for an easy to fall into fantasy romance. And because I like to know, I would give it a 1.5 spicy rating.
A few months later I decided to give the audio version of this book a try. This is my preferred way to consume books, so I knew I wanted to revisit this story. I loved that there was a male and female narrator. They did an excellent job and I was able to immerse myself in the story in a way I hadn't been able to the first time. Definitely an audiobook winner!

This is a cute and fun witchy romance with a bit of found family. It was pretty good and the characters were likeable.
The story was funny, cheesy and had a very cozy autumn vibe, but still had a pretty dramatic and interesting ending.
I can definitely recommend this for the autumn, if you are looking for a witchy rom-com similar to The Ex Hex.
The audiobook is very good and I loved that it switched narrators for the two different POVs. The narrators were really great and even though one of the narrators used a southern accent, it was still very easy to understand.

This was a fun little witchy romance. I'm ready for fall vibes and this was a great way to jump into the season. This will be a perfect fall book!
It was definitely a little cheesy and corny, but I think that's to expected with a story like this. As long as you go in knowing it's going to a silly little story you'll enjoy it.
Delia's family was so funny. I loved their dynamic and how much they dove into the witchy family history despite not knowing the truth. my favorite Halifax was Niki haha.
I'd compare this story to the vibes of the first HalloweenTown movie.
I liked the male narrator more than the woman, but it wasn't a deal breaker.

*♡Thank you to Netgalley and Carly Bloom for the Arc of this audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion♡*
A fun and spicy witchy read, perfect for Halloween!
Laura Knight-Keating and Zion Jang are great at the narration, although it did take me a while to get used to Zion's female character voice 😂
I loved the chemistry between the two main characters, Delia and Max. Opposites definitely attract in this instance! The warm, cosy Texan dynamic of Delia's famaily is fun to read, and Nicky the imp/human/cat familiar is a great sarcastic comic relief!
Would definitely recommend this is book if you are looking for a cute, fantasy rom com in time for the autumn season ❤️🎃

Sometimes the characters are just the best part.
This was a cute storyline with really enjoyable main characters. I really loved their romance story and the spice that came with it.
This is a cutest fall Rom-Com with some magical vibes.
Delia's family has always said they were hexed witches and Delia just never believed it however she is in for a wild surprise.
Enter Max, the hunky neighbor who has a secret of his own.
I didn't know if the Paranormal Romance would capture my interest, and I was pleasantly surprised.
I listened to the audio book from Hachette Audio and thoroughly enjoyed Laura Knight Keating and Zion Jang. Both narrators captured the personalities of the characters perfectly.
Thank you, Hachette Audio, Carly Bloom, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Dalia Merriweather has grown up with an eccentric family that firmly believes they are witches despite never showing any magical powers. They are convinced Dalia is a blue witch that will help return magic to them. Little does Dalia know that they do actually live in a magical world and their family was hexed and their powers were removed. The handsome new neighbor Max was sent by the magical authorities to keep an eye out on this family. They are drawn together when she accidentally breaks the hex.
I had such a good time with this with this cozy witchy romcom. It is laugh out loud funny. Delia and Max have great chemistry. I loved her family and friends. I'm hoping that this will be a series because I would love to have more stories set in this world. The magic system was really interesting. I really enjoyed the audiobook narration by Laura Knight Keating and Zion Jang.
