Book 212 of 300 ~ 2024
🌟🌟🌟🌟
Holy moly. 805 kilometres from Canada to the Bronx. With only her daddy driving, Nikki's excitement keeps her awake and her daddy company as he ploughs through the drive as the solo driver.
Having made a wrong turn, the little heroine becomes his navigator, leading them back on track to her grandmother.
Such beautiful, vivid illustrations and a story that had you rooting for the family to reach their destination. Lovely story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is an enjoyable story but, if this story is intended to take place in the eighties - as indicated by the atlas and the afterword - travelers would not have required a passport to cross from Canada to the United States.
This is the perfect read aloud that reminds us how the simple things in life leave behind the most wonderful memories. Temika Groom's illustrations are beautiful and bring Hohn's story to life.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher.
I liked this sweet story about a family going on a trip to their grandma's house. The young girl was cute and smart.
This book is about a car trip in 1984 for a family between Toronto and Bronx, New York. One member of the family is a very avid map reader and loves following along and requests daddy let her help. This book is a snapshot in time of a memory. It makes the entire story work.
This is a delightful picture book about a girl staying awake while her father drives the family from Toronto to the Bronx in New York. She loves maps, and enjoys telling her father where to turn when they get closer, and which exit to take.
It is a long drive, and she loves every moment of it.
The author said she based this on the time her family had to do the same drive, and how she remembers helping her dad navigate through the streets and freeway exits.
This is a great story to show how before GPS, people used to use map books to get around in areas where they weren’t familiar. I still remember using Thomas guides, when we went driving around Los Angeles.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review. This book is coming out on the 1st of October 2024.
