I've read quite a few domestic thriller books that focus on one neighborhood, and You Deserve to Know by Aggie Blum Thompson is near the top. This tightly knit thriller circles around and around, to where the reader doesn't know who is the true narrator, who is the real 'bad guy', and who...are these people?

Aimee, Gwen and Lisa all live within throwing distance of each other. Lisa and Aimee were super close, in fact, along with their husbands, they had a nickname "SLAM". Then Gwen and her family moved in. Aimee and Gwen instantly clicked and Lisa stewed in anger in secret. She wanted Aimee all to herself. Aimee was her 'Favorite Person' after all.

One night, at another BBQ with all three families, Gwen's husband Anton corners Aimee and tells her "you deserve to know"... What that is....is a great mystery, as the next morning, Anton is found dead outside of their local bar.
---

The story expands, between the now and the recent past. We see the secrets each family has, the problems with their children and larger family circles, and how each woman can hide their true feelings. This is a real "nobody's perfect" sort of mystery....and then it ends with a HUGE twist, and that took it over the top for me.

I hope this turns into a huge hit, then into a TV show....because OH MY GOD.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Talk about a twisted book However, I am not complaining at all! This was a fast, fun, single sitting read that I could not get enough of. This was one heck of a read with so many unexpected twists and turns. I was on the edge of my seat with this book and I’m still thinking of the ending, which I didn’t see coming at all. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The plot was very well developed and so were the characters..

Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the advanced readers copy.

What a messy cul de sac the couples ended up living on! What starts with one husband being murdered turns into a complete meltdown of relationships and friendships. There were some fun and unexpected twists thrown in throughout the book, and make sure you stick around for the doozy of an epilogue!

Aggie Blum Thompson brings the suspense - I turned the pages as quick as I could to get to the bottom of this murder mystery!

Gwen, Aimee, and Lisa and their respective husbands spend most weekends together. They all have small children and live in a cul de sac. But when Gwen's husband is murdered no one know what to think. Everyone has a secret that they are willing to do anything to keep.

Blum Thompson is at her best and fleshes out the characters and the tensions between family members.
I dare you to try and NOT finish this engrossing domestic thriller in one sitting.

Ah, another day, another fair-to-middling thriller under my belt. Except no belt because it’s just turned noon and I’m still wearing my nightgown! It’s good times when you are retired and are living life as a leech on society!

Gwen, Aimee and Lisa are neighbors in their East Bethesda neighborhood and are also the closest of friends (kinda). They share everything, vacations, their secrets, the perils of motherhood and all they go through.

Then Gwen’s husband Anton is found murdered after the group’s regular Friday night dinner and their tight friendships begin to shatter as jealousies and suspicion arise as secrets are revealed about the women and their husbands.

So, the book is written as autofiction in that the “author” “recounts life in a fictionalized manner” and is part of the story. Actually I forgot all about this until the very end, so I wasn’t exactly chomping at the bit to figure out the secret.

Everyone one of these people has problems. I’m not sure why they are friends at all. And in some ways I feel like the author (the real author, not the “author” demonized Lisa a bit. Three way best friendships are hard to pull off (except for Betsy, Tacy and Tib….see that wonderful series for examples), one often feels left out. I can’t really fault her for that. For some other things, oh, yes, definitely, but I get that.

I figured out a lot of the twists fairly early and some of the prose was a bit overwrought for me. I don’t know, maybe I’m too judgmental. Oh, well.

An enjoyable murder mystery with plenty of tension, twists, and turns in a what seems like the perfect suburban neighborhood. Three couples gather each Friday night for dinner and drinks. The title is from a puzzling line said by one husband to another man's wife as he leaves one of their get-togethers, "You deserve to know." Themes include infidelity, deceit, and toxic friendship. Highly recommended for fans of domestic thrillers. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

This is my first book by this author but it won't be my last! Books about family friends and what goes on behind closed doors are my fav! Fans of Lianne Moriarty & Ashley Audrain (1 of my all time fav authors) will not be disappointed with this juicy book! Having attended American University (where Anton was a professor) & babysitting in Bethesda, MD made this book even more personal and relatable too me. I loved the authors writing style from the first page and enjoyed getting to know each of the characters, particularly Gwenn, Anton, Scott, Lisa & Aimee. #slam #slamminggoodtime I highly recommend this book, already told my AU college roommate to request on netgalley! I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Aggie Blum Thompson created a book that has so many twists and turns that you can't put it down. Three friends on the bock socialize together, vacation together, and their kids have played for years. Aimee, Lisa, and Gwen all have their own secrets, and they are hoping to discover the answers behind the lies.

One of the husbands is found dead after a dinner gathering the three couples shared.

You Deserve To Know by Aggie Blum Thompson is a tense, page-turning twisty domestic thriller in the best way possible. Anton, Gwen's husband, whispered to Aimee, just before he headed home that night, "You Deserve to Know."

Will they find the answers? Will their friendships survive? This book will keep you up reading into the night.

Thank you to NetGalley and Tor Publishing Group for a digital ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

If you're looking for a twisty-turny suspense novel, this is your read! A lovely set-up on a cul de sac, with three families all intertwined and all with back stories of their own. Don't start reading it late at night or you'll end up staying up all night since this one is a hard one to put down even when you're pretty sure where it was going. I was totally immersed, so I'd call that a win.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. It's a great representation of the genre!

You Deserve To Know by Aggie Blum Thompson is a tense, page-turning twisty domestic thriller in the best way possible.

Neighborhood friends Aimee, Lisa and Gwen all know how busy life gets with work, husbands and raising young children. Every Friday night they all converge on one of their homes for dinner. The three couples get to relax with a few drinks while their kids play together. While leaving one Friday night after dinner, Gwen’s husband Anton whispers in Aimee’s ear “you deserve to know.” Everything changes the next day when the police show up at Gwen’s house to tell her that Anton had been found dead in the alley behind their local hangout. What was once a close friendship between the three women spirals into a toxic web of lies, disloyalty, jealousy and infidelity.

Perfect for anyone who enjoys to be on the edge of their seat and having to force yourself to stop reading because you realize it’s the middle of the night and everyone else has gone to bed.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Tor Publishing Group for this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was overall a really enjoyable and intriguing read! I liked that it was multiple points of view so you got more of what was going on in the story. The ending was....different. Not sure that I loved it since it felt like it came out of nowhere, but it worked.

I'm weak for stories about people behaving badly, especially upper middle class to upper class people. There's something so satisfying about it, and this books has it in spades. You know from the beginning that Anton was murdered- but by who? And why? That's the major question, but there are other, serious questions to be answered, as well. Where is Scott? And why did he disappear the night he planned to tell his wife, Amy, all that he had gotten tangled up in? Just when you think you have all the answers, the last chapter throws everything off, completely changing everything you just read. This was a really fun, well-written, well-thought-out book, and I really enjoyed it. I'm excited to see what Aggie Blum Thompson writes next.

Thank you to NetGalley and Tor Publishing Group for providing this book, with my honest review below.

How great was You Deserve to Know? Trust me, you need to read it and find out for yourself. A thriller that focuses on the mysteries in an affluent neighborhood, this had at least three to four different plot lines that intrigued and worked together. But the best part was really the end, the literal final pages, and I encourage anyone who loves a strong twist to devour this book to enjoy the feeling of wanting to read it all again to see if you can pick up on any clues.

You Deserve to Know follows three neighbors an and friends. Aimee, Lisa, and Gwen as they navigate their friendships (and frenemyships) through the suspected murder of Gwen’s husband while Aimee’s own husband is clearly hiding something from her. Did the two men get caught up in a conspiracy? Who could have murdered Gwen’s husband, Anton, and why would they do it? Will Lisa kill Gwen before anyone can find out?

All these questions and more are answered in this delightful book which will appeal to fans of the genre!
