In Treacherous: Grifters, Ruffians and Killers, we get a collection of very different short stories. They have one thing in common: Someone gets killed, played or betrayed. Maybe even the protagonists?
The author created many very different believable, dark characters. Their inner monologues, sometimes justifying their acts, sometimes plotting, sometimes being completely lost in crime, were entertaining to read and added to the stories. I also appreciated some of the little twists!
I must admit that some stories were way too sexual for my tastes. I sometimes didn't quite get why we needed the graphic sex scenes in a 30 page story, but that's just personal preference.
Overall an interesting collection of crime stories!
