This was my first time reading a book by Megan Collins, and it definitely won’t be my last. Wow, I went through a rollercoaster of emotions while reading this. Here we are following Rosie Lachlan, who works at a bridal shop owned by her parents. All Rosie wants is to find her one true love. After she undergoes a heart transplant, she ends up connecting with a man, named Morgan Thorne, on a platform called DonorConnect, and she believes that she has his late wife’s heart. After chatting with him, she also believes that he’s the one. However, things start to shift when Rosie comes across rumors that Morgan could’ve been responsible for his wife’s death. There were so many points in this book where I thought I knew exactly what was going on. I even felt frustrated at one point because I thought I figured something out. Turns out that I was completely wrong 🤣, and that’s what made this a great thriller. It kept me guessing the entire time, and I highly recommend it!

Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher (Atria Books) for the advanced copy.

Holy cow, this book gave me whiplash in the best possible way! Every single time I thought I knew what was going on and where the story was going, I was thrown completely off. I audibly gasped "WHAT?!?" at one point, I was so flabbergasted with the turns the story was taking. This was definitely a top thriller for me and I finished it in less than a day, I just couldn't put it down! The premise alone was such an interesting one and then as the story developed, it just kept getting more and more interesting. It's very hard to explain the book without giving away major plot points, so just trust me on this 😂 (There's also plenty of Taylor Swift references and a few Friends references, if you're into that.) I highly recommend this one, if you're a thriller lover like me!

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I see what you did there. You took a typical messy, unreliable narrator and gave her a coke/fentanyl/ecstacy cocktail. DIDN'T YOU!?

Well, wow! I always see books described as "twisty", then after reading them wonder what everyone else thought was so dang "twisty" about them.... all that to say that THIS, right here, is what sets the twisty mold! A somewhat unreliable narrator - one who at times I had immense sympathy for, and at other times wanted to shake; a huge "Wait, what???" moment halfway through, that will make you question everything you just read; an unexpected murder; and several people who aren't who they claim to be. If those aren't "twisty" enough for you, I don't know what is. This is the first book in a little while that I genuinely had no idea what was going to happen next, and I ate that up! I didn't see the last 20% coming at all, but felt it was a clever way to wrap things up. It's amazing what wild, and yes, "crazy", things that we do as women, just to avoid the "crazy" label. While I don't know if I would have done a few of the things Rosie did, I understand fully how she got to those places and things in the first place. Sometimes something small, like a list of things you know about something can turn into something so much bigger, scarier. I think we have all done something others see as insane in an attempt to revive a dying relationship.... at least, I hope Rosie and I aren't the only ones! All tha to say that Rosie was a character I could relate to and root for; I wanted her and her transplanted heart to come out on top. This is, in my opinion, Megan Collins' best book, and although I think it will sell itself, I know I'll be doing my best to sell it, as well.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and author for allowing me the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book so I could provide my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Thank you Netgalley and Megan Collins for this e-ARC.

This book threw me for a loop. I thought I knew what was happening, then all of a sudden, I was completely confused. In a good way.

Megan put so many twists and confusing scenarios in this book, I didn't know what was up or down.

Every time I thought I knew the plot, I was wrong, and the story went a different, surprising way.

Every time I thought I knew who the villain was, I was proven wrong. That is the best kind of book, one which you think you have figured out, but you actually don't. As you read, it all starts to make sense, but you never make the correct guesses.

This is a good one!

Omg I finished this in a day and a half! So many twists and turns I was questioning everything that was happening. And I legit forgot about my laundry! Do not miss this one next year! It's going to make all the top lists for sure!

I was drawn in by the synopsis and completely captivated by the dedication. A Taylor Swift reference to my absolute favorite TTPD song? Absolutely- I’m in.

The story follows Rosie who had a heart transplant and Morgan, whose wife is the reason she has a new heart. Rosie and Morgan communicate via anonymous emails through the donor site while Rosie forces their paths to cross. The narrator is obsessive, unreliable as hell, and captivating despite it all. I did find the pacing incredibly slow for majority of the book but it picked up around 70% for me. I also really liked Nina as a supporting character. Overall, it was a breezy read and I am excited to check out more books by this author!

Thank you so much to Atria Books, Megan Collins, and Netgalley for an advance copy of the book for my honest thoughts.

This book was a wild ride. I found myself feeling sorry for some of the characters because their issues run so deep. The story was suspenseful and I could hardly put the book down. I found the ending to be satisfying. Great story! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC!

Ok Megan Collins - keep dazzling me with your unreliable characters and messy plot lines that leave me guessing nonstop about who is good and who isn’t. I’m fine with having mini anxiety attacks throughout your books like it’s nbd.

A heart transplant recipient reaches out to the husband of her donor anonymously through the match program and begins a conversation that soon turns flirtatious. Except it’s not really anonymous because she knows he’s a famous writer and that she got his wife’s heart based on the timeline of the woman’s death. As their messages get deeper and deeper - she is drawn to him and pictures herself with him, a dangerous game seeing that many people believe it was he who killed his wife, not an accident.

Infatuation. Obsession. Murder.

Except who is the real author of this twisted narrative? The actual writer? The love struck girl with a new heart? Or someone much more involved than anyone could guess?

3.5 stars out of 5

I thought this was a pretty good read. I loved the character development even though the narrator was pretty unreliable but it works for the book. I found the pacing to be a little slow in the beginning but it really picked up towards the 50% mark. I loved the twists and turns and found the ending reveal to be perfect. Overall, a solid thriller.

In Cross My Heart, we meet Rosie. A year earlier she received a heart transplant that saved her life. She thinks her donor is the famous home town writers wife, Daphne. She begins to anonymously connect with the husband, Morgan, through a service called DonorConnect. She begins to really feel a connection to Morgan even though she never met him. Rosie then asks friends that knew Daphne and Morgan if Daphne's death was really an accident. Rosie tries to get to the bottom of it and puts herself in danger along the way.

4.5 stars-I remember there is a movie with Marissa Tomei and Christian Slater where Slater’s wife dies and Tomei gets her heart and then they fall in love (and of course break up when he finds out it was his wife’s heart yada yada yada.) I didn’t read much of the blurb but got offered an arc so here we go.

I LOVED this book. Sure the blurb sounds good, but it ends up being way more dark than I was expecting in all the good ways! I don’t want to say much more in terms of plot. I will say this is best read in a short time frame because there are a number of characters that you need to keep straight. I read this last weekend and finished up this weekend. I wish I would have stayed up an hour later to finish so that I wasn’t playing catch up. Thank you to the publisher! This was a great read!

This was the first book I have read by this author, and I was not disappointed! I will definitely be checking more of her works out. There were so many twists and turns in this story. Unpredictable.. I came to a conclusion on what could happen only for it to be destroyed a few chapters later.. in a good way!

I thoroughly enjoyed this read from Netgalley. This was my first read by this author. It truly kept me wondering which character was crazy. I feel like Rosie was relatable in a way and who doesn’t find themselves being “crazy in love” at times. Worth the read!

I am always in awe of the way Megan Collins writes a story. I devour every single book I read of hers.
Rosie is a heart transplant survivor, working at her parent’s bridal shop and going through a broken engagement. She decides to reach out to her donor’s husband and begins emailing with him, thus forming a relationship with him.
Morgan is a famous author, writing thriller books, who lost his wife in an accident and is he potentially also her killer?
Through their ongoing email relationship Rosie begins to feel connected to him and one thing about Rosie is that she can be a bit obsessive when she’s falling for someone- copying their hobbies, changing herself to fit what the other person wants. So when she digs deeper and deeper into this connection she feels with Morgan and learns more about him and his late wife, Daphne, she might be in more trouble than she bargained for like finding herself in the middle of a murder investigation.
This was SO GOOD- couldn’t put it down good. The twists were sending me through the roof, the ending was shocking, but also somehow satisfying.
And the Taylor Swift references definitely were an added bonus in my book ✨

After Rosie is on the receiving end of a heart transplant. She becomes obsessed with the husband of the women’s heart that she received. Can her new heart handle all the “crazy” it will be put through? This one had me hooked! This was a great thriller that kept me guessing the whole time!!
And if you are a Swifty there are at least 11 mentions of her 🫣
Thank you NetGalley for the arc!!

This was a fantastic read! I loved the story, plot, and characters. I’m even more thrilled that it was a story about about organ donation and transplantation at the heart (see what I did there?) Thanks for shining a light on this incredible work! I was made even better by being well written, twisty, and I barely knew who the killer was! I had an inkling but no definitive answer. I love reading stories that I don’t know whodunnit. Strong writing and great characters. Definitely recommend!

Rosie Lachlan receives a heart transplant from famous author Morgan Thorne's wife, Daphne. A year later, she reaches out anonymously to Morgan through an email portal for donor recipients and donor families. They form a rapport through their emails and Rosie begins to think that her and Morgan could be a perfect match. After all, her heart (Daphne's heart) loved him before... But after seeing online comments about suspicion surrounding Morgan's wife's death, Rosie starts to wonder if everything Morgan writes Rosie about his relationship with Daphne is true. He couldn't have murdered her, right?

I don't want to give anything else away, but there is way more to the story. I really enjoyed it and found myself being surprised at times. While I don't always love an unreliable narrator, I thought this was done really well. I loved all the Taylor Swift references! I did feel like it dragged at times and thought the story could have been accomplished in fewer pages, but overall it was a good read. Also, that ending!
