the pacing was phenomenal, it had me guessing left and right where and who was the bad guy here. there were quite a few parts that got me good but the ending of part one completely got my ass i audibly gasped not expecting it 😂

i had such a good time reading this, i first started it last night and then got 48% in before i just could not keep my eyes open anymore then immediately after opening my eyes at 9 am i grabbed my kindle to keep going LOL this was everything i was hoping it would be and more!!! i absolutely cannot wait to read more of Megans work.

Ok Megan Collins - keep dazzling me with your unreliable characters and messy plot lines that leave me guessing nonstop about who is good and who isn’t. I’m fine with having mini anxiety attacks throughout your books like it’s nbd.

A heart transplant recipient reaches out to the husband of her donor anonymously through the match program and begins a conversation that soon turns flirtatious. Except it’s not really anonymous because she knows he’s a famous writer and that she got his wife’s heart based on the timeline of the woman’s death. As their messages get deeper and deeper - she is drawn to him and pictures herself with him, a dangerous game seeing that many people believe it was he who killed his wife, not an accident.

Infatuation. Obsession. Murder.

Except who is the real author of this twisted narrative? The actual writer? The love struck girl with a new heart? Or someone much more involved than anyone could guess?

3.5 stars out of 5

I thought this was a pretty good read. I loved the character development even though the narrator was pretty unreliable but it works for the book. I found the pacing to be a little slow in the beginning but it really picked up towards the 50% mark. I loved the twists and turns and found the ending reveal to be perfect. Overall, a solid thriller.

In Cross My Heart, we meet Rosie. A year earlier she received a heart transplant that saved her life. She thinks her donor is the famous home town writers wife, Daphne. She begins to anonymously connect with the husband, Morgan, through a service called DonorConnect. She begins to really feel a connection to Morgan even though she never met him. Rosie then asks friends that knew Daphne and Morgan if Daphne's death was really an accident. Rosie tries to get to the bottom of it and puts herself in danger along the way.

Thank you Netgalley and Atria Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 stars-I remember there is a movie with Marissa Tomei and Christian Slater where Slater’s wife dies and Tomei gets her heart and then they fall in love (and of course break up when he finds out it was his wife’s heart yada yada yada.) I didn’t read much of the blurb but got offered an arc so here we go.

I LOVED this book. Sure the blurb sounds good, but it ends up being way more dark than I was expecting in all the good ways! I don’t want to say much more in terms of plot. I will say this is best read in a short time frame because there are a number of characters that you need to keep straight. I read this last weekend and finished up this weekend. I wish I would have stayed up an hour later to finish so that I wasn’t playing catch up. Thank you to the publisher! This was a great read!

This was the first book I have read by this author, and I was not disappointed! I will definitely be checking more of her works out. There were so many twists and turns in this story. Unpredictable.. I came to a conclusion on what could happen only for it to be destroyed a few chapters later.. in a good way!

4.5 ⭐️
I thoroughly enjoyed this read from Netgalley. This was my first read by this author. It truly kept me wondering which character was crazy. I feel like Rosie was relatable in a way and who doesn’t find themselves being “crazy in love” at times. Worth the read!

I am always in awe of the way Megan Collins writes a story. I devour every single book I read of hers.
Rosie is a heart transplant survivor, working at her parent’s bridal shop and going through a broken engagement. She decides to reach out to her donor’s husband and begins emailing with him, thus forming a relationship with him.
Morgan is a famous author, writing thriller books, who lost his wife in an accident and is he potentially also her killer?
Through their ongoing email relationship Rosie begins to feel connected to him and one thing about Rosie is that she can be a bit obsessive when she’s falling for someone- copying their hobbies, changing herself to fit what the other person wants. So when she digs deeper and deeper into this connection she feels with Morgan and learns more about him and his late wife, Daphne, she might be in more trouble than she bargained for like finding herself in the middle of a murder investigation.
This was SO GOOD- couldn’t put it down good. The twists were sending me through the roof, the ending was shocking, but also somehow satisfying.
And the Taylor Swift references definitely were an added bonus in my book ✨

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria books for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!!

After Rosie is on the receiving end of a heart transplant. She becomes obsessed with the husband of the women’s heart that she received. Can her new heart handle all the “crazy” it will be put through? This one had me hooked! This was a great thriller that kept me guessing the whole time!!
And if you are a Swifty there are at least 11 mentions of her 🫣
Thank you NetGalley for the arc!!

Thank you netgalley for the ARC of the book. I enjoyed the story and the character development. I was engaged from the very beginning. As a fan of horror/thrillers, I loved this story. The mystery and intrigue was there and I found myself staying up late to finish chapters. This is a book that's great for the fall season.

This was a fantastic read! I loved the story, plot, and characters. I’m even more thrilled that it was a story about about organ donation and transplantation at the heart (see what I did there?) Thanks for shining a light on this incredible work! I was made even better by being well written, twisty, and I barely knew who the killer was! I had an inkling but no definitive answer. I love reading stories that I don’t know whodunnit. Strong writing and great characters. Definitely recommend!

Rosie Lachlan receives a heart transplant from famous author Morgan Thorne's wife, Daphne. A year later, she reaches out anonymously to Morgan through an email portal for donor recipients and donor families. They form a rapport through their emails and Rosie begins to think that her and Morgan could be a perfect match. After all, her heart (Daphne's heart) loved him before... But after seeing online comments about suspicion surrounding Morgan's wife's death, Rosie starts to wonder if everything Morgan writes Rosie about his relationship with Daphne is true. He couldn't have murdered her, right?

I don't want to give anything else away, but there is way more to the story. I really enjoyed it and found myself being surprised at times. While I don't always love an unreliable narrator, I thought this was done really well. I loved all the Taylor Swift references! I did feel like it dragged at times and thought the story could have been accomplished in fewer pages, but overall it was a good read. Also, that ending!

Cross My Heart by Megan Collins is a gripping new thriller with a captivating premise. Rosie, who has just received Daphne’s heart in a transplant, finds herself inexplicably drawn to Daphne’s husband. As she gets closer, she begins to suspect he might have been involved in his wife’s death. But is Rosie even a reliable narrator? She, too, has a questionable history.

The book is fast-paced and packed with twists that will keep readers on edge. As a fan of Collins’ previous work, I was excited to receive an advanced copy. While I found the twist a bit predictable, which led me to rate it 3 stars, I still think it’s a solid read. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoyed her earlier novels.

I am still struggling to write this review without giving anything away. I was instantly drawn to Rosie Lachlan. While she needed surgery and a new heart, I had emergency open heart surgery to replace a valve in November 2022.
She however has a donor’s heart and is drawn to the husband of the woman whose heart saved her life. Not in a let me bake you cookies and say thank you way though. Rosie may have also found her soulmate. After all, she has Morgan’s wife’s heart…..
I was sure this was going in one direction and the author pulled the rug out from under me. Holy cray cray and what is going on! I will say no more except I left a comment on the author’s page, which sums my reading experience up perfectly. Get your hands on this thriller! Beg the publisher or get thee to NetGalley!

Rosie Lachlan has a broken heart. Also a donated heart! She works at a bridal salon and dreams of the day that she will be a happy bride all the while taking the important drugs that ensure her donated heart thrives in her body. The plot kicks in when Rosie spies the local famous author Morgan Thornber in her coffeeshop. She has wanted to reach out to him because it was his late wive's heart that saved her life. She takes the step via the donor portal to remain anonymous and begins dreaming of the relationship they might have if they meet in person.

The story comes to ahead when Morgan is murdered and Rosie is a suspect. It's complicated and ingenious and you will have to read it to find the twists. Get swept away in the latest domestic thriller sure to steal your heart!

This book was gripping and hard to put down. It didn't feel like everything else you see out there, it felt very fresh. I really enjoyed this book!

I'm sorry, but when the almost 40 year old MMC compared Taylor Swift to Sylvia Plath...this book fully lost me. I just cannot bring myself to read the rest. Not for me, and that's okay! The plot still seems super fun and spooky.

This was an interesting book. The main character, Rosie, has recently had a heart transplant. She makes a connection with the donor's husband through the anonymous Donor site. Rosie 's best friend Nina is a nurse a figures our whose heart Rosie received. Rosie has a tendency to 'stalk" any man that shows any interest in her. There are several other characters that Rosie meets that make this whole story come to a surprising ending!
