Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for an ARC copy of Witness 8 by Steve Cavanagh. I absolutely have loved the Eddie Flynn series, but this one wasn't my favorite. It was still good, and action packed. I wanted more Eddie, especially in the courtroom. I won't give up on the series though!

This series has me in a chokehold!!! Steve please never stop writing! I was so grateful to receive this arc and be immense into this world again and it didn’t disappoint!

After loving Kill for Me Kill for You, I was excited to dive into Witness 8—and it absolutely delivered. This was my first Eddie Flynn, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was quickly pulled in by story. I didn't feel like I needed to read the previous books to understand this one. The plot kept me guessing, with plenty of sharp dialogue, suspense, and clever reveals. Cavanagh knows how to build tension and keep the pages turning.
Ruby Johnson is a troubled young woman with questionable morals and Eddie Flynn is an interesting lawyer with a knack for getting into hot water and this one keeps him in deep! It was an edge of your seat courtroom thriller! Will be reading more from Eddie in the future!
4 stars.

This is a gripping and intense legal thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The story follows Eddie Flynn as he takes on a seemingly impossible case involving a plane crash and a mysterious witness. Cavanagh’s writing is sharp, fast-paced, and filled with clever twists that continually surprise the reader. The complex characters and tight plot keep the tension high from start to finish.

I really enjoyed this book. I usually do not like lawyer and courtroom themed books but this one is not your normal courtroom style. It is very well written and holds your attention. I would want Eddie to be my lawyer!

This one was all over the place for me, a somewhat unpopular opinion. I hadn’t read any Eddie Flynn books. Maybe if I had started from the beginning of the series I would have enjoyed this one more. I struggled to connect with Eddie because of his grey life choices. I did like that Eddie represented the underdog and I will be trying another Eddie Flynn book.
Thank you NetGalley, Atria Books and Simon & Schuster Audio for my copies of this book.

Witness 8 is a well-paced psychological / legal thriller packed with duplicity and drama!
Nanny and maid to the rich, Ruby Johnson witnesses a murder on her walk home from work one night. But when she calls the police, she lies about what she saw. Now an innocent man is on trial, and it’s up to con-man-turned-defense-attorney Eddie Flynn to unravel the truth before it’s too late.
Ruby simultaneously fascinated me and creeped me out. And Eddie continually impressed me! He reminded me of a less-cringey Saul from Breaking Bad, always with a clever (semi-legal) trick up his sleeve. The rest of the cast is equally compelling, all well-fleshed out and brimming with personality. This multi-POV thriller is well plotted, clever as all hell, and impossible to put down.
Witness 8 is the eighth book in the Eddie Flynn series, and while I was hesitant to read it before the previous seven, it reads perfectly fine as a standalone (but that doesn't mean I'm not eager to read the others in this series 🔥).

I LOVED reading Kill for Me, Kill for You from this author last summer, and I was so excited to get an advanced copy of Witness 8 - thank you to Atria and NetGalley for access in exchange for my honest opinion. Sadly, pub day came and went but I forgot about it :(
Luckily, I remembered recently and was able to take out a library loan for the audiobook. This is another fast paced thriller that I breezed through. It’s the eighth in a series for main character Eddie Flynn, but it’s interesting that it is the first of the series to be published/released in the US. I’ve heard that there may be spoilers for some of the earlier books but I don’t know if that is true (other than the obvious that if Eddie had previously been in any near-death situations, he is alive and kicking butt in book 8!).
Set in NYC with a ton of characters and POVs, this is a book that needs to be read in a short period of time or else the reader would likely be confused. As if unreliable narrators aren’t confusing enough! I enjoyed the audiobook, and I will definitely be picking up more of Cavanagh’s books. And if you haven’t read Kill for Me, Kill for You, PLEASE check that one out!

Steve Cavanagh has a way of putting you right inside the lives of his characters, trapping you in their world, holding on for dear life. The upper sides of NYC didn’t see this FMC coming! Outstanding.

I absolutely love anything that Steve Cavanagh writes and I adore this series so much. Eddie Flynn is arguably one of the most fun characters to read, with his mix of street justice and playing by the rules, while always being in just a little bit of trouble.
I love that every book is intense and suspenseful and will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. You are never every bored when you are in this series, and you are forever guessing at how Eddie can possibly extract himself from the very complicated situations he finds himself in.
I loved. it. And I cannot wait to see what is next.

I loved Kill For Me, Kill For You so I had HIGH expectations for this book. To say I was bored is an understatement. I’m very sad to say this but I was not pulled to the book like I wanted to be. It’s a soft DNF for me so I will try to get back to it.

This book started off strong for me, but I found myself skimming a lot as it went on. It was interesting and twisty overall though. I was able to follow it easily enough despite the fact that I haven't read the previous books in the series. I probably would've appreciated the story more if I had. That said, this book was interesting enough that I'm at least considering checking out the others.
I read an ARC of this book from NetGalley. All comments are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria books for the advanced e-book. All opinions are my own.
Steve Cavanagh is quickly becoming one of my new favorite authors. While Eddie Flynn walks the line between good and bad regularly, he does morally gray in the best possible way. After Th1rt3en, this book had very big shoes to fill and for the most part, it lived up to it.
Nine points of view definitely was not an experience that I would like to repeat. I found the story as a whole to be a little confusing as we bounced back and forth between so many characters and subplots. The courtroom scenes were somewhat scaled back compared to other books in this series which was a little disappointing.
It was still a typical Steve Cavanagh book and Eddie Flynn will always be a beloved character. It wasn't my favorite in the series but it was still worth a read and I look forward to what comes next.

A slick legal thriller that blends courtroom drama with psychological suspense. Mr. Christmas added a twisted layer to the chaos. A great addition to the series.
Many thanks to Atria and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

While Flynn makes a move to unleash the truth, he soon learns that those from his past have put out a hit on him. Cavanagh delivers a great addition to this series with this legal thriller.
Read if you like:
▪️legal series
▪️unreliable narrators
▪️psychological thrillers
▪️police procedurals
▪️interesting characters
▪️multiple storylines and POVs

All the tough guy buzz words! Con man! Murder! Affairs! Money! Strip club! Cool assassins! Marlon Brando! I got a little lost with all the characters but any time that Ruby or Mr. Christmas was mentioned I was zoned in! Overall I liked the story and the narrator did a great job. It wrapped up a little too neatly, I felt but would definitely recommend.

While I've read another Steve Cavanaugh book, I'm a newbie to the Eddie Flynn series. And after finishing this one, I may just have to go back and read from the beginning to get the full picture. I already love Eddie's slyness and quick thinking as well as his gang of misfit friends. It's obvious Mr. Cavanagh can pen a good suspense novel with a unique plot. But I did get a bit hung up on the amount of characters and numerous pov's finding it confusing at times. Granted, I read this while I had a lot going on so I was probably easily distracted. I still found it entertaining and will likely indulge in the series now. My thanks to Atria Books for providing a review copy via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

There were way too many characters and plots in this book. With a few having zero character development or adding to the story. Bring back when it was all about Eddie Flynn. I like this series, but this book was a flop for me. If you are new to the series, this could never be a random pick-up read.

I honestly did not realize that this book was part of a series until after I already started it. It is the 8th book in the Eddie Flynn Series. I do not feel like reading it out of order made a difference to the storyline.
Ruby Johnson used to live in a rich elite neighborhood in Manhattan until her father abandoned her and her mother. Now her mother is sick, they are living in a bad neighborhood and she is working as a maid and Nanny in her old neighborhood. She witnesses a murder. Eddie Flynn, ex con man, is the lawyer that is defending the individual accused of the murder. And it is not an easy job!
I enjoyed this book a lot. I loved most of the characters, even the ones that I didn’t seem to like. This is a riveting criminal thriller with lots of twists. The chapters were short, the villains were plenty, and the book kept me engaged, guessing what was coming up next. Thank you to NetGalley Atria Books and the author for the opportunity to read this book. My opinions are honest and my own!

Steve Cavanagh can do no wrong for me and has become an auto buy/read author to me. I have not read the entire Eddie Flynn series yet, but I am obsessed and am making my way through them. Eddie is a lovable character and I enjoyed reading about how he tricks corrupt police officers into admitting wrongdoing in court in this book specifically. I also loved reading about Ruby and enjoyed her POV more than the other characters and the ending - *chef’s kiss*. Even Mr. Christmas has become someone I loved in this story, even given his profession. I loved this book and gave it 4.25 stars, only because the beginning (other than Ruby’s POV) dragged a little for me and it gets a bit repetitive that Eddie is constantly talking about being an ex-conman. Other than that, this book was perfect.
