Witness 8 was a mix of action, courtroom drama, and a dose of dark humour. The characters were so unique and well-developed that you really became involved in each of their stories. What was most enjoyable was the author’s use of alternating characters in every chapter. This really lent well to the entertainment of the novel and allowed each character to have their own spotlight. I was hooked right up to the end. Excellent read.

Having an apparently innocent man charged with murder and his lawyer trying to find a way to defend him when the evidence is overwhelmingly stacked against the defense would be enough of a compelling story. But then add in the lawyer being targeted by a corrupt organization looking for revenge, a young woman adept at deflecting attention from her schemes, a hit man with an interesting moral code, a gangster falling in love with a legal secretary, and several other intriguing characters/storylines, and you have a novel that is incredibly thrilling from start to finish.

Oh yeah, then this book lands a haymaker of a twist near the end that sends you reeling while also tying up all the loose ends in a neat little bow. It’s fantastically executed from concept to final product. A non-stop white-knuckle journey to the truth. Once again highlighting Steve Cavanagh’s world-class storytelling and character development abilities through the continuation of this tremendously fun and exhilarating series.

I love Steve Cavanagh book and for sure, the Eddie Flynn series. They never disappoint and this book was excellent. The way it unfolded and the way he has Eddie Flynn and team unravel the story for the case was just terrific. I'm hooked for life on Steve Cavanagh and anything he writes.

This book was so good. It opens with Eddie in court being Eddie- we also have Ruby who is a horrible person in her own right. The book goes back and forth between Eddie and a few other people that have their own agendas. The who-done it was pretty easy to figure out but still the book kept me intrigued and turning the pages to see what would happen next. I enjoyed my time in Eddies world with this one, gave it 4 stars and would recommend it to friends.

I didn't realize this was a series so I was a bit lost on how the main character and his support staff and friends related to each other.

Still, I was able to follow the plot and easily determine Eddy is not your typical lawyer.

Who doesn't love an underdog?

When Eddy is asked to represent an innocent man in a strange murder case, he is intrigued and soon realizes it's more complicated then he imagined.

But with the help of his very competent staff and friends, naturally, he figures out what is going on.

It also helps to have friends in low places.

I found some of the twists unable to suspend disbelief for, not surprisingly in a series like this, but it's easy to like Eddy and his great friends and staff.

The writing style flows and there's genuine sincerity when the author describes the bond Eddy and his friends have.

I may read the first book to see how the series began.

What a fun read!! This was my first book by this author, and I really wasn't sure of what to expect. The story itself was carefully thought out and well written. The character development was good and brought the characters to life. There were some humorous parts, which were actually funny, and brought even more enjoyment to the book. I will definitely be reading more books by this author. I recommend this book to everyone.

When I want to read a five-star book, I reach for Steve Cavanagh.

Chosen family. Manipulative psychopaths. An innocent man set up for a crime he didn't commit. More psychopaths. Dirty cops. Eddie Flynn, a con man turned lawyer, has a lot on his plate, and that's BEFORE a hit is taken out on his life.

This is my first Eddie Flynn book. I didn't know picking this up that it was the 8th in a series. It's written so sharply, so superbly that it stands alone as one of the best thrillers/mystery that I've ever read. Cavanagh has an otherworldly way of creating twists on top of twists, of peppering dark topics with humor and has created a cast of characters, of chosen family so damned strong together they practically create a wall between them and the rest of the world.

The last scene with Harry in the hospital made me laugh instantaneously loudly and start bawling crying at the same exact time. That is a very impressive first for me. Very.

I am immediately going to grab the first book of this series and start at the beginning.

Witness 8 is fast paced and thrilling, leaving you hungry to keep reading. I'm a huge fan of main character, Eddie Flynn, and look forward to going back to read some of his previous work. After Kill for Me, Kill for You last year I knew this had to be at the top of my list. Thank you Netgalley and Atria for the advanced copy of this book.

Simply put this was not for me. I like Eddie he was the only character I enjoyed in this. Everyone else was kind of insufferable.

I have heard from others not to start the Eddie Flynn series with this book and I really wish I would have listened.

I will definitely try another one in his series to see if it’s any better for me

Lincoln Lawyer vibes the whole time. And I mean that in the best possible way (although respectfully, I know these authors and writers are different and deserve their own praise, it’s just if you like Lincoln Lawyer, you’ll love this). So many twists and turns. So many plots, narratives, and perspectives. This story kept me plugged in the whole time. I could hardly put it down! But a girls gotta sleep.

Eddie is an ex-con man turned lawyer who is working a case where John Jackson was falsely accused and framed for the murder of his neighbor. Then some hit men get involved and it’s just great. Soooo good. Although this is Eddie Flynn #8 book (you see how Cavanagh did that - Witness 8 on book #8… sly dog), I read as a stand alone and never once felt lost.

I enjoyed this entertaining and exciting psychological thriller by Steve Cavanagh. I’d read some of the books in the series but I believe this could be read also as a stand alone. It was a suspenseful mystery with a great cast of characters!

I loved Kill for Me Kill for You so I was excited for another book by Cavanagh. I’m sad to say this one was a miss for me. While it’s part of a series, I didn’t think coming in on the eighth installment was the issue. The problem I found was the book was too slow for me and the twists and fast pace from Kill for Me… that I loved wasn’t here in this one.

Okay, this book was a lot. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but it was a lot to keep track of. There are a lot of different points of view, and a few different storylines happening all at the same time. I had to get out a notepad and start taking notes, which isn’t always my favorite. It did take until the very end for me to finally understand how everything worked together, but then it was great. I do wish that the reveal and coming together would have been sooner because I feel like it took away from my enjoyment of the book. This is one of those books that you would probably benefit from reading the series in order because then you would have more of the characters back story. It wasn’t impossible not to know, just would have been better. Some of the plot lines were really interesting and that is why I kept reading. They really kept me going and I needed to find out what happened.

If you’re looking for a fast-paced thriller that will keep you guessing, then check this one out.

This is the latest book in the Eddie Flynn series. They can be read as standalones, but I recommend reading in order because some characters have back stories. I love Eddie Flynn and Steve Cavangh! I hope Cavangh keeps this series going for a very long time.

Witness 8 was such a fantastic read! This was my first Eddy Flynn book, and I’m already planning to check out the rest of the series. Eddy is everything I love in a protagonist—he’s incredibly smart, quick-witted, and has this charm that makes him so relatable. Honestly, it’s refreshing to see a male main character written with that much personality.

Bloch was another standout. I loved her so much—every scene with her was a win. The book was also super easy to follow, even with all the jumping between perspectives. The pacing was perfect, and the way all the different threads came together at the end was so satisfying. Nothing was drawn out unnecessarily, and the story wrapped up beautifully. The only thing you’re left with is a perfectly placed cliffhanger that works so well—it doesn’t leave any big questions hanging but keeps you thinking. And let’s talk about Witness 8 for a second—unhinged, unpredictable, and so unsettling. They added a whole new layer of tension that kept me hooked.

Another thing I loved is how much this felt like watching a crime TV show. It’s gripping, suspenseful, and plays out in a way that’s super visual and easy to picture, which makes it such a fun read.

If I had to nitpick, some of the language Ruby uses toward the kids she nannies bugged me. It felt unnecessary and didn’t really add to her character, but honestly, that’s the only thing I can think of that didn’t work for me.

This is such a well-crafted, gripping thriller with incredible characters and a tight plot. Fans of books like The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly or The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson will feel right at home with this one. I’d recommend it to anyone who loves courtroom drama or dark psychological thrillers. Add it to your TBR for when it's released!

This was an intriguing read, especially since it was my first Eddie Flynn novel. I found it enjoyable, but it wasn’t an easy read and was confusing at times. I commend Cavanagh for managing so many moving parts and tying up all loose ends. However, since there were multiple storylines happening simultaneously, I felt like it took away from the main plot. It felt overwhelming at times, and some of the minor characters had different names, making it difficult to keep track of who was who. Overall, I can see this book being confusing for some readers while being enjoyable for others.
