This is the first Eddie Flynn book I have read by Steve Cavanagh, and it caught my attention from the first chapter. Witness 8 is twisty and fast-paced. I’ve gone ahead and purchased the earlier books in this series because I’m hooked! Thank you NetGalley and to the publishers for the opportunity to read Witness 8. I will be recommending this to others!

Eddie the Fly is back! Along with Kate, Bloch, Harry and Lake and I am there for every single second of it! I gobbled this up like Thanksgiving dinner.
In this installment we are introduced to Ruby who is every kind of crazy and Mr. Christmas who is aptly named because this dude has ice flowing through his veins. It is my fervent prayer we get more of both in future books.
This time Eddie and company defend a surgeon who is framed for a murder by his nanny...all of this unfolds in the prologue but the cat and mouse games Cavanagh is so well known for are where it's at in this one.
Ohhhhhh....there's also a hit out on Eddie this time, so yeah.
Thank you to the publisher for gifting me a copy!! It felt like (Mr.) Christmas Day!! All opinions are my own!

This is a fabulous story! Things are not always what they seem and Eddie and his team do a great job turning every rock, and even spreading the dirt when needed, in order to right a wrong. Now, there is a backstory as compelling and interesting as the murder, and by the time we learn the entire story, we’ve been through a lot with our friends. The Author does a brilliant job in providing the facts and information to allow maximum buildup that keeps you in your seat from start to finish.
While not sorry I had the opportunity to read this book now, it’s going to make the time until publication seem like an eternity!
My thanks to Atria publishing via NetGalley for the download of this book for review purposes.

This is the First Eddie Flynn book I have read by Steve Cavanagh, and it does not disappoint. I will definitely be reading the previous books in this series. However, this book can be read as a stand-alone. It is fast-paced and made me want to keep reading. Thank you Netgalley for the Arc. I will be buying copies for our libraries.

Let me say, Steve Cavanagh is a must-read for all of his books! If you haven't read anything yet, start NOW! I always love Eddie Flynn's continuing story, and this does not disappoint. The book is a quick read, different points of view, and a whopper of a story. 5 stars, and keep the books coming!

"Witness 8" begins as a straightforward murder case in Manhattan but soon transforms into a complicated web of intrigue, manipulation, and secret agendas. The narrative offers a multitude of viewpoints, which can be a bit much at times, and I often found myself wanting to reconnect with Eddie. This book was truly a thrilling experience! I wasn't aware it was part of a series when I got the ARC, but it can definitely be enjoyed independently. With so many surprising twists, I’m looking forward to diving into the other books in the series!
Thank You NetGalley and Atria Books for allowing me to read this ARC.

Ruby Johnson is a former resident of the Manhattan upper class neighborhood where she is now the maid, cleaning houses like the one she used to live in. On night, on her walk home, she witnesses a murder. But instead of reporting what she actually saw to the police, she has her own agenda.
Eddie Flynn is a former con man, now defense attorney, willing to take on the most hopeless cases. His newest case is for Jack Johnson, an innocent man accused of murder. And just when he takes that on, Eddie finds out that some organized criminals have a bounty on his head.
This psychological thriller has lots of twists and turns and an ending I NEVER saw coming! The story is written in multiple POV so you get lots of perspectives and lots of pieces to the puzzle and you spend the whole book trying to put it all together. There are so many unexpected surprises throughout this book. With Eddie’s unconventional team and their sometimes unorthodox methods help give the perfect balance of humor and entertainment while keeping you guessing and on the edge of your seat. This book kept me invested from start to finish!
Witness 8 is part of a series but can be read stand alone. Steve Cavanagh is a new author to me but after reading Kill for You, Kill for Me and now Witness 8, I am definitely going to be reading more of his books!
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the opportunity to read an ARC of Witness 8 in exchange for my honest review.

Another great Eddie Flynn book. This was fast-paced and solid. While I saw some twists coming, others took me by surprise. I love this series!

Many thanks to Netgalley, Atria Books, and Simon and Schuster. I received this book in exchange for my honest review. My thoughts are entirely my own.
Eddie is at it again this time defending a man named John who supposedly killed his elderly rich neighbor whose husband was out of town. Ruby Johnson is a young women who used to live in seventy-sixth Street which is a rich neighborhood. Ruby is a nanny and housekeeper for many families that love their since she lived there once so she’s one of them but still the help. Ruby sees an elderly woman murdered and sees who murders her and decides to black mail the two man who were having affairs with the other woman. Ruby frames John because his family now lives in the house that she lived in as a child where she murdered her father in order to protect herself and her mother who took the brunt of his abuse. Ruby sees an old painting that John’s wife Allison’s mother gave them of a red priest at the spot where Ruby’s father is buried. Ruby gets money from blackmailing but in doing so she gets the attention of Mr. Christmas who is a professional killer but who ends up saving her and tells her that he will help her after she takes a plea and admits to sitting up John. Eddie gets on the bad side of New York’s Finest and gets a bounty on his head and ends up getting it taken care of with some of the money that Ruby extorted from one of the men she blackmailed. This book was so good and I can’t wait to get a physical copy of this book.

This was my first novel by Cavanagh and I wanted to read one of his books for a long time. I think in the end, I might have picked the wrong book. There was nothing wrong with the story or the plot, but I was thrown off by the multiple POV’s. I’d say that’s totally a matter of taste. Too many tend to confuse me and I like to keep it simple, but as said, that’s just me and my personal preference. Otherwise the sorry deficit caught my interest

What if the witness is more twisted than the killer? I really enjoyed this psychological thriller with multiple POV, the most recent installment to Steve Cavanaugh’s Eddie Flynn collection. Initially I was unsure how exciting this book would be since the opening chapter basically explains what happens with the murder. There were many characters with seemingly unconnected stories and it took some time to learn about each storyline and how they intersected. The gradual unfolding of different elements, twists, and turns led to an enjoyable read with many surprises. I haven’t yet read any other Eddie Flynn books by this author. Eddie is an ex-conman turned defense attorney, an unexpected imperfect protagonist that knows just how to bend the rules in order to seek justice in a system that is broken. The book can be read as stand-alone and the author does a good job giving brief back story to each character in the series (that you likely would already know if you had read the previous books). The last third of the book, I couldn’t put it down and had to keep reading to see exactly how all of the pieces aligned. I definitely never would have predicted certain aspects of the ending! Some of the events and interactions between characters in this book aren’t really realistic and require you to suspend belief but overall make for an entertaining work of fiction. Thank you to NetGalley, Steve Cavanaugh, and Atria Books for the gifted ARC in exchange for an honest review.

5 stars. I don't know what the hell goes on in Steve Cavanagh's head, but I am so grateful that I get to spend a little bit of time there reading his books. The Eddie Flynn series is hands down my favorite thriller series. Every single book in this series is a masterpiece. There are no duds. And Witness 8 is just as good as its predecessors. Even though it's a series, every book can be read as a standalone. But as the series progresses, in addition to the amazing legal thriller, the twists, the turns, and the surprises, we also start to get found family vibes. And with each person that Eddie adds to his band of misfits, I get sucked in even more. So in that regard, you may be slightly less invested in the characters if you start with Witness 8, but I suspect that if you start here, you'll want to back track and read the earlier books. They're all really that good. I think one of the things that's really special about many of the Eddie Flynn books, including Witness 8, is that you know who the bad guy is from the get go. It literally tells you on the cover. So the fact that Cavanagh can tell you up front exactly who to look out for, and then still give us twists/ turns/ and surprise, is just a testament to how spectacular Cavanagh is as a story teller.
Thank you so much to Cavanagh, Atria, and netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. I can truly say that if Steve Cavanagh writes it, I will read it. And this especially includes his Eddie Flynn series.

I love that this book was fast paced, and kept me engaged. I will say, it wasn’t what I expected as it was categorized as a thriller, and I felt that it was more of a crime/mob story. The title was also a bit confusing just because witness eight was mentioned in passing, whereas the character who portrays witness eight had a far more developed story than just being a witness.

I liked it - I thought it started a bit slow of the sense of
Following characters and I didn’t realize it was a series - so I feel I may have understood it better if I read the others but otherwise a solid thriller!

I have just recently found Steve Cavanaugh and am so happy I did. I really enjoy his books, and this one is no different. I didn't realize it was part of a series but even still, I was able to dive right in without feeling lost. Most of the chapters were fairly short which helped me fly through this book. Now its time for me to go back and read more books by this author. Thank you Netgalley for this ARC.

Definitely loved the concept of the book and correlation overall. However all the different point of views became a lot and I didn't feel they were all needed. I felt the book dragged in a few parts but overall would recommend to others to read.
Thanks to NetGallery and headline publishing

Any book by Steve Cavanagh and I’m all in. I love his books and I’m excited to offer a review. R E A D the book. It has all the elements for a good book. The twists & turns you didn’t see coming. Is Ruby a good witness?

I’m a huge fan of Cavanagh’s Kill For Me, Kill For You (that was easily one of the best books I read this year)—so I was so excited to start this one!
In short, it's twisty, page-turning, and there's a clever ending that I didn't fully see coming—there were definitely some parts that I don't think I ever would have guessed, but they all made sense when pieced together.
You’ll learn about our main character, Ruby. She and her mother once lived on a very wealthy street in an exclusive neighborhood but lost everything due to the father’s gambling. Years later, she is a maid and nanny to some of the families on the street—while caring for her ill mom. She would love to put her mother in a home where she can get the proper care she needs, but with her finances, that is completely out of the question.
When one of the women in the neighborhood is found dead, a lot of questions are raised—and the evidence points to one of the fathers in the neighborhood—one whom Ruby happens to work/nanny for. Does Ruby have anything to do with the case, given her motive for money? And if so, how deeply is she involved—and what else is she capable of?
Eddy Flynn and his team are quick on the case. Truthfully, I would have liked to read more from Ruby's perspective, as his storyline was only somewhat compelling to me. I realized that this book is part of a series didn't realize this was part of a series centered around Eddy Flyn’s cases, so it made sense why so much of the story focused on him. I did appreciate that each book in the series can be read together or as a standalone.
I also really like Cavanagh’s writing style. It’s really easy to get lost in the story, and there’s always some unpredictability in his thrillers that I don’t always see from other authors. His ideas are really unique and this translates directly into his writing. This book also has multiple layers to it, which make it feel like you're reading multiple stories at once. I enjoyed that.
Thank you to Netgalley and Atria Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Steve Cavanagh is a thriller mastermind and he showcases his prowess once again in his newest Eddie Flynn installment. With his trademark twists and turns, Witness 8 is fast paced and Cavanagh will have you hanging onto his every word.

This book is about a former con-artist turned lawyer trying to prove his client is innocent, and a sinister witness who has her own plans.
This is the second book I have read by Cavanagh and it won’t be my last. The intricate plot was well done and didn’t leave any loose ends. This book kept me guessing the whole time! There were multiple POVs which is always something I love. I wasn’t too sure about the main character, but I ended up loving him. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery and roots for the underdog.
