Steve Cavanagh is at it again! I am now an Eddie Flynn completist and each book delivers - blending high-stakes courtroom drama with relentless twists that keep you hooked until the final page.
In ๐๐๐ฉ๐ฃ๐๐จ๐จ ๐, Eddie Flynn is back and working to free his newest client - the sole suspect in the murder of his neighbor. The story centers around a seemingly airtight case that unravels in unexpected ways, proving once again that nothing is as it seems in Cavanaghโs world.
I love a good courtroom legal thriller and Flynn is one of my favorite MCโs. He is a con man at heart and is always thinking two steps ahead in order to outwit his opponent - some of his antics are just brilliant! His methods are unpredictable and a lot of times questionable, yet they get results. The secondary characters are also compelling, with layers that reveal themselves as the story progresses and the pacing in this book is one that you are able to easily binge - and you will!
If you love clever legal thrillers packed with tension and deception, Witness 8 is well worth your time. And while this is a series, each book can be read as a standalone.

This is book #8 in the Eddie Flynn series, but I have never read any of the others and I feel that it can definitely be a standalone story. You may have gotten a bit more back story on some of the characters by reading the others, but it didn't affect my reading enjoyment at all. The story starts with the murder of a Manhattan socialite in her upscale neighborhood. The crime is witnessed by Ruby, a young woman who is a nanny and a cleaner for the wealthy couples on this particular street. She also sees where the killer dumps the gun and retrieves it. Ruby once lived on this same street as a child until her father gambles and drinks away their fortune and they lose their home. Now in possession of the gun and the identity of the killer, she comes up with a plot to blackmail two men from the neighborhood and also set up another. There is also a plotline involving Eddie, who has angered a NYC crime boss who puts out a hit on him. This brings in several out of town hitmen to take on the job. Cavanaugh has several story threads going all at once. It's a bit hard for the reader to keep it all straight at times, but trust in the author, he brings it all together masterfully in the end. This was such a fun ride and I loved seeing how it all unfolded. I will definitely be checking out more of this series in the future.
Thank you to @netgalley and @atriabooks for this gifted copy. This one just published on March 25, so it's available now. If you like a good thriller with a side of police procedural and courtroom drama, then give this one a try. Don't let the series part deter you.

Like all of Cavanaghโs books Iโve read, Witness 8 had me hooked and kept me reading through the last page. Eddie Flynn is a fantastic character, and I always like reading about his clever, non-traditional methods of solving crimes. This book did seem to have a lot going on, but Iโll continue to read anything Cavanagh writes, and this has me wanting to go back and start the Eddie Flynn series from the beginning.

โ๏ธ๐๐๐๐ ๐ธ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ข...A blast!! ๐I mean wow! This one was action packed! ๐I absolutely loved KFMKFY so I knew I had to read this newest book of Cavanagh. This is the 8th one in the Eddie Flynn series..however was my first so know you can read as a standalone. I really want to read more as Eddie Flynn was really something, I tell ya. ๐ I love when rich people behave like feral animals ๐คฃ& you get that with this book! This one has been out in the world just one day & it already has lots of hype, but itโs truly well deserved ๐๐คฉ

3.5 stars rounded up ! It took awhile for me to get into this one . The MANY characters were difficult to keep track of . I did enjoy that many had layers of deceipt/good,

if you're looking for a fun, action-packed crime novel, then i highly recommend giving the latest eddie flynn book a shot. i haven't had a chance to read the first seven (!!!) books in the series, so i was pretty concerned that i would be in way over my head with this one. thankfully, cavanagh wrote the narrative in such a way that it was easy to follow, even for those of us new to the quick-witted hijinx of his title con-man-turned-defense-attorney.
the only real downside for me was the sheer amount of characters to keep track of. i'm sure this is my fault โ if i had read the previous books, i would have had the time and context to meet and remember a lot of the previously introduced cast. that said, i'm also fairly certain that there didn't need to be something like 9 or 10 POV characters either. i didn't figure out the big reveals in this one (again, too busy trying to remember who was who), but i also wasn't shocked when they happened. i didn't really mind, though, since this one was a genuine amount of fun to get through.

thanks to atria for the digital copy of this book on netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Witness 8 by Steve Cavanagh is the eighth book of the Eddie Flynn series which is an action packed crime thriller.
Now I need to go back and start from book one in this series because not only is attorney Flynn a genius, the thriller was so captivating, I didnโt want it to end.
This is a fast paced mystery that is so vividly described, I felt like I was watching a case on tv where I waited until itโs over to finally go to the bathroom. My brain was hard at work as I tried to figure out the cliffhangers and just when I thought I had it, I was proven wrong.
All those twists and turns holds proof that Cavanagh can do no wrong. Read it today!๐

Wow this was so well written! This book was so much different from other thrillers I've read, but I a loved it! It was super addicting and the ending had my jaw on the floor!

It took me a little bit to get into this book, but wow. The characters were all described so clearly you could see their images jumping off the pages. The action was non-stop. I hadn't read any other books in this series, and it didn't seem to cause any issues while reading this one. This was definitely a good book, with an ending I didn't see coming.

I didnโt know that this was eighth in a series, and if youโre familiar with the characters already, I think it will be a great installment! Going in blind to the series, I found the mystery compelling and twisty, though I didnโt connect to the characters enough.

An Edge-of-Your-Seat Thriller with Unforgettable Twists! (โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธยฝ)
As someone who devours thrillers, Iโm always looking for a story that keeps me hooked from start to finishโand Witness 8 by Steve Cavanagh absolutely delivered! This book had everything I love: high stakes, unpredictable twists, and complex, compelling characters.
The story grabbed me from the very first chapter and never let go. Cavanagh expertly builds tension, creating a fast-paced, gripping narrative that kept me turning pages late into the night. Just when I thought I had it figured out, another twist completely upended my expectations! The courtroom drama was especially riveting, and I loved how the legal elements were woven seamlessly into the suspenseful plot.
The only reason this isnโt a full 5-star read for me is that a few moments felt a little far-fetched, and I wished for a bit more depth in some of the secondary characters. But honestly, thatโs a minor issue in an otherwise fantastic book.
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review. If you love thrillers that keep you guessing, Witness 8 is absolutely worth the read. I highly recommend it, and I canโt wait to see what Steve Cavanagh writes next!

"What if the witness was more twisted than the killer?"
Witness 8 by Steve Cavanagh is an unput-downable thriller full of action, twists and suspense. This is part of the Eddie Flynn series but can 100% be read as a standalone.
Ruby used to live amongst the uber rich and elite while she was growing up, but now she works for them. As a housekeeper / nanny she is able to have free reign in her clients' houses. One night after her shift, she stumbled upon a murder in progress. But instead of calling the police to tell them she knows who the killer is, Ruby has an ulterior motive. Meanwhile Eddie Flynn has a new case defending John Jackson who is accused of the murder. While the evidence looks bad, Eddie knows in his gut that John is innocent. Eddie and his team set out to exonerate John and find the real killer using some.. well.. unconventional ways. Eddie also happens to have a contract out on his life.. all in a day's work for this con man turned lawyer!
Hands down five stars! Action-packed right from the start, I could not put this book down. Fast-paced, engaging, and full of twists I highly recommend this book to anyone! I have not read any of the other Eddie Flynn books but the way Cavanagh writes these complex characters make you feel like you already know them. Definitely adding the rest of the Eddie Flynn series to my TBR mountain!
Thank you to NetGalley, Steve Cavanagh, and Atria Books for the ARC. Release date is March 25th 2025.

I personally don't think Steve Cavanagh can write a bad book, but maybe I'm being biased... no, definitely not. He genuinely cannot write a bad book.
Another installment in the Eddie Flynn series, Witness 8 trails after Eddie as he deals with an impossible case, but a life or death situation as well. Then there's Ruby... and Mr. Christmas. And on top of that, nine different POVs. So, naturally, you strap in and let yourself be manhandled by this ride (book).
Cavanagh writes intriguing characters with plots so thick you'll need garden gloves to get to the root of them. It's wonderful, intriguing, and always a fun time. Easiest rating of the year for me.
Big thank you to the publisher for the early copy!

Ruby was such a creepy character!! She and Mr Christmas really added an adrenaline inducing aspect to this story. Originally I was overwhelmed with the amount of characters involved but around 30% I started to follow along a bit better.

There has been a murder on one of New York's most affluent streets, and someone has witnessed the murder. But what happens when the witness has a sinister agenda of her own.
This book was a slow burn for me, which is weird because it was jam packed and really not slow at all.
So I am not sure why it took so long for me to really get into it.
This is a multiple POV story and at first I was confused because the book seemed to shoot off in a completely different direction before all the pieces fell together.
In the end I loved the book and how the story developed. Conman turned lawyer Eddie Flynn was an acquired taste, but I loved his unconventional tactics and will definitely look into more books in this series.

โA former resident of the ultra-elite Manhattan upper class, Ruby now works as a maid in the type of houses she used to live in. Unassuming, she sees everyone's dirty secrets from the inside of their beautiful, renovated brownstones. But when Ruby witnesses a murder, she has wicked plans in mind that don't involve telling the authorities the truth.โ
โWitness 8โ follows Eddie the lawayer and his team. And Ruby who is absolutely nuts - do some crazy things while an innocent man is accused of murder.
This book was pretty good, more of a detective book than a quick paced thriller ( which i personally like more) but still enjoyable.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

โWHAT IF THE WITNESS WAS MORE TWISTED THAN THE KILLER?โ Umm say less! Immediately hooked!
Another unputdownable book by Steve Cavanagh! When I finished the last page, my first reaction was โwow what a chase!โ. Full of action, suspense, and unpredictable twists this book has all the components I love in a thriller. The multiple point of views, multilayered plot lines, and ruthless characters took this book to the next level!
This book is part of the Eddie Flynn series but can be read as a stand alone! So donโt let that deter you from picking this one up! TODAY is the pub day! So add this book to your cart!

This book is a rollercoasterโwild, twisty, and totally addictive. Eddie Flynn, a conman-turned-lawyer, is the kind of character you canโt help but root for, flaws and all. And the villain? Unhinged, brilliant, and seriously chilling. Sure, youโll need to suspend disbelief, but thatโs half the fun. If you love fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat thrillers, this oneโs a no-brainer. 5 stars for the sheer adrenaline rush!

Ruby used to live among the elite while she was growing up, now she works for them. When she witnesses a murder late one night in the elite neighborhood she works in, she doesnโt plan on telling the truth. She has ulterior plans. Eddie Flynn, con artist turned attorney extraordinaire, has a new case, John Jackson is accused of murder and itโs looking pretty cut and dried. Eddie knows heโs innocent and sets out to prove it, even if his ways are unconventional. Unfortunately for Eddie, thereโs also a hit on his head and heโs not safe. Navigating this trial could be his last, but along with his eclectic team anything is possible, that is if they can just figure out whatโs up with Ruby. This was a fast paced page turner. The twists keep coming and the reader is engrossed from start to finish. Cavanagh keeps us on our toes and has us hoping for more of Eddie Flynnโฆmuch more! Thank you to Hachette UK and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

I cannot get enough of Eddie Flynn! These books have great twists and are so well written.
I have not read all of these books in order, but they are still great.
