I loved Kerry Hudson’s ‘Thirst’. It's a thoughtful and at times heartbreaking story of a love affair between Dave who is British and Alena who is Russian, and has been brought to the UK under false pretences. At times their romance seems doomed as they struggle individually against the odds, and I found myself rooting for them all the way through.
