This book is full of miracles and prayer and fasting and suffering and beautiful devotion to Jesus. The first chapter tells that the author's church was bombed. This was in an unnamed Middle Eastern Muslim country ... probably in the 1990's sometime. Some details are vague as she chose not to tell us the name of the country she was born in. Most of the book centers on her evolution as a Christian, the first in her family. She eventually gets back to the day of the bombing and tells about meeting Jesus and her recovery.
She was a teenager when she converted to Christianity, and she prayed and fasted for her family members to convert as well. Along the way there was a lot of persecution along with terrifying situations, as you can imagine, considering that Christians are considered infidels in that place, and even the male family members felt free to do harm in their attempts to reverse her conversion.
I was sad that Samaa's country and city were not disclosed because I like to have a sense of place when I read books, especially memoirs. However I understand that she may have feared for the safety of her family. And where is Samaa now? That too is undisclosed though we do learn she studied at Christian colleges in the USA and became a missionary. She could be anywhere in the world now. Also, I could not find even one photograph of this woman on the internet, so she clearly values her privacy! I guess we'll just have to live with the unknown. Such is life.
