This was the perfect start to my autumnal reads and it turned out to be the perfect cosy romance read for me.

3.5 Stars!

This was a cute, fun read for the start of autumn! I love reverse grumpy x sunshine and a golden retriever MMC and that's exactly what I got! It was a very quick read (I knocked it out in an afternoon!) and a nice little palette cleanser between some of the longer novels I've been reading.

I think where things fell a bit flat for me was Marcella sometimes seemed just plain mean; I get the whole black cat attitude (because honestly, that's me) but some thoughts/actions just seemed unprompted towards the beginning of the story and that was a little off-putting!
Additionally, I don't really vibe with the insta-love trope and (even though we know Marcella drunk-filled out his questionnaire and that was the catalyst for things) that's how the first hundred pages felt—very abrupt!

However, Marcella grew on me as the story progressed and I definitely got a better grasp of her character through every chapter! I love how accepting Finn was and how much he adored Marcella without wanting to change her; he truly was (as the title stated) a straight-up cinnamon roll of a man. This is also a little shout-out to Georgia! I love seeing my home state as a contemporary book setting.
I also loved the side characters and everything just felt so cohesive!

Overall, if you're looking for something sweet, cozy, and autumnal, I recommend giving this a chance! It's closed-door, very mild-mannered (aka very cutesy and demure), but please make sure to check the trigger warnings provided by the author at the beginning of the novel! I always appreciate when authors give a warning about the content so readers can keep themselves safe.
All of this to say, I look forward to the next book in the series! Thank you to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op and Camilla Evergreen for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback!

Okay, can I say…Finnegan and Marcella are hilarious. Hating the Cinnamon Roll CEO by Camilla Evergreenis such a fun, zany, golden retriever-black cat fall festive love story filled with all the beautiful, witty banter and fantastic pet names you could wish for.

Finnegan is a brilliant billionaire, and he is a complete marshmallow. But while his life might seem perfect from the outside, he is also incredibly lonely. His father passed away, and now he faces losing his mother to dementia. He has devised a brilliant plan to ease his loneliness- post an ad with an application for the position of his wife! He just leaves off his name. Why include that detail?

Marcella has such a tender heart and keeps all her feelings tight under a protective, thick layer of armor. On her birthday, she makes an impulsive, slightly tipsy decision and applies to become a billionaire’s wife. Her only comment on her ideal man? Anyone other than her boss, Finnegan.

The fun times start when Finnegan tells her he wants her as his wife. She is not amused. Through playing video games, wandering through corn mazes, making apple pie, and Finnegan rescuing Marcella from her police light ambiance apartment, the two form a close bond and work together to find their happily ever after.

This is such a fun read, and I am so glad you can snag a copy today. Be advised that there ARE some more serious elements, but the fun banter levels it out.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hating the Cinnamon Roll CEO. is the apart of the Cinnamon Rolls and Pumpkin Spice series. It was such a cute workplace enemies to lover book. I loved that the main character Marcella is the grumpy one and Finn is so nice. I loved the relationship between Marcella and Finn. The story gives a great cozy fall feel .

Content: Clean this book is a closed door romance book with kissing only.

I received a copy from NetGalley for this ARC. All opinions in this review are my own. I also want to thank the Author.

Cute quick read, hard to put down, and a nice palette cleanser. She’s a got the black cat personality driven to fill out an application to marry a billionaire so she can afford her bills, and he’s her golden retriever billionaire boss that’s tired of dating fake people and looking to get married. They’re personalities should clash, but the more of the real “her” she lets thru the more he falls for her.

The only thing I didn’t like is in a few spots it was a little confusing who was talkin, but other than that I loved it.

This was a pumpkin spice latte condensed in a book.
It's so much more than I expected. Whole book flew by like a fall afternoon behind my window.
Main characters were lovable and not annoying. Finn is an ultimate book boyfriend that every girl deserves. It's so sad (for the otherss) his heart only belongs to Marcella. It's also super cute. I loved that he was so patient, so kind.
As I was reading, I actually smelled cinnamon in the air.
This is cute, easy to read, fall rom com, this is pumpkin spice, this is a warm hug, everything condensed in a single book. This is my favourite trope, no spice, yet full of spice and great writing. This is a book every romance lover should read. Now excuse me, I am going to bake a pie, or buy an apple cider.

Thank you so much to Net Gallery shelf for eARC of this lovely book.

I got 22% into this and couldn’t continue. I wasn’t vibing with the writing style, and didn’t love the FMC. This one just wasn’t for me unfortunately.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this arc!

What a good book! I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. This is a first by this author but will not be my last! I read this in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down.

First I want to thank NetGalley for a free arc in exchange for an honest review. So I found the beginning of the book a little weird and wasn't sure if I would be able to even read it, but by the end of the first chapter I was hooked! Marcella is a grumpy, moody and introverted administrative assistant to CEO Finnegan, who is her boss. Finnegan is actually the sweetest, funny and patient boss. On her birthday, Marcella gets drunk and fills out a dating questionnaire unaware that her boss, Finn, was the one who made it. It gets funnier from that point on. It is a great story that will have you loving it until the end! I enjoyed seeing as Marcella lets herself open up for love!

i read this book in one sitting. it was so so cute. when marcella drunkenly submits an application to be an anonymous billionaire’s wife, she doesnt think anything of it. but then… that billionaire is her boss (who is the sweetest man alive and therefore the exact opposite of everything marcella stands for) and he is set on her accepting his proposal. naturally, dating hijinks ensue where he tries to romance her and she tries to deny the fact that she likes him.

i loved this book!! the relationship between marcella and finn was adorable, her friendships were PERFECT, and the best part? stardew valley is a plot point. if you know anything about me, its that i have an unhealthy obsession with stardew valley. so when the love interests bond over the most adorable farming sim in the world, that makes for the most adorable romcom in the world.

i’d recommend to anyone and everyone looking for a feel good, cozy, lighthearted romance for fall!! it definitely got me into the autumnal spirit.

thank you so much to netgalley for the arc <3 out september 10th!!

Ok, this book! I loved it soooo much! Marcella is the grumpy one in this story. She cracked me up in the opening scene. Just know she's not this cuddly and happy sunshiney character. But she was very endearing the more I read of the book and came to understand her. And goodness, she's hysterically funny!!! Seriously! And pair her up with her boss... *happy sigh*

Finn, the billionaire cinnamon roll CEO, sunshiney happiness, that you just can't help but love and connect with. He's wonderful and everything that being a cinnamon roll character implies. Combine him and Marcella together and you'll see magic.

They might start off their friendship to more relationship in an unconventional way, but I loved watching them truly come to know each other and be sincere with each other. It was so sweet and heartwarming. Finn is the real deal. And watching Marcella come to know she is worth love and being understood was something great to behold.

Content: Clean. There are some kisses but nothing further. The characters do sleep in the same bed but nothing is implied in happening between them.

I received a copy from the publisher, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Op, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

This book was given to me by NetGalley as an arc, thank you!
This book is definitely a grumpy x sunshine, but what's unique about it is that the FMC is the grumpy one and the MMC is sunshine. I typically eat up the GxS trope when it's structured like that because it usually results in a very powerful FMC who knows her own mind.
The FMC in this book is very competent and she knows her own mind, but unfortunately for me she was a bit too mean. I like an edge and some banter but she was to me just kinda hostile. Almost like beating a puppy.
The MMC was very sweet. He was a nice, respectful, quirky guy who put a lot of emphasis on respecting boundaries and the people around him. He said things like,"| want to marry you because I believe it would be an honor to love you," and to me that's swoon worthy.
I have seen this book being advertised as enemies to lovers but as someone who loves enemies to lovers I don't see it. He was nice to her from the beginning and she just hated him, she hated him because he was too nice and positive. Grumpy x Sunshine for sure but not enemies to lovers. There are other well loved tropes in the book like of course billionaire romance and marriage of convenience.
The authors writing style is very enjoyable. It's light, upbeat, and fits this style of book really well. I think it's a good book, 1 just don't think it hit the nail on the head for me specifically but that's totally okay because everyone's different. I think if maybe I would've connected to the story better if the characters interacted more before the main plot started up.
Overall, it's sweet and simple but also a bit edgy with some good banter. It's good for fans of grumpy x sunshine but l would not suggest for someone looking for enemies to lovers.

Camilla has done it again. I don’t know anyone else that can mix deep themes of trust and safety and love with dark humor, and lighten the load on some of the most challenging facets of life…and turn it into a beautiful love story.

Not usually a fan of billionaire stories, but it’s so perfect in this setting. Finn and Marcella are excellent together. Seeing the consistency of patience, safety, flirting, and pursuit with such respect is breath taking.

Also, the gifts? 🫠🫠🫠

Content considerations: some lighter innuendo, mentions of suicide, self-deprecating humor

Hating the Cinnamon Roll CEO is part of an Autumn themed rom com series consisting of eight books. So far, I've only read the first book. These are closed door romances.

This one is a billionaire romance, my first read of this type and I enjoyed the characters.
This is a bit of a twist around the mmc is usually the grump and the fmc is usually sunshiny. Our female main character, Marcella is an introverted grump and the (Cinnamon Roll) CEO, Finnegan is sunshiny.

The problem is Marcella finds Finn too outgoing, too sunshiny and too friendly. As the story progresses, we see both are strong characters and I enjoyed seeing their interactions.
Lovely autumn feeling with mentions of pumpkins, yummy desserts and oh so tantalizing autumn drinks.

I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.

This is a fun, entertaining read. Finnegan and Marcella are interesting, complex, strong, intriguing, entertaining characters. I enjoyed their romance and the path it took to get to their HEA. These two are fun to spend time with. The secondary characters added to the fabric of the story and my enjoyment. The story is easy to read and get into.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wow! I actually loved this. This is your typical romcom done perfectly. Marcella is the grumpy, introverted (and possibly violent) FMC with the sunshine (Cinnamon Roll) CEO, Finnegan. This love story is not realistic, but Evergreen almost convinces you that it is with how well versed her characters. Within 188 pages you get funny witty conversations between two people falling for one another, and beautiful quotes about being understood and appreciated for exactly who you are.

If what I have said above is not enough to convince you to read this book, let me mention that Marcella is a fellow Stardew lover! This adds yet another hilarious element to the story.

First of all, thank You Netgalley for the ARC granted. Here We have an abslute enemies to lovers trpe couple, embodied by an CEO and assistant trope, that is always a good pick up choice to reading. The characters were well developed and the romance is kinda of slowburn mode, which I liked.

This was honestly a strange but enjoyable book. Although I had read a book by Evergreen before I still wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this one. Hating the Cinnamon Roll CEO is written by Camilla Evergreen and it is the first book in the Cinnamon Rolls and Pumpkin Spice multiple author series.
Marcella and Finn were both weird and themselves. They definitely had their issues but it was a lot of fun to read about them. I honestly don’t really know what to think about Marcella but I like her stubbornness and outspokenness. However I grew to understand as I read the book, she had to learn to let others in. Finn was a sweetheart. You don’t see his perspective as much but you still get to know him. It was sweet to read about him falling for Marcella and wanting to show her his love.
Marcella and Finn were fun together, they were such opposites and yet they fit well together. I liked seeing them interact and their banter. The story was interesting although there were some points where Marcella’s thoughts kind of confused me. However it was a fun book and the side characters were also fun.
I would recommend Hating the Cinnamon Roll CEO to those who enjoy rom-coms with weird characters who win your heart. Hating the Cinnamon Roll CEO is a closed door (PG-13) romantic comedy.

Content warnings: dementia, grief, mentions of suicide, death threat jokes, mentions of sex, innuendos

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.

Thank you for the ARC!
Absolutely loved the character development of the characters throughout this book.
I also love a good reverse grumpy x sunshine book and we get that here!
Finn is the absolute sweetest and had me rooting for him the whole time as the story developed. Though there were a few times he let things slip that he shouldn’t have when someone took advantage or was rude of him, but at the same time that can be overlooked because he was just a generally forgiving and kind guy.
Definitely pure autumn vibes and I loved it! The cover matches so well and is really well done to complement the story. I’ll be recommending this!
