This was a fun thriller I couldn't put down! The start of the story felt a little slow but slowly took off and I was enjoying how the story evolved. The different POV kept me engaged finding out more of the past and the present!
I was really interested in the premise of the book. It started a bit slow but I wanted to give it a chance so I kept reading. It was entertaining and you do have to suspend belief a bit, but overall not bad. Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the arc,
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.
This book has multiple characters without it being too overwhelming. You end up changing your mind on who dunnit multiple times!
It is a slow burn - but Im glad I worked with it. It does switch between past and present tense a lot - but it isnt confusing in the way some books can be.
If you choose to give this a try - do not give up on it.
This one was only just OK. I really didn’t get the motivation for a lot of the characters nor did I get any sense of connection. It had a few good plot points, but the ending really fell flat.
WOW! This book was so good. I was hooked from the start as Tracy was doing everything in her power to find her daughter, Willow, after the school bus Tracy refurbished turned up at her house without the two girls that took it on a road trip to finish the thriller they were writing together. I really thought I had it figured out, but I was very wrong. Pick up My Missing Daughter for a twisty suspenseful page turner of a thriller! This book is a must read! Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this one!
Absolutely loved this. What a page turner I couldn't put it down.
Thank you for the opportunity to review the book loved it
Name :- My Missing Daughter
Author :- Ellery Kane
Genre :- Psychological Thriller
The story follows a mother, whose life is turned upside down when her daughter Willow and her best friend vanish during a camping trip. The novel opens with an eerie scene: a man shows up at her doorstep in the middle of a storm, returning her daughter’s camping bus, but without Willow. From that chilling moment, the pace accelerates, throwing the reader into the whirlwind of panic, confusion, and desperation as the mother embarks on a relentless quest to uncover what happened to her daughter.
Kane excels at creating tension and suspense, particularly through vivid descriptions of the physical clues left behind—clumps of hair, trashed belongings—that suggest something terrible has happened. The constant uncertainty of whether Willow is alive and what kind of danger she may be facing keeps readers on edge, as does the protagonist's unwavering determination to bring her daughter home.
Likes and Dislikes :-
What I Liked:
1 Tension and Suspense: The novel hooks you from the first chapter and doesn’t let go. The pacing is relentless, with twists and turns that keep you guessing about Willow’s fate.
2 Emotional Depth: The protagonist’s emotional journey—her panic, guilt, fear, and fierce determination—feels authentic and raw. This emotional layer makes the novel more than just a mystery, grounding the thriller in the intense bond between mother and daughter.
3 Plot Twists: Kane keeps the surprises coming, with unpredictable twists that add to the sense of urgency and raise the stakes, making it impossible to predict what will happen next.
What I Disliked:
1 Secondary Characters: While the protagonist is well developed, some of the supporting characters feel a bit one-dimensional. A little more depth to the individuals helping or hindering the investigation could have added richness to the narrative.
Overall Impression: My Missing Daughter is a tense, emotional rollercoaster that taps into every parent’s worst fear. Ellery Kane crafts a thrilling and suspenseful narrative with plenty of unexpected turns, leaving readers eager to discover what really happened to Willow. While some characters could have been fleshed out more, the gripping central mystery and the emotional core of the story make this a must-read for fans of psychological suspense and family-centered thrillers. Kane expertly combines the heart-pounding urgency of a missing persons case with a mother’s unwavering love, resulting in a story that will stay with you long after you’ve turned the final page.
My rating :- 4/5
My first Ellery Kane book but definitely not my last. This was a crazy roller coaster ride. Packed with twists and turns. I had no idea who to trust. Fantastic characters that kept me 100% invested in the story.
Thank you NetGalley, Ellery Kane and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book.
My Missing Daughter is a psychological thriller with a lot of twists and turns throughout the book. The beginning started out a little slow but picked up before the middle.
This author always gives a gripping tale and oh yeah this book grips you till the end. And if you think you figured it out early on in the story who did it well think again. Two friends or who used to be. Did one or both turn bad?
A road trip is in the works to bring them closer together again so they can finish up a story they are writing however... what happens when the story mimics the life you are leading?
Will Tracy, and Candice find their daughters before the unthinkable happens...
What happens when Amelia the daughter of Candice returns but not Willow...
Well grab a copy and find out. The story did start a bit slower than this author's other stories but when it gets going it really gets going.
This was a strange book, at around the 40% mark I wasn't sure if I would even finish it. As odd as it may seem the story managed to be predictable and far fetched at the same time..Another complaint I had was that there wasn't a single character in it that I liked, they were all ridiculously self obsessed. Anyway, I persevered and I have to admit that a couple of the twists came as a total surprise. Sadly that wasn't enough to salvage the book.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book
I thought this was a great book. Loved the idea of two best friends, writing a book of their own going on an adventure. And they definitely had an adventure. I was able to figure out several of the twist but the big one at the end surprised me. It was great and I was not expecting it. Thank you for the chance to read this one.
I get that it's fiction, but there were (FAR TOO MANY) parts that are just so over the top unbelievable that I couldn't enjoy the book. The writing is decent and the characters are three dimensional, but I just couldn't get over how over the top Amelia was written. Actually many of the characters were too over the top and not at all how normal average people would act.
I appreciate the ARC
Ok this is a good one! The plot, the characters At about 20-30 percent read is where I could not put it down! Every chapter I read there was another twist and turn. I was like it’s him wait no it’s her, wait what!!!!! I was not prepared for the ending! I literally yelled holy shit!!! I did not care for some of her mother’s actions while looking for her daughter. I was like who would really do that. But aside from my opinion about that, this book is a must read!!! I will definitely definitely and definitely recommend this book!!
Thank you Bookouture publishing and Net Galley for this free ARC in return for my honest review. I also reviewed on Goodreads.
I fought to get started with this book. Up until about the 25% mark, I was trying to decide to not DNF it. Then it started to pick up. This story is written with a lot of back and forth of timelines which I don’t personally enjoy, especially in thrillers that ai already find dragging. That being said, I feel like once I started to be invested in the story this set up proved to be beneficial in showing us what happened on the road trip to present day and the repercussions. In this day and age it was a nice touch to add the Instagram references since realistically that’s what teen girls would be using to document their adventures.
Again once I got over the 30% mark I found myself enjoying the twists and turns and anticipating what new discovery would be revealed more and more. I wasn’t left with any burning unanswered questions at the end but I do feel like you have to suspend reality a bit to not find some of the final act as far fetched as it comes across. Overall I am glad I stuck with this story and would definitely recommend if you are looking for a different take on a psychosocial thriller. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.
This has to be made into a movie. Such a compelling premise and so well done. Twists that will have you dizzy as you keep reading this through your lunch, at the dinner table and way past your bedtime to finish it. Crazy ending!
Wow this book was amazing, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I seriously didn't see that end coming, so good go read it!!!
I found that this book started off a little bit slow and it took until maybe 20-30% through for me to feel that it started picking up, however after this I thought it was extremely gripping. I did find myself feeling somewhat frustrated with the characters at the start however as the plot progressed, I thought the author wrote in a way that made you really connect with them and understand why they made certain decisions.
I really enjoyed the writing style the author used throughout this book. The way that it switched between past and present time, whilst progressing through each day of the road trip, really helped the events to unfold smoothly. I thought the inclusion of the Instagram account documenting the road trip also added a nice touch to the structure of the book.
Once this book got going, it constantly left me guessing what could possibly be revealed next and I found myself shocked at many points. I did feel certain parts of the ending were slightly far fetched however I do think everything came together and I didn’t have any burning unanswered questions. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.
What can I say? It’s a book that I couldn’t wait to finish but once I finished I couldn’t think of anything else. It made me stop and just digest. What did I just read? It’s exactly what every book should have.
Throughout the book something felt wrong for me. It started after one third and I was super annoyed but then…, in the end it all felt into the places and I understood.
I highly recommend it. If you need to pick one thriller this month, choose this one.
Thanks to NetGalley for a free copy in exchange of an honest review. And thank you for introducing me to this author. I can’t wait to check out other books.
Wow!! This one was a major page turner!! The story jumps between the present time of Tracy searching for her daughter and the days previously of Amelia & Willow’s trip. As a Michigan gal I really enjoyed the chapters detailing the roadtrip. The girls stopped at a lot of tourist spots including Mackinac Island and Pictured Rocks.
At first I really thought I knew what happened to Willow and who was behind it. Boy was I wrong!!! Each chapter brings you closer and closer to the answers of your burning questions. You will be wondering #WhereisWillow! The way the book is written you surely will not expect the ending. Your jaw will be dropped and you may even gasp - I sure did!
You’ll love this one if you are a fan of thrillers, mysteries, and fast paced stories. If I could read this one again I would! I still can’t get over how much I loved the ending!! I truly believe this title is going to be a big hit among thriller lovers once it is released! 🫶🏻🫶🏻💙💙
