Wow, what a thrill ride! When thought I had it figured out there’s a surprise twist around every corner! My Missing Daughter is a page turning psychological thriller that I could not put down. There’s a cast of characters that all fit well into the story and I had a range of emotions with each one. As Tracy searches for her missing daughter, I felt I was right along side with her. Told from different viewpoints in the present and past, the author also intertwines a nice balance of chapters written in social media format. I thought was a great addition to the overall story of Willow and Amelia taking a road trip, and doing what most young people do - post on social media. I absolutely loved this book from beginning to end and look forward to more for, the author.
I didn’t see that ending coming! Two young ladies set out on a girls trip and only one comes home. The author creates lots of tension with timelines before and after Willow comes up missing. There are plenty of twists and turns and plenty of suspects with well-honed lies. This book had me guessing until almost the end. If you like reading thrillers with twists this is a book you will enjoy. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
One of the best psychological thrillers I have read. What a great job Ellery Kane does in creating this thriller. Kept me guessing the whole way throughout the book. Willow and Amelia, best friends since childhood , embark on a journey to Niagara Falls and chronicle their journey to encourage interest in a book they are cowriting. What causes people to change and act the way Amelia did? What made Willow make the decisions she did during the journey? The weaving of social media comments into the story gives us clues and shows how society can get wrong ideas and create false narratives. Well done. Unexpected ending! I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review.
This book has a little of everything and just when you think it is going one way , it goes another and then another. Two mothers, competitive, one unlikeable, the other, is telling the story of their daughters, also competitive with one unlikeable, as well. We get invested in the story of the missing daughter and worry for her, is she going to be found alive Throw in unreliable narrators, crooked ex boyfriend/former cop, crooked grandmothers and a road trip to hell. Enjoy the ride! 4.5
Wow another dark tale from this author but this time the ending really threw me which i think is a great sign of a book as often I have worked it out before I get to the end. This is a tale of a missing girl who’s best friend is the only one who returns from a road trip but as the story takes a very dark turn is the truth closer to home than anyone realises. Loved it!!!
I have to say that this book seems so promising, the story seems actually really interesting so I was really hoping and exited for this.
For my review, to be honest with you, i don’t like to say anything bad about a book and that’s really hard for me to say something awful about book i read. But now, I have to say that I am a bit confused and i was completely disappointed with this book,
The storytelling was a bit longer for me, at the beginning, even though if it was just the first pages, I saw many lengths and that lengths, made the story really hard to follow and and a bit slow. The story was very long so, and then, the book literally took another way from nowhere and that made the story literally ununderstandable.
Anyway, in fact, this story had a lot of things that could have been interesting and probably, makes the the book better. So, It doesn’t work for me as i expected but i hope that you’ll like it more than me. I’ll get through to another book by her asap for see if my thoughts will be the same!
Thank you so much Netgalley for this ARC!
This book is a mystery with realistic characters. The story moves quickly. Intrigue…family and friends…two moms with missing daughters…red herrings kept me guessing…do not try to discern the ending too early. Thanks Netgalley.
A real page turner.
A drama full of strange characters.
Great descriptive writing. Tension and twists galore.
The ending was a real WOW.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
BFF's Willow and Amelia take a road trip to Niagara Falls to finish their novel. While on this trip, secrets and lies are revealed, and things take a turn for the worse. Suddenly, Amelia flies home, and a man drives the van back to Willow's mom's house. Where is Willow? How are all the secrets Willow learned about Amelia connected to her disappearance? Good suspense. I didn't really find the internet postings to add much. Honestly, they were more annoying than anything. And if you are young women posting that you are going on a road trip alone, you are not very smart!!!! Did not see the ending coming at all! Holy cow!
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of My Missing Daughter by Ellery Kane due to be published October 8, 2024.
Tracy’s daughter, Willow, and Candice’s daughter, Amelia, have taken off on a journey to explore the U.S. and obtain material for their soon-to-be-released novel. But one day someone delivers the bus to Tracy’s house. Soon after Amelia comes home. Where is Willow?
This one was a nail biter with lots of “suspects” from which to choose – the girls, Tracy’s ex-cop crooked boyfriend, and even the mild mannered teacher Sam. Everyone, it seems (like a good thriller) has secrets and lies they want to keep hidden. “That’s the trouble with lies, they always snowball.” I did not see the ending coming. Just when I thought I figured it out, the last ten pages got me.
You will not want to miss this one!

Ellery Kane has a way of making you feel like you’re right there with the characters, so it excited me to tag along on a roadtrip and be in nature. I really connected with the emotions of the characters, I could feel the heartache and frustration. The shady characters were aplenty and the twists kept coming. Another great read!
