This extensively illustrated very colorful book is aimed at ANYone who is interested in learning more about insects/bugs, what they do and where they live. Complete with glossary and index, this is a good book to use and keep handy!
The illustrations by artist Gavin Scott are quite representational/recognizable, decidedly colorful, and generally great!
Well suited for sharing WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school, doctor's office, or your local public library!
I requested and received a temporary uncorrected proof on Adobe Digital Editions from Nosy Crow Inc. via NetGalley. Thank you!

Beautifully illustrated and entertaining presentation. My girls think this book is great fun and request it for bedtime. They might be odd little nerds but they're my odd little nerds. Any little scientist or bi3g lover will enjoy this book for sure!
This is a fantastic resource for elementary students! I wish that NetGalley would give an age range in the description of the books because I find that I end up with books that are older than I expect sometimes -- this title was one of them. The cover makes it look pretty accessible but I think this would be for 3rd to 5th grade, maybe 2nd. The illustrations are absolutely stunning and make readers want to keep learning about these bugs. If you have a bug lover in your life, this is a must buy! I could see this being a great gift or part of a library of things collection with a magnifying glass, bug house, etc. For public libraries and teachers, this would be a great text to use as a companion to programming on bugs. Readers will be intrigued on why what is commonly thought about these bugs is wrong and will be forced to accommodate new knowledge. This would also make it great for a science classroom -- talking about how we know what we know, testing knowledge, evidence, fact vs. myth, etc. Though there's a lot of text, this is the perfect book to read short snippets of, almost like mini-chapters, because it talks about one bug myth at a time. For younger readers, even with the amount of text, they'll absolutely love looking at the illustrations. I can see my six year old loving to flip through it and having me read the parts he's interested in. To sum up, highly recommend for elementary teachers for science units, bug lovers, and stunning illustrations! For elementary and public librarians, this is a must add. It could be a good pick for middle school for lower level readers or multi lingual learners.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.
