As a fan and long-time supporter of Webtoons, I’m so happy to see artists and the platform thriving—from just the long scrolling of comics we love, to tv series adaptations, to books, and now to even coloring books.

I was quite excited to see this new medium for Webtoon. I’m sure aspiring artists will enjoy its details and their experience using it. Grateful to Netgalley, Webtoon Entertainment, and Walter Foster Publishing, I’m one of the first to take a sneak peek of this coloring book. I like how the cover was faithful to the original Webtoon. I also felt a bit of nostalgia seeing the art style once again. Turning to see the characters, it made me giddy and I think it would be fun to make your own interpretation of how they looked or you can always stick to the original.

Though I enjoyed browsing the pages, I wish there were more panels similar to the actual comic, with dialogues and different scenes, wherein you’ll have the chance to get to bring to life the story you love. I think that would have given this coloring book more variations and more room to explore.

Nonetheless, The Official Sweet Home Coloring Book will be an enjoyable companion to anyone who loves the Webtoon and Kdrama series.

Just want to start off by saying - thank you NetGalley, and Walter Foster Publishing for the opportunity to review this! I was really excited to go through it as I loved both the webtoon and the kdrama!

My review -

The webtoon series itself has such an engaging plot, such an interesting cast of characters with their own motives, and reasons (webtoon series gets a 5/5) but, a colouring book? Why? I genuinely don't think this was necessary.

The art style, while not too complicated is arguably good for colouring because of how clean it is but, like, I can't see myself wanting to colour it mainly because the tones are all so similar in every panel. It's like, dyed in sepia? Vignette?! There's not really much of any motivation to start nor finish with colouring it.

Maybe if they had chosen different panels that could have more colour? Also, because these are straight from the webtoon, maybe add little creator notes to each one, like anecdotes! Add a little blurb on certain pages and challenge the "colourer" to try using different tones for the panel? - I think that would've made it more engaging.

Otherwise, it's not bad! Just, not for me, I guess

To be honest, I didn't finish reading the title and completely overlooked that it's a Coloring Book, my mistake. I don't know what's there to say about a coloring book but it's certainly good timing with the third season streaming on netlix right now.

It was a nice touch to have the fully colored and detailed artwork next to the coloring page. My only criticism is that the book was a little short.

Love the original artstyle.
However, the presentation and the cover are a bit dull. But yes, the book is good for what it is.

Thank you, Walter Foster Publishing, for the ARC.

As someone who has read the webtoon, I thought this was a really cool coloring book. I love that it has the actual panel from the webtoon on one side of the page as well. Though I would've liked to see some more images that are exclusive to the colouring book, because as far as I can tell, they are all straight pulled from the webtoon. I also think that it managed to strike a really good balance with the line art, which would be super important for anyone actually coloring in the pages.

This is perfect for diehard Sweet Home fans.

I like that each page has both the colouring page and a picture showing the colours used. Because Sweet Home has such a dark colour palette, some details were actually a bit more clear in the colouring page version.

People who aren’t already fans of Sweet Home probably would have a pretty limited interest in this book, but for fans this would be a nice addition to reading the comic.

Review: The Official Sweet Home Coloring Book by Carnby Kim; WEBTOON
Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

As a huge fan of the Sweet Home K-drama, I was excited to explore more of the series, but I must admit, I found this coloring book to be a bit of a letdown. While the idea of coloring your favorite characters and scenes from the WEBTOON series might appeal to some, I couldn't help but feel that this medium doesn't do justice to the intensity and depth of the original story.

The detailed line illustrations and full-color artwork provide a solid base for a creative coloring experience, especially for those who enjoy replicating the dark and eerie palettes from the series. However, as someone who is deeply invested in the narrative and character development, I would much rather dive into the actual webcomic than spend time coloring.

While the book does offer a unique way to engage with the Sweet Home universe, it falls short for fans like me who crave more story and less filler. This might be a fun diversion for diehard monster enthusiasts or those looking for a creative outlet, but it left me wanting more substance and less surface-level engagement.
