The Flora Blackwell apology tour continues in A Cowgirl’s Thanksgiving Kiss by Amy Vastine, and the quintessential show mom still has a lot of amend-making to do in order to convince all 5 of her daughters to perform at her induction into the Cowgirl Hall of Fame. Flora is so self-focused and oblivious to anyone else’s experiences except her own… at least that’s the first (and sometimes second and third) impression she gives off. As this Blackwell Belles series has progressed, I have enjoyed seeing the other layers to Flora – as a person, as a mother, and as a performer. And I think in this sweet Thanksgiving story from Vastine, Flora’s finally (finally!) starting to see how she’s had some serious blinders on when it comes to her daughters’ feelings about their childhood/adolescence as performers – and the harm it’s done to their relationship with each other, with her, and with their past.
J.R. (aka Jasmine Rose), like her other sisters, desperately wants to keep her days as a Blackwell Belle under wraps, to earn respect for who she is apart from the glitter and sequins and horse riding stunts. This is especially important for J.R. as she’s a single mom fighting to carve out a place in the male-dominated career of Texas bull-breeding. She’s done a pretty good job of it so far, but a series of domino events over a few day period – including an unexpected job curveball, startling damage to her home, and the surprise arrival of her mom, her grandmother, and her great uncle – threatens all that she’s worked for. I would have fallen apart long before J.R. has a meltdown, so I had mad respect for her strength and also just wanted to hug her because it was relatably a lot to deal with. Fortunately, Vastine introduces us to Hunter, J.R.’s handsome coworker who has a big crush on her and would happily step in to give her all the hugs I couldn’t. I loved Hunter and his warm & welcoming family, and I loved the way Hunter was with J.R. and her adorable daughter Tessa. He’s a genuinely good guy who feels deeply and just wants to make everything better for J.R and, man, having his love turned full force in your direction would definitely be something to be thankful for.
Bottom Line: Pull up a table, dig in to some turkey and dressing, and maybe save room for a slice of J.R.’s strawberry rhubarb pie because A Cowgirl’s Thanksgiving Kiss by Amy Vastine serves up a lovely happily-ever-after. The obstacles in the way (aka the lumps in the gravy, to carry this Thanksgiving analogy too far) make this entertaining story all the more layered, with multi-dimensional characters, sweet romance, witty humor, and even an adorable baby goat just to make your heart melt further. Hunter and J.R. have great chemistry, and their first kiss was well worth the wait! Vastine successfully picks up where the other Blackwell Belles authors left off, and she leaves us in a great place for Cari Lynn Webb to bring us to the finish line with the final book.

Competition for the top ranch job, a generous favor, and a unsettling Thanksgiving dinner bring together a pair who share a love of ranching and more if they can find a way to work together. Amy Vastine is a new to me author, but I enjoy the Harlequin Heartwarming line and particularly holiday romances so I was pleased to give her Thanksgiving Holiday Romance a go.
A Cowgirl’s Thanksgiving Kiss is part of a multiple author series, The Blackwell Belles, and works just fine standalone. I’m guessing, since I haven’t read them, but there appear to be a handful of other Blackwell-related multiple author series along similar lines.
In this latest Blackwell Belle story which is a loosely connected series, readers are surprised by a hardworking female bull breeder in heroine, JR Blackwell. JR is a single mom and hardworking with little time for extras beyond her daughters and her need to get the promotion when her bosses announce retirement. JR is in competition with her coworker, a former bull rider, and doesn’t want to like Hunter and resists their attraction. However, Hunter is into her and generously offers her a place to stay when her house gets crushed under a fallen tree. He forges a connection with her daughters and falls for them right along with JR in spite of his friend’s words. Things come to a head over a Thanksgiving meal shared by their joint friends and families which is upsetting, but also works on her.
A Cowgirl’s Thanksgiving Kiss is a fast read that is sweet, tender and relatively low-angst while providing the feels in this ranch country, close-knit community setting. I’m always keen to find a Thanksgiving holiday story as they aren’t as popular as other holiday romances and it suited the tone of this pair’s work competition, but friendly build of romance. A cozy contemporary romance for those who like a quick read with a gentle pace.
Single mom J.R. and her coworker Hunter are going head to head for the newest promotion. When a storm causes a tree to crash into her house she and her daughter need a place to stay and thankfully Hunter is there to help out and offer her a place. The more they are around eachother they start to warm up eachother but there still that promotion to think about at the end of it all.
This was a pretty good read. There is so much to unpack when it comes to this book. Theres first the promotion going on with J.R. and Hunter having to prove themselves worthy of the promotion. Then the whole tree crashing into the house leaving her to rely on the help Hunter can give her but J.R. is a strong willed women who because of her past trying her hardest to never really need anyone. Which then leads to her family drama which is a lot in itself and now the family is near to her and shes getting caught up into something she doesn't want to deal with when she already has things she needs to work on. Overall pretty good book I really enjoyed it.
A Cowgirl's Thanksgiving Kiss by Amy Vastine, book four in the Blackwell Belles series, a multi-author venture, with only one more books to come, is a sweet, enemies to lovers, heartwarming romance with a reminder of the importance of family and that it’s okay to ask for help.
J.R. Blackwell, the eldest of the sisters and a single mom, works on a ranch breeding bulls in Texas with Hunter Robbins, a former bull rider. Her boss has announced retirement, and either J.R or Hunter will take over; leading to a competition of sorts. J.R. wants to be taken seriously in her job and if they knew she used to be a trick rider, they would not respect her. Hunter has been trying to get J.R. to trust him and maybe come to love him. He has been in love with her for a while, but she is a bit prickly. When a tree falls on her house, Hunter comes to the rescue; taking her and her daughter to stay in a cabin on his family's dude ranch. Then J.R.'s mother, grandmother and great uncle show up trying to convince her to come to her mother's big day.
J.R. has enough on her plate on a normal day: her family showing up, the damage to her house, the competition for a promotion, and an attraction to Hunter and she isn't sure she can handle it all. Hunter wonders if she will ever trust him and return his love. Now, I can't wait for Willow's story and the big reunion.

There is always that moment when this bookworm just needs to curl up with a cozy, charming romance. Normally, my charming romances take place across the pond in England or Scotland. But I decided to stay on this side of the world and spend some time at an unforgettable ranch. Now, if you aren't a fan of Hallmark movies, then I would say give this book a pass because you probably won't enjoy it. Overall, I really loved this book. It was sweet and funny, had some pretty entertaining twists and the romance was heartwarming.
One of my favourite things about this book was the family dynamics that exist in J.R. and Hunter's families. They are all firecrackers. Hunter's brothers have the fun brotherly banter. J.R.'s family is chaos in its purest form and it's so much fun to be a part of. I loved that variety of family relationships. Hunter is very close to all of his family, and they all love and support each other. J.R. has a very different relationship with her family. They are distant, have a lot of work, and there are some past hurts that have put a strain on their relationships. Spending time with all these family members was a lot of fun. I loved watching as all these different characters interact with each other.
J.R. and Hunter have this reverse grumpy sunshine co-worker thing going on. J.R. likes to say that her life is a big old hot mess. I wouldn't say it is. She is a busy single mom who has a lot on her plate. She does her best, and I think she is pretty amazing. Her past relationships, both romantic and with her family, have made her develop this defence that often makes her come across as being prickly. She is independent and doesn't like to accept help, especially from Hunter. Over the course of the book, J.R. begins to learn that it's okay to let others help her and that Hunter might actually be a genuine good guy. Hunter is that perfect cinnamon roll cowboy hero. He is charming, sweet, and knows just what to say to put a smile on someone's face. He is a good guy through and through and is smitten with J.R. The only problem is that J.R. doesn't necessarily trust all that cowboy charm. But he is willing to keep showing up when she needs him and prove his feelings are real.
I like the romance. It's sweet and feels real. Sometimes, those Hallmark-type books create a romance that doesn't feel realistic, but that's not the case in this book. J.R. and Hunter both have their own struggles, and things don't magically fall into place for them. They have to work on trusting and opening up to each other before they can really dive into that romantic relationship. Things progressed believably.
A Cowgirl's Thanksgiving Kiss is a heartwarming romance that is sure to sweep you off your feet.
A wonderful book! This inspirational romance has everything you need to keep you completely entertained with the sweet and fun story line.. Great characters including an adorable baby goat in an amazing ranch setting. J.R. and Hunter's romance journey was intense with humor sprinkled in for enjoyment. It was the perfect kind of romance for me. I really enjoyed it!
This cutesy enemies to lovers storyline hits all the right spots! I'm obviously loving The Blackwell Belles series since I adore all of the Blackwells and Amy Vastine's rendition of Jasmine Rose is just what I was looking for. The characters are easy to like, the plot is filled with humor and light angst and held my attention throughout. I can't wait for Willow's story and the big reunion!
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that enjoys a heartwarming romance that has a plot centering around family but has lots of room for romance and ever afters along the way.
J.R. Blackwell is a single mother working on a Texas ranch, where she breeds bulls alongside her coworker, former bull rider Hunter Robbins. When their bosses announce their retirement, J.R. and Hunter find themselves in a competition to take over the ranch. Despite the rivalry, Hunter can’t deny his growing attraction to J.R., especially after he helps her and her daughters when a tree falls on their house.
During a crowded Thanksgiving celebration, J.R.’s unexpected family guests and an uncomfortable encounter with Hunter’s friend Randy bring tensions to the surface. Hunter learns more about J.R.’s past and the woman he’s falling for, remaining supportive despite Randy’s hurtful comments. The story blends competition, romance, and personal discovery, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion in the next and final book.
Cute, sweet and clean Thanksgiving themed book! This book had some eclectic characters and is part of a series. I hadn't read the first three books but was able to jump right into this one with no problem at all. It was nice to read such a sweet and clean Thanksgiving book as many authors skip over Thanksgiving and do either fall or Christmas.
This one had competitors to lovers, a cute pre-teen age daughter of a single mother, former rodeo stars, some family drama, horses, and so much more packed into this quick and easy read.
This is a very low spice book which is great and I recommend it to anyone looking for a sweet and clean book that is not faith based.
Thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin books for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
This book was so stinking cute!!! I loved the dynamics between Hunter and J.R. I wouldn't say it's enemies to lovers... frenemies to lovers, maybe? Anyways. J.R. and Hunter find themselves up for the same position at work, and it comes down to who can sell the best bull at auction to see who gets the position. J.R. has possibly the worst night in her life when a storm blows a tree into her house. Then, her extended family shows up. What is she and her daughter going to do??? They get taken in by Hunter's family to stay at their guest ranch. I love both families.
You must read this book!
J.R. Blackwell works with Hunter Robbins they are both up for the same job. Hunter is sweet on J.R. and she thinks he's too nice. J.R. is a single mom and when tree falls on her house Hunter takes her home to his family's dude ranch. Of course, J.R.'s mother, grandmother and great uncle show up trying to get her to come to her mother's big day.
This is a new to me author and it is also the first book of the series that I have read. Set around Thanksgiving, I enjoyed the characters and storyline. It has been a while since I read a book with bull riders in it. I will definitely need to look for the other books in the series. It is scheduled to be released 10/22/2024 from the Harlequin Love Inspired series.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher. All words are my own.
The fourth book in The Blackwell Belle’s. It’s another winner that for sure. Do yourself a favor and get the other before it/
These authors are all amazing.
J. R. Blackwell is a single mother. She has distanced herself from the life she once had with her sisters performing as trick riders. She loved what she did now. She worked on a ranch with Hunter Robbin’s who was a former bull rider. They worked together: what neither of them expected was a competition between the two of them. But there it was.
What she didn’t expect was a visit from her mother, her grandmother and her great uncle Big E. It could not have come at a worse time after a tree fell on her house. It was lucky for and her daughter Tessa that Hunter had room at his ranch for them.
What started off just friends lead to something else. J.R also known as Jasmine Rose was furious with Hunter on Thanksgiving due to his friend leaking out something about herself she rather keep private.
I have to say I didn’t like Randy at all. He lead Hunter to do something he told him he wanted nothing to do with again, but he pushed it. Well Hunter paid the price:
See what happens. One more thing.
