Spending the evening wading through swampy waters infested with alligators, snakes and other pests is not what Shae Evans had in mind for her Christmas Eve with her daughter, Gracie. But this is where she finds herself while also running for her life.

Shae was instrumental in putting a crime boss away for life. She has been living a quiet life in witness protection, but that quietness is shattered when she recognizes members of the crime family at her daughter's Christmas pageant. She knows she will have to go on the run. Thankfully, former FBI agent, Mason Payne, shows up just in time to help her out.

Turbo charged action is the name of the game in this mystery. Flying bullets and high speed car chases are just the tip of the iceberg for this book's action packed scenes. It is a little hard to be romantic when you are running for your life, but Shae and Mason have a past together, which you will learn more about when you read the book.

Everything that makes a book come alive happens in this story including a crime family who have no regard for human life, and will think nothing of snuffing out someone's life if it suits their needs. Entertaining characters and a twisty mystery, as well an inspirational thread, make this one a winner for me. I fell completely in love with Gracie. This little girl was held to the fire, but she handled it swimmingly.

Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

If you love inspirational suspense with second chance romance and secret baby tropes, you’re going to love Hunted for the Holidays by Deena Alexander!

I love witness protection type books, so this was extra exciting for me! Since testifying against her employer, Shae has been in witness protection for 6 years, and during that time she gave birth to a baby girl, Gracie, who is now 5. During Gracie’s Christmas pageant, Shae spots two men in black suits who look as if they’re looking for someone. Fearing the worst, Shae quickly takes Gracie home to grab their bags and run. However, when she’s there, Mason, a former FBI agent she once loved, arrives at her house to warn her and take her to safety.

It was so suspenseful reading about how Shae, Mason, and Gracie were constantly on the run and in danger from the family of Shae’s former employer. Even when they thought they might be safe, someone ended up betraying them. This is where their faith in God got them through. Even when their faith was shaky, God’s provision was never shaky. They may have been in danger and not known if they’d live or die, but God provided just what they needed.

Deena Alexander does such a great job at making the reader feel immersed in the story. When it was rainy, and they were drenched, miserable, and afraid, I felt as if I were right there with them! The car chases and near misses were exciting. Even knowing that someone on the inside was betraying them put me on edge! Once the story was reaching its conclusion, I was right about who would betray them. There were a lot of choices though!

Of course, I enjoyed seeing Shae and Mason reconnect romantically. I love second chance romances, and this one was just perfect! The secret baby was an added bonus! The suspense was always at the forefront of this book with the romance secondary yet essential!

I think both long-time readers of Love Inspired Suspense and those who are new to this line of books will love Hunted for the Holidays for its exciting blown witness protection situation, secret baby/second chance romance, and faith filled message. I give it 5 stars!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Over 5 years ago, after testifying against her former criminal boss, Shae Evans went into WITSEC. At the time, she wasn’t aware she was pregnant with the FBI agent that disappeared after the trial.
Though still cautious, all seemed to go well until she realizes that people from that time are at the Christmas pageant her sweet daughter is in.
She springs into action to escape them and comes face to face with the man she never forgot, the father of her daughter, former FBI agent Mason Payne. Mason went undercover to protect her, never knowing he had a child.
But there is no time to question his reasons, as the bad guys seem to multiply and get more dangerous by the minute.
Will the three survive the evil that seems to surround them determined to kill them all? Who can they trust?
This was an action packed story, with a little of faith, a sweet child and the possibilities of a second chance in life and love.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Harlequin. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Heroine went into the witness protection system because she saw something she shouldn't and had bad guys coming after her. She met Hero who was protecting her and they had one night before he flew the coop which left her pregnant with their daughter.

Six years later, he returns and finds out he has a daughter so now he has to protect both of them from the bad guys who found her and want both of them dead.

This is a second chance story with no sex scenes. Loved the kid.

"Hunted for the Holidays" is a Christian romantic suspense. Shae risked her life to get evidence against a crime boss and get him sent to prison. Now he's dying, and he'll decide who will inherit his organization based on who can find and kill Shae. Mason has been working undercover but gets wind of the danger, so he races to protect Shae. During the lead-up to the trial, they spent a year getting to know each other and falling in love. Shae still trusts him, but they're not sure who keeps leaking their location.

The main characters were likable, courageous, and reacted realistically to events. I cared about what happened to them. Shae and Mason worked well together, trusted each other, and were willing to die to protect their five-year-old daughter. The high suspense came from the bad weather, wild animals, and several people trying to capture or kill Shae. Both Shae and Mason were Christians, and they prayed to God for help. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable suspense.

Hunted for the Holidays
Deena Alexander
272 pages
Genre: Romance Suspense
Shae Evans was an assistant to Quentin Kincaid who she thought was a nice guy to work for until she discovered a plan to destroy the Pesci family. She contacted the FBI, testified against the mobster and put him away. She went into the Witness Protection Program. She hadn’t planned to fall in love with one of her protectors, Mason Payne, but she did. They had one night together, and he disappeared. Nine months later their daughter Grace was born. The Kincaid family were determined to murder Shae. Six years later Mason returned. He knew as soon as he saw Grace she was his daughter; she had his eyes.
There was a mole in the FBI working with the Kincaids. Mason is determined to protect the two he loves, Shae and Grace.
This book has great potential but needs a bit of work. This is an easy read. It needs more depth. I loved Mason, Shae and Grace. I would have liked to know more about Zac and Angelea.
Thank you NetGalley for the review copy.

Shae Evans is a single mom with a precocious little girl. In the witness protection system, she feels like she finally has carved out a life for the two of them and can relax.......or not! While at a Christmas pageant, she spots two hitmen from her former life and suddenly is on the run again. Former FBI agent Mason Payne steps in to offer protection but will it be enough? And can she trust him? She's kept a secret from him for 6 years - his daughter. But hurt, abandonment and the mob have conspired to keep them apart. Will they be able to work together to determine who wants her dead and before it's too late? This new-to-me author wove a fast-paced tale I couldn't put down.

I love these books! The mystery, suspense and romance keep my fingers turning the pages as quickly as I can read. I always try to guess who is involved but am not always correct. Mason, Shae and Gracie were wonderful characters and had the reader cheering them on in the midst of the turmoil they were in.

A thrilling, fast-paced, and action-packed adventure with a sweet faith thread throughout. I couldn't put it down!

Shae Evans has built a new life for her and her daughter in Witness Protection, but she is always looking over her shoulder because of Quentin Kincaid, a mobster she helped put behind bars. Her new life is going great until the night of her daughter's pageant when she sees a couple suspicious men in the audience. Mason Payne, the FBI agent who disappeared six years ago without a word, bursts back into her life as Shae scrambles to flee with her daughter--their daughter. Mason left Shae to go undercover and keep her safe from the Kincaid organization without letting her know and before Shae discovered she was pregnant. Good intentions, so many regrets. Shae and Mason race to stay ahead of the people after Shae and their daughter. They don't know who to trust because every time they try to catch their breath, they find themselves under fire again. Will they be able to escape? Can they ever find a way to forgive each other when there are so many secrets between them?

Hunted for the Holidays is my first read by Deena Alexander, and I enjoyed every adrenaline-filled and action-packed moment. Deena did an excellent job keeping me engaged and on the edge of my seat. I loved watching Shae and Mason rediscover their love. Highly recommend!
