These meditations on Genesis weave together popular culture, Biblical scholarship, science, and nature to answer questions about what we believe about the Bible when we don't think it actually happened exactly like it says. I would recommend this for people who have moved away from literalism and aren't sure what to do about the Bible.

This is the book for anyone who's ready to wrestle with the bible, to look at things from a new angle. This is a well researched and fresh look at Genesis and definitely had me thinking.

Whenever I hear about someone’s faith unraveling, I come to their story in fervent hope that they knew what they were rejecting. Liz Grant has clearly done her homework, and Knock at the Sky is her protest against making an idol of the Bible and her push back against the contentiousness in the Christian camp. I enjoyed her review of the Genesis storyline, and while we might not always reach the same conclusions, I appreciated her thoughtfulness.

Knock at the Sky: Seeking God in Genesis after Losing Faith in the Bible by Liz Charlotte Grant is for anyone that struggles to believe the Bible while wrestling with the church and its people. The author says, "Our best questions often sound like doubts, yet I believe curiosity is the most reverent stance a human can take. Wandering itself is a spiritual discipline. Far from losing faith, I have found that wandering has allowed me to find it." Grant encourages the reader to seek God through Scripture and to be curious about what the Bible is saying. I recommend it for anyone who considers themself a doubter, questioner or deconstructor. It is a book that will bring a new perspective to female characters in genesis.

A study on Genesis for those who are ready to look at the book from a different angle. I look forward to obtaining a paper copy of this to use for personal study. Would also be a good resource for friends or groups to read and discuss together.
