This is a cute fun story about the power of sisterhood and how long stemmed prejudices affect us and the generations to come. It did feel extremely long though. I felt myself losing steam between 55-75% but the ending I flew through. Very cute, fun read.

I was genuinely excited for this book. A charmed inspired book, yes sign me up. However, I was only able to get through 27% of this book. I tried so hard to keep reading it. But the story did not hook me and I was a little lost at time with the characters. My favorite thing about the book was how the spell book would talk to her by the words appearing on the page, I really liked that concept. But I just could not get into this book at all.

Overall, I find the cozy vibes of this authors writing style enjoyable to read. I liked her previous book well enough and this one, while not the same, is on par. I'm never super in love with the plot lines or the writing style sometimes but if a cozy magic filled book is what you are looking for than than this might just be it for you

The cozy descriptions of the sister’s storefront- Tea and Tomes in their charming town completely stole my heart. It’s everything I dream of in a bookstore, and I wish it existed in real life!
The touch of Greek spells and recipes sprinkled throughout the story added a layer of charm. With my husband being Greek, those moments felt like a special nod to something close to my heart. I also loved the inclusion of the recipes at the end of the book and plan on trying to cook some!
This book is a cozy, heartwarming brew of magic, love, and community. If you’re looking for a story that feels like a hug in book form, this is it. Highly recommend!

The best books make you never want to finish them becuase then you have to leave the characters. That is how I felt about this book. With every chapter I was transported to a town I wish I could visit, a kitchen I wanted to sit in, and a tea shop I know I could spend the whole day in. But not only did Breanne Randall create and amazing world she also created the most perfect characters to live within it. And within this world she created a story that drags you in and keeps you hooked. With each new surprise I had to keep reading late into the night to learn how everything turned out. This cozy yet suspensful story is well worth the read!

I can say that I did not have high expectations for this book after attempting to read "The Unfortunate Side Effects of Heartbreak and Magic" by this same author because while I wanted to enjoy that book, I couldn't force myself to finish it.

This book however, I really enjoyed. I'd give is 3.5/5 stars, so I rounded up! The overall plot was extremely interesting and kept my attention to drive me quickly through the pages. Calliope's character I loved. She was reckless and chaotic but with all good intentions in her actions. Nothing was funnier to me then her socks and her sassy sentient book. I also loved Lucien, he was the mysterious bad boy who for 95% of this book, I couldn't decide if we could trust him even if we loved him. I do wish there would've been more build up and development between their relationship because it went very quickly from enemy to lover without a lot in the middle so the first spicy-ish scene was kind of awkward and felt forced. The way he talked though.... please give us more book boyfriend aka shadow daddy. There were times that I think there was too much fluff in chapters that didn't add a lot of substance to the storyline, but I can say while maybe extra, the writing was mostly well written with a great flow and had beautiful descriptions. The ending was chef's kiss and I would be interesting in seeing a second to this book.

I'd love to see more from the side characters like Danny and Elea and PLEASE what happened to the mother. I NEED TO KNOW.

But alas this book tries too hard and was not for me. Its billed as Charmed meets Pride & Prejudice and what it has in common with Charmed is 3 witch sisters that have to save the world because they’re 3 super special witch sisters. and as for P&P, well any enemies to l0vers can be billed as being like that. And that’s the thing, we aren't really told why the bad guy is the bad guy and why the fmc is prejudiced against him other than oh we’ve always hated and feared his kind of magic wielder cuz they’re Evil. But of course he's hot and she’s instantly attracted to him, and of course he’s actually a good guy. but what really threw me was the author kept changing how the sentient magic book thats named Grim (haha get it cuz he's a grimoire) was referred to; sometimes as him and sometimes as it, and it’s like please make up your mind, and I really hope the editor fixes this in the final copy.

When I saw this book pitched as Pride and Prejudice meets Practical Magic, I knew I had to read it—and it didn’t let me down! The swoony Mr. Darcy vibes mixed with a cozy, witchy atmosphere had me completely hooked.

That said, it felt like the story was trying to do a little too much. The romance was sweet, but it moved too quickly for my taste—I think it needed more time to develop. The climax was a bit chaotic, and the ending left me with questions I really wanted answered. Honestly, I wish this had been a duology so everything could have had more room to breathe.

Even with those issues, I loved the vivid world and the characters. If you’re into magical romance with a touch of drama, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a shot. And who knows? Maybe we’ll get a sequel to tie up those loose ends!

As a huge fan of Randall’s work, this book exceeded all my expectations and left me craving more! From the very first page, I was drawn into a world filled with magic, music, and unforgettable characters. Randall’s writing is so immersive; I felt like I was right there alongside the protagonist, experiencing every twist and turn of their journey. The blend of whimsical elements and heartfelt moments is simply perfect!

The character development is phenomenal. I loved watching the protagonist grow and navigate the complexities of their magical abilities while dealing with personal challenges. The relationships are beautifully crafted, filled with warmth, humor, and just the right amount of tension. I found myself laughing, crying, and cheering them on throughout the story!

I loved Breanne Randall's first book so I was excited to get this as my first ever ARC from Netgalley and I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed the book a lot and I am looking forward to her future books.

This book is a cozy, witchy, romantic escape from everyday life with a sweet look at the relationship between three sisters. The talking Grimoire reminded me of similar objects turned into characters in books like Howl’s Moving Castle and The Spell Shop, lending a particular strain of cozy enchantment to the narrative. Although there is some spice in the budding relationship between the dark and light witches bound to one another, and although the message of the novel is about finding balance in a complicated world, Randall’s prose oozes with comforting details. The sisters own a tea and book shop called Tea and Tome, and the back of the book is filled with recipes for the items they serve: Mnimi Soup with Crusty Cottage Bread and Honey Butter, Sage and Brown Butter Gnocchi, Apple Cinnamon Melomakarona Cookies, and Orange Fairy Tea Cakes. There are even drinks like Witches’ Wisdom Tea and Moonlight Elixir Cocktail. These details help create a comforting atmosphere that can keep the magic flowing once the story is complete.

If you are looking for a lovely distraction from the real world and a sweet exploration of the magic of memory, give Spells, Strings, and Forgotten Things a try.

I honestly did not enjoy this book at all. The romance felt weird and super rushed and kind of came out of nowhere? The story was lacking in both plot and character development. Is it high stakes? Low states? Literally cannot even tell what the stakes are here, it goes from "we don't know what will happen" to "the world is ending" and back again, over and over. The story tries to say something about generational trauma but the message just comes up short. My favorite part was the recipe section at the end that took up 5% of the pages, just because it was less of this story I had to suffer through.

Thanks Netgalley, sorry I won't lie and claim this was better than it was.

PS: calling a character a "shadow daddy" does not make him one.

I adored this book!!
The Petridi sisters are the sole guardians of the Dark Oak, they are charged with protecting their town, however it comes with a heft cost, each sister looses a memory each time they use magic, slowly loosing parts of their mind and spirt. Calliope has freely given up parts of herself each time she practices, she's been on a quest to break this generational curse. One night one of the enchantments breaks and Calliope reaches out for sister's magic to save herself, however instead of her sisters she ends up binding herself to the leader of a rival clan. Little does she know how this moment in time will shape her future and the man next to her has a bigger role then she ever though possible.



Something I loved about this book is that it was a story of self discovery and growth, Calliope never full allowed herself to get close to others for fear of losing them, like she lost her mother to magic. She never allowed herself to heal, and never fully allowed another person to love her. Lucien helped her see how she is enough and that the right people will accept you for who you are the good and the bad. If you love a good enemies to lovers story this one is for you! Lucien, although he might be from a rival clan, his heart is nothing but Light. Calliope learns that the man she was been told to hate is not that different from her and her sisters, they fight the same battles for the same reasons, slowly she starts to see the true colors of her enemy. This gave me Charmed vibes with the "power of three" theme, I am here for it!!!!! I enjoyed the journey the sisters took, this strained bond was easily mended once they figured out how to see past each others faults. It was a beautiful to watch a family come back together, the little surprised that popped up with their aunts was a plus. Truly enjoyed every bit of this book!!!!

Breanne turned up the HEAT on this one. I loved The Unfortunate Side Effects of Heartbreak and Magic and was SO excited for this release. Definitely giving all the witchy Charmed vibes. I absolutely loved Calliope's personality, the banter, the slow burn, enemies to lovers, sister/family bonds, and the unique world building. 🤌🏼 Obsessed and hoping for a sequel?!

Loved the world building, characters and magic system. This book was clearly well outlined and the pacing was great. I loved how action packed it was while also having a really solid romance that I was rooting for. Highly recommend this release!

I enjoyed this story!

Sisters cursed to sacrifice memories to use magic. An untimely, unwanted connection to a rival. Protecting "good" from "evil". Unexpected relationships. Healing of a family's trauma. Twists around every corner.
This story was filled with a span of emotions. A variety of characters and personalities. I also appreciated the representation. The story felt familiar without being redundant. The plot twists were fascinating! Overall, I think this is a fun read!
